Chapter 47 - Chapter 47 – The Thing in the Void Wound

The eye inside Prime's chest opened fully.

Not flesh.

Not light.

A depth that looked back.

The entire Zero Vault groaned as if reality itself recoiled.

The Root Blade screamed in Aran's hand.

A sound of metal remembering terror.

Lena stepped backward for the first time in many chapters.

That alone said enough.

Kalen whispered,

I officially miss ordinary apocalypse."

From within the void wound… something breathed.

Not Prime.

Through him.

Using him.

The First Witness spoke in horror.

"The breach rides inside the wound."

Prime did not deny it.

His expression remained almost calm.

"I contained it."

A pause.

"For an age."

Seris realized first.

"You did not escape the tomb."

Prime looked at him.

"The tomb failed."

The eye in his chest widened.

And a voice emerged through Prime's mouth layered with another beneath it.

Two beings speaking through one throat.

Mercy weakens worlds.

Every glyph dimmed.

Even Malrec looked shaken now.

Aran understood.

This was no mere corruption.

The Null was touching through Prime.

Not fully free.

Close enough.

The Witness shouted,

"Seal the wound before it opens!"

Prime laughed.

But it was partly not his laugh.

"I brought warning."

Then colder:

"And inevitability."

The void eye released a tendril of black starlight.

It struck one of the awakened binders.

No explosion.

No wound.

The binder simply… unraveled.

Turned into drifting symbols.

Erased.

Lena whispered,

No."

Seris roared and attacked.

Glyph-blade blazing.

Prime caught it barehanded.

Snapped the weapon.

Then threw Seris across the vault.

Malrec answered with black sigils.

Prime shattered them.

The Nine broke into battle.

But it felt futile.

Because Prime was not the only enemy present.

The thing in the wound watched through all of it.

Studying.

Learning.

Aran stepped forward with the Root Blade.

Prime looked almost proud.

"At last."

They met.

Star blade against void blade.

Impact split the vault floor.

Shockwaves raced through ancient machinery.

Aran barely held ground.

Prime pressed harder.

Stronger. Older. Merciless.

"You divided because you feared necessary cruelty," Prime said between strikes.

Aran answered through effort.

"I divided because extermination is not victory."

Prime's eyes hardened.

"Then you still misunderstand war."

The void eye flared.

And suddenly Aran saw—

Visions forced into him.

Worlds consumed by the Null.

Great Sleepers devoured.

Stars extinguished.

Prime fighting alone at the edge of impossible ruin.

Truth mixed with manipulation.

Maybe.

Maybe not.

Aran staggered.

Prime's blade at his throat.

"Join with me."

A pause.

"Become whole."

The temptation hit deeper than fear.

Power. Memory. Completion.

An end to uncertainty.

Lena shouted his name.

It cut through.

He looked at her.

At Kalen bleeding but standing.

At the Witness.

At the binders still resisting.

Then back at Prime.

And understood.

Wholeness through domination was not wholeness.

It was surrender.

He lowered his blade.

Prime almost smiled—thinking victory.

Then Aran released the Root Blade entirely.

It dissolved into pure star-light.

Prime faltered.

Unexpected.

Aran drove both hands into Prime's void wound.

Everyone screamed.

Including Prime.

Because Aran was not attacking the titan.

He was reaching into the breach itself.

Into the thing behind it.

The Gatebrand on his wrist ignited white fire.

The Custodian shouted,

"He is interfacing with the breach!"

Kalen yelled,

That sounds unhealthy!"

Inside the wound—

Aran touched something vast.

Cold. Endless. Hungry.

And something touched back.

A voice older than the Sleepers whispered directly into him.

Little fragment… you remember me.

His blood froze.

Because somewhere impossible—

He did.

The mark on his wrist split open in light.

A third symbol appeared.

The First Witness stared in horror.

"The Sovereign Mark."

Prime's face changed.

For the first time—fear.

Then the vault began collapsing.

And from the depths below the root…

Something enormous started waking.
