Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6: The Paradox of Speed

I spent three days on the landing of the third floor, resting my mind and body. The Minotaur was dead, and its heavy essence had been absorbed into my soul. I waited until the final seconds of the Creation Grimoire's cooldown ticked away, ensuring I had my full arsenal ready. I spent that time testing my new power: the Mage Grimoire.

It was a strange, silent book. Unlike the others, it had no "Generation" name. It was pure Grammar. I realized that this book didn't just give me skills; it gave me the ability to rewrite the rules of combat. At Level 1, I could cast basic elemental shards—Fire, Wind, Water, and Rock—without a single word. But the real discovery came when I tried to look at my stats.

My floating books—Slime, Goblin, Minotaur, Creation, and now the Mage Tome—were crowding my vision. I decided to close the Slime Grimoire and tuck it into my Inventory. Immediately, my Water Dash and Strong Mucus skills vanished from my status screen. I panicked for a second until I realized the truth: I can only use the skills of a book while it is open.

I spent hours practicing "Quick-Swapping." Open Slime, close Minotaur. Open Mage, close Goblin. My floating library was a rotating wheel of death.

I tested my Minotaur skills. The Minotaur Eyesight was like the Goblin's, but with high-definition clarity—I could see the pulse of mana through walls. Minotaur Rage was a roar that didn't just taunt enemies; it paralyzed them with fear. Then there was Axe Mastery. The moment I gripped the massive double-headed axe, sixteen years of reading books about medieval weaponry clicked into place. I felt like I had swung this weapon for a lifetime. Finally, I tested Minotaur Shiver. I stomped my foot, and my leg glowed a deep, violent red. The ground buckled, sending a shockwave through the hall that would trip any foe.

I was ready. I used my Creation charges to fix my clothes and manifest enough high-calorie energy bars to fuel my journey. I checked my books, opened my Mage Grimoire, and stepped onto the Fourth Floor.

The Snow of the Fourth Floor

The atmosphere changed instantly. It wasn't dark or damp. It was white. A thick, swirling mist that looked like snowflakes filled the air, making it hard to see more than ten feet ahead.

I moved cautiously, my boots crunching on the frosty floor. Suddenly, a movement in the mist caught my eye. A rabbit. It was small, fluffy, and undeniably cute, just sitting there in the white haze.

"A rabbit?" I whispered, lowering my guard for a split second.

WHAM!

The "cute" rabbit moved faster than my eyes could track. It launched itself like a cannonball, its back legs slamming into my chest with enough force to lift me off the ground. I hit the stone wall behind me with a sickening thud. Before I could breathe, another rabbit appeared from the mist, kicking me again, sending me flying like a ragdoll.

They were playing with me. They weren't just attacking; they were bouncing me back and forth between them like a ball. Every time I tried to land, a fuzzy white blur would strike me from a different angle.

"Enough!" I roared, opening my Inventory and pulling out the Minotaur's Axe.

I swung the massive blade in a wide circle, hoping to clear the area. But the rabbits were too small and too fast. They simply ducked under the swing and kicked me again, their powerful legs bruising my ribs. The axe was too big—by the time I swung, they were already behind me.

The Trap of the Hunter

I quickly closed the Minotaur Grimoire and opened my Mage and Slime books.

"If I can't hit you with weight, I'll hit you with numbers," I hissed.

I used High-Jump to get some distance, but they chased me into the air. I quickly secreted Strong Mucus, creating a massive, nearly invisible web of sticky strands across the corridor. I dropped to the floor and waited.

The first rabbit launched itself at me, but its frantic speed was its downfall. It slammed into the mucus web and became hopelessly entangled. The second rabbit stopped mid-air, trying to chew through the strands to free its partner.

"Got you."

I didn't use the axe. I pointed my finger. "Point Shot."

The condensed beam of mana fired, piercing the trapped rabbit through the skull. It died instantly. I didn't wait. "Learn!"

The soul was pulled into a new, light-blue Grimoire that manifested in the air.

[NEW GRIMOIRE UNLOCKED: THE RABBIT JUMP GENERATION]

[NEW SKILLS: INSTANT TELEPORT (3 FEET), QUICK STEP, DOUBLE JUMP]

The second rabbit realized the danger and tried to flee, but I had already internalized the new data. I used Quick Step, a short-distance burst of speed that matched the rabbit's own movement. I caught up to it and finished it with a burst of Fire Blast from my Mage Tome.

The King of Jump

I didn't stop to rest. I moved through the fourth floor, using my new Double Jump and Quick Step to slaughter every rabbit I found. I was hunting the hunters. By the time I reached the end of the hall, the Rabbit Jump Grimoire was Level 5.

Then, the mist cleared.

In the center of a wide, frozen arena stood the King of Jump. He was the size of a man, his fur a jagged silver, and his eyes glowing with a terrifying intelligence.

He didn't wait for a signal. He launched at me, and I realized my 3-foot Teleport wasn't enough. He could predict where I would land. He kicked me across the room, his strength far surpassing the common rabbits.

"Fine," I said, wiping blood from my lip. "Let's combine the library."

I opened the Minotaur Grimoire for power, the Slime Grimoire for stickiness, and the Rabbit Grimoire for speed.

The King Rabbit launched again. I didn't dodge. I used Strong Mucus to coat my own body, creating a sticky outer layer. When his feet hit my chest, he didn't bounce off—he got stuck.

"You're fast, but you're light," I growled.

I gripped his ears with my left hand and summoned the Minotaur's Axe in my right. I infused the axe with Water Dash and Point Shot logic, turning the heavy blade into a pressurized projectile.

With a roar, I brought the axe down. The King Rabbit tried to kick away, but the mucus held him. The blade cleaved through him, the water-pressure logic exploding outward and painting the white snow red.

[BOSS DEFEATED: KING OF JUMP]

[LEVEL UP! CURRENT LEVEL: 20]

[RABBIT JUMP GENERATION: LEVEL 10 — MAX]

I stood in the silence of the fourth floor, five books now orbiting me in a perfect circle. I had gained three more skills from the King: Impact Kick, Sonic Ear (for detecting movement), and God-Speed Burst.

I looked at the stairs to the Fifth Floor. I wasn't just a survivor anymore. Between my SSS-Class Mage Grammar and my specialized monster Generations, I was becoming something the Creators of this dungeon never intended.

I wasn't just reading the book anymore. I was writing it.
