Chapter 215 - The Servant Gun - Jane Powers, turn 584

Ask Pepper about the timeline for converting civilian transport vessel from using hyperdrives to using the Mass Relays

_________________________________________________________________________________

You address Pepper's hologram directly. "What's the timeline for converting civilian vessels from hyperdrives to relay-exclusive operation?"

Pepper taps her datapad, her enhanced intellect processing vast datasets instantaneously. "Total civilian fleet across both galaxies stands at 1.73 billion registered vessels. With the relay network at seventy-three percent completion, we can begin conversion operations immediately." She swipes through several displays. "Current shipyard capacity allows processing approximately 18,000 vessels daily. That puts complete fleet conversion at ninety-six days from commencement."

Behind you, Leia gasps sharply as Satine's mouth finds sensitive flesh. Padmé murmurs encouragement in Basic.

"Processing rate assumes no bottlenecks?" you clarify.

Pepper nods. "Correct. The combined genius integration means we can parallelize operations across 847 different shipyard facilities simultaneously. Stark's modular conversion bays, Richards' spatial compression for queuing, Doom's automated workflow systems. Each facility handles twenty-one conversions daily without strain."

You activate the second channel before responding. "Grace, join this call."

Grace materializes beside Pepper's hologram—leather corset barely containing her enormous breasts, multiple piercings glinting, purple streaks vivid in her blonde punk hair. Strategic displays surround her.

"What's the fucking update?" Grace asks cheerfully.

"Pepper just reported ninety-six days for full civilian fleet conversion," you explain. "Start conversion operations immediately. Hyperdrive ban takes effect in 150 days. Government funds all conversions for the next ten years."

Grace's eyes light up with vicious satisfaction. "Oh fuck yes. Total goddamn infrastructure dependence." She grins broadly. "Every civilian ship locked into relay networks we fucking control. No unauthorized fucking colonization, perfect economic monitoring, complete travel documentation."

Pepper's expression shifts to impressed comprehension. "The fifty-four day buffer between conversion completion and ban enforcement provides excellent margin. And the ten-year funding window covers restoration projects—anyone discovering derelict vessels can convert them without financial burden. That eliminates legitimate complaints about accessibility."

"Draft the fucking legislation," Grace confirms, her fingers already flying across holographic interfaces. "Penalty structures for non-compliance, military exemptions for Slipspace vessels, inspection protocols. This is goddamn beautiful control mechanisms, Mistress."

Padmé moans something incoherent behind you. Satine responds with encouragement in Mando'a.

Pepper adds, "Slipspace technology remains military-exclusive. Forerunner reconciliation protocols, Covenant precision matrices, Mass Effect eezo stabilization, Star Wars hypermatter efficiency. Our forces bypass every navigational limitation hyperdrives face while civilians become permanently dependent on relay infrastructure."

"They get free fucking conversions," Grace observes with dark amusement. "They lose independent fucking movement. Perfect fucking trade."
