Chapter 3 - Consult A Trusted Female Figure Part I

The hallway outside the bathroom felt charged, the air still thick with steam and the ghost of his aunt's piercing red gaze. Kaito leaned against his bedroom door, the wood cool against his flushed back. The system's new personal mission glowed insistently in his vision.

OBJECTIVE: SEEK RELIEF FOR UNKNOWN PHYSICAL DISCOMFORT. CONSULT A TRUSTED FEMALE FIGURE.

His heart thumped a frantic rhythm against his ribs. The "discomfort" was a persistent, heavy ache, a tightness in his groin that seemed to pulse in time with his heartbeat. It had been building for weeks, a confusing companion he'd tried to ignore. But now, with the system making it an official quest, he couldn't. It was a problem to solve, a status effect to clear.

SUGGESTED TARGETS: HIKARI, SACHI.

His mother's gentle, worried face surfaced in his mind—her sky-blue eyes, the way she'd melted under his massage, the startling warmth in her gaze when he'd stumbled against her. She was safety. She was love. But the memory of that moment, the feel of her softness against the hard ridge of his arousal, sent a fresh jolt of that very discomfort through him.

Then Sachi's image, sharp and vivid: water sluicing over pale skin, the breathtaking weight of her breasts, the dark pink of her nipples pebbling in the cool air. Her look hadn't been one of horror, but of assessment. Curiosity. Her love score had jumped the moment she'd seen the evidence of his… condition.

A soft chime echoed in his mind.

NEW MISSION ISSUED!

TARGET: HIKARI.

OBJECTIVE: ASSIST WITH EVENING CHORES. HELP CHANGE THE BED LINENS IN THE GUEST ROOM.

REWARD: +25 EXP, LOVE SCORE +1.

The system had decided for him. Or, perhaps, it was giving him a path. A practical, harmless task that would put him near his mother, in a private space. He could work up to the harder question. Complete the mission in front of you first. That was gaming logic 101.

He found Hikari in the linen closet on the second floor, pulling out a set of fresh, lavender-scented sheets. She'd changed out of her work blouse and skirt into a simple, pale blue housedress that tied at the waist. It was modest, but the soft cotton draped over the lush, womanly curves of her hips and backside, the fabric catching the light as she moved.

"Oh, Kaito. Perfect timing," she said, her smile warm but still carrying a trace of the flustered energy from downstairs. She handed him a stack of pillowcases. "Could you take these? Sachi will be staying in the guest room for a while, it seems."

"Sure, Mom." He took the linens, their scent faint and clean. "Is Aunt Sachi okay?"

Hikari sighed, a soft, weary sound. "She will be. The corporate world was eating her alive. A little chaos might be good for her." She led the way to the guest room, which was across the hall from his own. It was a cozy space with a large, western-style bed. "Though, she certainly knows how to make an entrance."

Kaito nodded, setting the linens on a chair. He watched as his mother began stripping the old sheets with efficient motions. The muscles in her arms flexed, and the dress pulled across her back, emphasizing the inward sweep of her waist before flaring out over the majestic swell of her hips. Her long silver ponytail swayed with her movements.

LOVE SCORE: HIKARI: 27/100.

The number hovered near her, a constant reminder. He moved to help, grabbing a corner of the fitted sheet. Their fingers brushed as they worked to tuck it over the mattress corner. A simple, domestic touch. Hikari's breath caught, just for a fraction of a second.

"So," she began, her voice deliberately light as they smoothed the flat sheet over the bed. "Earlier… downstairs. You seemed… well, you're a young man now. Are you feeling alright?"

His pulse spiked. Was this his chance? The mission objective glowed. Consult a trusted female figure.

"I… actually, I'm not sure," he admitted, focusing on aligning a pillow seam. The confession felt huge. "I have this… ache. A pressure. Down… there." He couldn't bring himself to be more specific, gesturing vaguely toward his groin. The discomfort, as if on cue, gave a pronounced throb.

Hikari's hands stilled on the sheet. He dared a glance. A deep, rosy blush was spreading from the neckline of her dress up her throat. Her sky-blue eyes were wide, her lips parted. She looked utterly stunned, but not disgusted. There was a profound maternal concern there, wrestling with something far more flustered.

"Oh, Kaito," she breathed out. "My poor boy. You… you really don't know?"

He shook his head, genuine confusion twisting his features. "It started a few weeks ago. It gets… worse sometimes. Especially when I'm…" When I'm massaging you. When I see Aunt Sachi wet and nearly naked. "…when I'm nervous," he finished lamely.

Her blush deepened. She looked down at her hands, then back at him. The love score by her shoulder flickered.

LOVE SCORE INCREASED: HIKARI: 28/100.

"It's… it's a normal thing," she said, her voice dropping to a hushed, intimate tone. They were alone in the quiet room, the only sound the rustle of fabric. "For young men your age. Your body is… changing. Becoming a man's body." She said it with a soft, almost reverent pride, but her gaze skittered away from his. "That feeling… it means your body is… healthy. Working properly."

"But it hurts," he insisted, the gamer in him seeking a solution to the debuff. "It's tight and hard and… distracting. Is there a way to make it stop? Just for a while?"

Hikari's throat worked as she swallowed. She picked up a pillow and began shoving it into a case with more force than necessary. "There… there are ways. To find relief. But…" She seemed to be warring with herself, a storm of emotion in her eyes. "It's not something a mother usually… I mean, you should learn these things for yourself, or from… from books…"

A new mission alert superimposed over her conflicted face.

NEW MISSION ISSUED!

TARGET: HIKARI.

OBJECTIVE: REQUEST DEMONSTRATION OF 'RELIEF' METHOD. APPEAL TO MATERNAL INSTINCT.

REWARD: +80 EXP, LOVE SCORE +2, UNLOCKS 'PHYSICAL AWARENESS' PERK.

FAILURE: LOVE SCORE -3.

The stakes were higher. A potential loss. Kaito's resolve hardened. He couldn't fail a mission. He took a step closer to her, near the foot of the bed. The familiar, comforting scent of vanilla and sugar that always clung to her was now mixed with something warmer, more personal.

"I don't want a book, Mom," he said, his voice low and earnest. He channeled every bit of confused, aching need he felt into his expression. "I'm scared it's something wrong. And you're the only one I trust. You always make everything better. Please?"
