But honestly, whether or not he could beat Hank, there was no way they could just let him casually join the team. After all, Aoba Johsai's overall roster had already been decided. Even with the finals coming up next, he still had to coordinate with the team.
Otherwise, everything else could be set aside.
In the end, the team came above all else.
"Since Hank has already agreed, let him try."
When Coach Irihata saw that Hank had already agreed to Kentaro's request for a one-on-one, he could not say much else. He could only let them begin. The outcome was already very clear.
All he could do was watch the two of them duel.
"Let's begin."
Hank ignored the voices around him speaking up on his behalf. He simply looked calmly at the unruly boy in front of him. Speaking of it, he understood the feeling of not wanting to be controlled by those seniors. After all, when he had first arrived here, he had faced all kinds of problems too.
But as his strength and talent had been displayed, the voices questioning him had grown fewer and fewer.
And now, the Kentaro in front of him had probably seen that Hank had already succeeded in establishing himself in this unfamiliar place, so deep down, he also wanted to achieve something. But honestly, his current state was far too reckless.
A normal person would not act this way.
"Bang!"
After a simple toss, Kentaro directly smashed the ball toward Hank's position. Because his form when putting power into the hit was too strange, the people around them immediately began discussing it.
"That guy still serves like that. His whole body looks like it's about to launch itself. It's practically like a cannonball!"
"His power is definitely undeniable, but his attitude is far too poor. Volleyball is a team sport. If he wants to stay, he has to cooperate with the team. He can't act based only on his own ideas!"
When many of the onlookers saw Kentaro begin to unleash his power, they could not help muttering to themselves. To be honest, if they were only comparing their usefulness to the team, Hank absolutely crushed Kentaro in front of him. But in a one-on-one...
There was still danger.
After all, they knew that aside from his physical gifts, many of Hank's fundamentals were actually not that solid.
But very soon, they were stunned by Hank's performance.
They saw Hank leap straight up from where he stood and directly block the ball that had just been hit, sending it back. Seeing the ball return so simply to his own feet, Kentaro's face instantly filled with surprise.
He had not expected it to be so simple.
He had lost to him just like that.
Thinking of this, Kentaro still refused to accept it. He tossed the ball again and spiked it toward Hank's position once more. But without exception, every result was the same. Hank blocked them all, and even now, he had not needed to rely on a set at all.
That approach was, without a doubt, showing the enormous gap in strength between the two of them.
Anyone with even a little sense could see that there was no longer any need for this match to continue. The difference in strength between the two of them was simply too large. At this point, unless something unexpected happened, Kentaro probably had no chance of defeating Hank at all.
