Chapter 34 - Chapter 33: “Private Kiss at Last”

Monday night. We finally returned to the apartment after our little date, the streets now quiet, the city lights reflecting in Ethan's eyes. My heart was still pounding from the walk, the teasing, the almost-kiss at the park.

As soon as the door closed behind us, he turned to me, eyes dark, intent, a slow smile tugging at his lips. "Finally… alone," he murmured, stepping closer.

I swallowed, my chest tightening. "Ethan…" I whispered, voice trembling, both nervous and excited. "After today… I…"

"You don't have to say it," he interrupted softly, cupping my face in his hands. "I know. I feel it too. More than anything."

The air between us was thick, electric. I could feel his warmth, the gentle pressure of his hands, the way his eyes searched mine, asking permission without words. My breath hitched, and I nodded slightly, heart racing.

Slowly, deliberately, he leaned in. This time, there was no hesitation, no holding back. Our lips met in a kiss that was soft at first, tentative, savoring the moment. But it deepened quickly, passion building as our bodies pressed closer.

My hands slid up to his shoulders, then tangled in his hair, pulling him just a little closer. His hands moved to my waist, holding me firmly, yet tenderly. It was a kiss that spoke of weeks of tension, longing, and unspoken feelings finally breaking free.

When we finally pulled back, our foreheads rested together, breaths mingling, hearts racing in sync. "Lara…" he whispered, voice low and full of emotion. "I've wanted this… wanted you… for so long."

"I… I feel the same," I admitted, chest still tight from the intensity. "Every time we're close… I want more. I can't stop thinking about you."

He smiled, pressing a gentle kiss to my temple. "Then we don't stop," he murmured. "Not now, not ever… as long as it's us."

I laughed softly, leaning into him. "I think… I'm falling… more and more, Ethan."

"And I've already fallen," he admitted quietly, holding me tighter. "But tonight… tonight, it feels different. Like we're finally… really us."

The living room felt warmer, cozier, though nothing compared to the heat building between us. Contract rules, obligations… they still existed, yes, but in this moment, they faded away, irrelevant compared to the truth of our hearts.

"I'm scared, though," I whispered, resting my head on his chest. "Scared of how much I feel for you."

"Good," he said softly, chuckling against my hair. "Because I feel the same, and it scares me too. But maybe… that's the best part. Feeling everything… together."

And in that quiet apartment, wrapped in each other's arms, the first intentional private kiss wasn't just a release of tension—it was a promise, a beginning, and a fire that neither of us wanted to put out.
