Chapter 2: The Silence
The ants didn't stop. Dan
continued spitting them out, each one carrying a memory he'd tried to bury.
Then he said, "What is your name? The hell are you the devil?" The-Crowned-Deep
said, "No, I'm much older; I was born before the world existed, but I was born
for deception. And I was made into the world for the conclusion of death to all
things that exist and don't exist. I'm older than the first Adam, older than
Eve. When God remakes the world, you shall dissolve into my existence because
you preferred my mercy over God's.
Dan's vision blurred. The
ants had reached his eyes now. Eating away at his last fragments of purity. Dan
has found truth in the regret of lies.
"Just accept damnation;
you were never worthy!" The-Crowned-Deep's teeth have almost worn Dan to his
wits' end. Dan stops fighting, falls silent, then falls into deep
darkness.
The-Crowned-Deep goes
silent…
"… I've wo…"
The ultimate mercy or the
ultimate goal of the enemy; he no longer knew the difference.
