Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Six Locked Underground and Her music box

Mono looked at the leaf-covered ground ahead and frowned.

These leaves were the perfect natural cover. Given the Hunter's nature, he would absolutely not pass up setting dangers here.

Mono looked around, picked up a long stick from the ground, and began to probe his way forward as he walked.

Just as he expected, the leaves concealed a net trap and even a giant iron snare.

The triggered iron snare even snapped his wooden stick clean in two, showing its power.

If he hadn't carefully probed the path, what was broken now might not have been wood.

Mono continued like this, probing and walking his way forward.

Along the way, he avoided many dangers and crossed many terrain obstacles.

Finally, the ground suddenly became level and clean again.

Ahead, light suddenly appeared.

In the darkness beneath the trees, light meant people.

However, Mono didn't think meeting people in this gloomy forest was something to be happy about.

The only living person dwelling here was likely the very one responsible for its eerie terror—the Hunter.

Though not happy about it, Mono still slowly crept forward, cautiously heading towards the light.

Before long, in the distance, a dilapidated, dimly lit wooden cabin appeared before his eyes. It seemed buried in darkness, illuminated only by faint, flickering candlelight.

Mono slowly approached the cabin.

The area around the cabin was eerily quiet, with only crows cawing.

Mono no longer had any doubts.

There was light inside, meaning someone was there, which indicated this was the Hunter's dwelling.

"Then, Six should also be locked inside?" Mono couldn't help but think.

But soon, he slapped his own mouth.

"It's Sixth Brat. Right now, I'm Mono. She betrayed me later. This 'little' girl is definitely a dangerous one."

Mono quickly remembered the identity he was representing now.

Little Six betrayed him later, forcing him to be cautious.

"This girl's temperament is unpredictable, hard to guess. Should I let her out?"

Mono hesitated for a moment, then moved his feet again, climbing towards the open window.

He decided to let Little Six out after all.

Although Little Six ultimately betrayed him, one point couldn't be ignored: Little Six was strong.

At this special moment, perhaps he should make 'friends' with her.

Mono climbed over the windowsill and landed on the floor.

This room was empty.

Inside stood an old, worn wooden Table. On it lay pieces of bright red meat that looked like skinned mouse carcasses.

Under the dim light, a faint smell of blood seemed to waft from them.

Mono was already accustomed to it.

He directly ignored the smell and slowly walked towards the door.

Opening the door a crack, he listened for a moment.

It was somewhat dark; the hallway wasn't well-lit.

Fortunately, there were no other unusual sounds, meaning the Hunter wasn't nearby.

Mono remembered that Little Six seemed to be locked in the basement.

He moved his feet and began searching around.

When he reached a stairwell, he suddenly heard a faint melody by his ear.

The music was calm, like wind chimes, seemingly able to soothe the heart.

If listened to carefully, an agitated person might calm down.

However, hearing such clear, tranquil music in this dark, sinister house was a different experience altogether.

Someone unaware might be scared out of their wits.

But a smile suddenly appeared on Mono's face.

How familiar this music was.

Wasn't it the sound emanating from the music box Little Six always carried?

So, Little Six must be in the room downstairs.

Mono stepped down the ladder, heading towards the basement.

Before long, he reached the basement.

It was even darker and more oppressive than the ground floor.

An ordinary person staying in such a space might have their spirit crushed and fall ill within a day.

Guided by the sound, Mono walked to the front of a small room in the basement.

Peering through the door crack with the dim light, he saw the situation inside the small room.

A Little person about his size was quietly sitting on the floor inside the small room, head bowed, holding a dark "box" in her arms.

The music was spreading from within it.

"Little Six and her box?"

Seeing this, Mono quickly confirmed the identity of the person in the room.

This was his future creditor, the ruthless and taciturn Seventh Master, Seventh Sister, also commonly known as Little Six.

Mono tried to pull the door open, but this door was clearly designed for adults; he didn't have enough strength to open it.

He glanced around, and his eyes lit up.

He walked over with steps.

"Whoa~ so heavy!"

A huge axe was now in Mono's hands.

"Screech~"

Mono couldn't lift the axe, which was about twice his height. He could only drag it closer to the door.

Then, without another word, after gathering strength, he used every ounce of his might, swung it up, and smashed it towards the wooden door.

"Bang~"

The wooden door was directly smashed open with a large gap.

Mono stood in place, panting heavily.

"I'm so useless."

Seeing his own disappointing performance, Mono felt frustrated.

After catching his breath for a while, he slowly stepped over the opened gap and entered the room.

Six inside the room had long been startled by the sudden door smashing, In a panic, he hid in the shadows under the table., even her ever-tightly held music box was temporarily dropped to the side.

Mono slowly walked in.
