The sledgehammer demon's body was still bent from the impact when Reiji pulled his fist back. The demon staggered several steps, clutching his stomach as his damaged organs slowly regenerated. Reiji watched him recover without showing the slightest bit of concern.
"Who said you could leave?"
The sledgehammer demon's eyes widened.
Before Reiji could move, the katana-wielding demon rushed forward. His blade flashed toward Reiji's neck, forcing him to turn his attention away from his previous opponent. Reiji raised his arm and blocked the incoming strike, the impact sending a metallic clang through the room.
The katana demon continued attacking without giving him a chance to counter. Strike after strike came from different angles, forcing Reiji to retreat while the sledgehammer demon used the opportunity to recover.
'So that's what they're doing.'
