Mia's POV
My eyes flew open, and I sat up abruptly.
I'm...alive?
My hands were chained. I pressed my elbows to my pocket. My knife was gone. My weapons... they were all gone. Even the wolfsbane. My gaze dropped. My legs were chained as well. I looked over my body for any wounds. Nothing.
"How did you find us?" I heard a low, clear masculine voice. I turned my head. A tall figure leaned by the window. It had gotten dark outside. I frowned and squinted.
"You should have killed me, keeping me alive? You're only signing your death sentence." I spat. The figure shifted, then walked out of the shadows. I froze, recognizing those eyes. He pulled a chair and sat, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees. His eyes trailed down my body curiously.
"Unchain me, and I'll dig those eyes out,"
"Do you realize where you are?"
"I'm not stupid,"
"Yet you're in chains,"
I grit my teeth, every fibre in me wanting to rip his head off. Suddenly, pain...sharp.... spiralled through my head and down my neck. I gasped, clutching my head, fingers digging into my hair.
"What did you do to me?!"
His expression softened. He stood, coming to sit next to me. His hand dropped unto mine, and I yanked it away instantly.
"Don't touch me." I glared at him as fiercely as I could.
"That's the only way the pain would subside." He shrugged, standing again, hands slipping into his pocket. The pain worsened, throbbed... Spread. I bit down hard trying to stay quiet, but it was unbearable. My fingers twisted into the sheets.
He just stood there watching me. I wasn't going to ask for his help. He is a monster, after all... What could he possibly do to help?
"Stay still." His fingers lightly brushed my forehead. The pain immediately subsided, and I relaxed as his palm settled on my forehead. I closed my eyes, embarrassed.
"Back to my question... how did you find us?"
I ignored him and looked away. I had failed my parents. It was too heartbreaking.
"My pack wants you dead -"
I turn my head quickly.
"You kill my parents, and now you want to kill me. Typical" I spat in his face. He jolted back, wiping it with his sleeve. I glare at him. His golden eyes had become dark. In a flash, his hands wrapped around my throat- light but firm enough to remind me.
"That bite from me... could have killed you. There is only one reason it didn't. Do not provoke me." I scoffed, and he let go of me. "You will be staying here till I find out what to do with you,"
"Wait!" He stopped but didn't turn. "Let me out of these chains,"
He ignored me and walked out of the room. I screamed on frustration, struggling against the chains.
The door slowly opened again, and a red-haired woman walked in. Her eyes were olive green and a streak of firery orange. Her hair was wild and curly. Her figure was slender, and the way she walked screamed elegance.
I straightened my shoulders, she walked closer, and folded her hands over her chest.
"Who are you?"
Her voice was somewhat soothing and angelic. There was nothing human about this woman. She wasn't...after all.
"What will you do with that information?"
Her eyes trailed over me, mockingly.
"Well... I am the Alphas' betrothed. You should mind how you talk to me. I could either help or break you. " A small smirk played at the corners of her lips.
"I don't need your help," I gritted my teeth.
She shrugged. "I didn't come to help you, just to see who we'd be killing tonight."
My heart dropped, and I tried hard not to show my fear.
"You werewolves only prove how much of monsters you are. I will kill every single one of you. "
Her eyes flared a bright orange. In a split second, she was next to me and gripped my hair, tilting my head back forcefully. I let out a pained scream, glaring at her. She bared her fangs at me. I could feel her claws digging into my skin. I hissed and bit my bottom lip, holding back another scream.
"You?! Do you even realise where you are?-"
The door flew open again. My eyes darted to the door, and I saw the Alpha again. In a flash, he grabbed the woman and held her against the wall.
"Ember...what do you think you're doing?"
She still glared, baring her fangs at me.
"Stop it." He spoke, and she slowly glanced at him. I watched as her fangs retracted. Just like that. She wrapped her arms around him.
"She started it."
I cocked my brows at her, completely speechless.
"You're lucky he came in. I would have ended your life sooner. " She spat and walked out of the room.
"What did you say to her?" The Alpha asked, his voice low and controlling. His gaze stayed on the ground, but something about him felt off...
"That I would kill every single one of you?" I shot back.
Silence.
Then, slowly, he lifted his eyes. And the way he looked at me. Not anger or amusement, something else that made my chest tighten.
"I don't know how this is possible." He muttered, still keeping his gaze on me. My brows furrowed.
"What -"
He was by my side in a second. I sucked in a breath. His fangs slid out slowly, catching the light. His golden eyes burned brighter than before. My heart beat stuttered, then raced. He leaned in closer and inhaled. Slow and deep...like he was memorising my scent.
"W-what are you doing?" My voice came out weaker than I wanted. He wrapped his hand around my throat lightly and gently tilted my head to the side.
"Don't speak." His breath brushed over my neck, sending a shiver down my spine. Then... I felt something warm and soft against my neck. I froze. A low growl escaped his lips as his tongue traced the sides of my neck.
My fingers curled into the sheets.
This is wrong
Very wrong
"No." He muttered suddenly and pulled back. His expression had changed completely. Dark and conflicted.
"No." He said again, sharper this time.
I swallowed hard.
"What did you do to me?"
He slammed his hand on the wooden table beside him, causing it to crack.
"She can't be killed," He mumbled almost to himself. "I found her," He added quietly. He was so quiet, I almost thought I imagined it.
I stayed quiet, watching him. He was very still, like something in him was about to break loose. I needed to get out of here. I needed to get my hands on my weapons.
His head snapped towards me. I gasped. His eyes were a dark red. His fangs extended further, his chest heaving up and down.
"I have to..." he muttered. "I can't be wrong." And then... he was on me. The bed dipped under his weight. His body pressed mine down completely. I couldn't move. His tongue dragged slowly over my collar bone. My body jolted.
"Mhh," He groaned. Low and rough like he was fighting himself. Then....pain. Very intense and sharp. It tore through my neck, spreading like fire through my veins. A scream ripped from my throat. My body thrashed underneath him, but his grip on my waist was too strong...unyielding.
I couldn't fight him. The pain kept building and burning until my strength gave out. My body went limp beneath him, the pain rendering me useless. I began to feel numb. I lay still, my hands to my side, his fangs still in my neck. Tears trickling down my temple. He finally let go and I gasped weakly. His eyes met mine.
Something had changed... completely.
"I'm sorry. I won't hurt you again."
