Chapter 1 - The 108th day

Shapes, colors, even numbers. All of those things have meanings. Ask the right person, and they'll say the number 4 is unlucky, or that a pentagram was actualy a symbol of power before, and so on. Today is my 108th day doing this job. Not the job, the task, to be precise. I've worked in this field of work much, much longer than only 108 days.

"Hey, would you stop sleeping and get up already?" A young woman asked—no, order. The man pulled his cap just a little higher to see her "can't you see I was faking being asleep so you would stop bothering me, princess?"

"I am NOT a princess!" Said the woman who looked like a princess from one of those vilainess isekai story.

"Mhm" the man sat up straight on the train seat he was previously lying on it. "Back on topic. How long did you say we had before reaching destination, princess?"

"Would you stop!... *Sigh* a few hours, maybe a day if the weather is bad."

"That's great!", "what is so 'great'?", "it mean I only have to deal with you for five more hours."

The girl raised a brow "I said it might take a day if we're unlucky. How can you be so confident it will only take five hours? The only way to make the travel take this short would be if luck bless us."

The man smirk, as his eyes, somewhat hidden by the shadow of his cap, looked up at her "we have traveled together for 108 day. I thought you would know that I don't speak if I'm not sure what I'm saying is correct."

"Cocky bastard..." The girl mumbled, before heading to the small washroom.

The Courier's eyes followed her "wait for it..." Then a scream could be heard from the direction the girl went ``and here is why I'm happy this will soon be over... Well, time to go pretend I didn't see this comming and that I never noticed that other guy walking out with a small knife hidden inside his tie, which if I had to guess he used to cut the victim's troath``

The girl let out a scream as she opened the door to the washroom. He corpse of a man laid on the floor, troath slit. "You know, sometimes it get boring to always be right" the girl was startled by the sudden voice, which belonged to the Courier "what the!? How–what–when!?!", "okay, princess. Calm down.", "how!? There's a damn corpse right infront of me!", "because. They will think you did it, and then tried to play the innocent witness by screaming. Or not, who know?"
