Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: “New Beginnings”

Monday morning.

Sunlight streamed through the apartment window, casting a warm glow over the space where Isabelle and Marco were enjoying a rare, quiet breakfast together. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee mixed with the soft hum of the city waking up outside.

"Feels strange, doesn't it?" Isabelle said, stirring her coffee. "No threats, no manipulations, no chaos… just us."

Marco smiled, leaning back in his chair. "It does. But it also feels right. After everything we've been through, we deserve this calm. We deserve to plan… a life together."

Isabelle's eyes softened. "I've been thinking about that. About the future. About dreams we've put aside while fighting all these battles."

"And?" Marco leaned in, curious.

"I want to travel more, Marco. See places we've only talked about. I want to wake up somewhere new, feel life outside the chaos," she said, her voice filled with quiet excitement.

Marco nodded thoughtfully. "I like that. And I want the same. I want to build a home that feels safe, filled with love, laughter… maybe even children someday."

Isabelle's eyes widened slightly, and a shy smile appeared. "Children… someday. I like the sound of that. But let's take it slow, enjoy each step first."

Marco reached across the table, taking her hand. "Exactly. No rush. But we'll build our dreams, Isabelle. Together. And after everything… I want every part of life with you."

She felt a warmth in her chest, stronger than any fear or doubt she'd carried. "I want that too, Marco. Us… facing life together, not just surviving, but truly living."

Later, they walked through the city streets, hand in hand, enjoying the normalcy of being just a couple. They laughed at small things, joked about trivial matters, and basked in the simple joy of being together without danger looming over them.

"You know," Isabelle said, glancing at him, "it feels like we finally get to write our story, not just react to someone else's chaos."

Marco smiled, brushing a lock of hair from her face. "Yes. And the best part? We're co-authors. Every step, every choice… together."

Isabelle laughed softly. "I like that. Co-authors. Feels powerful, doesn't it?"

"It does," Marco agreed. "And soon… we'll have chapters filled with travel, adventure, laughter… and maybe even tiny footsteps running around the apartment someday."

Isabelle rested her head on his shoulder. "That sounds perfect. We've survived storms, tests, and betrayal. Now it's time to enjoy life. Just us, and what we build together."

Marco kissed her temple gently. "And whatever comes next… we'll face it like we always do. Together."

As they walked home, the city buzzing quietly around them, Isabelle felt an overwhelming sense of hope. The past had tested them, but now the future… the future was theirs.

And for the first time in a long time, she felt that they could face it with love, laughter, and courage… every single day.
