Chapter 8 - CHAPTER EIGHT:THE CORPORATE WAR

The next morning, Logan's private jet touched down in central Lagos under heavy security. The boardroom of Kane Empire towered above the city, glass walls offering a view that usually made Elara feel small. Today, it felt like a battlefield.

Victor Adeyemi sat at the head of the long table, flanked by lawyers and several nervous Kane board members. "Your little wife has caused quite the stir, Kane. Rumors are flying—mutant, experiment, monster. Stock is dropping. Unless you step down voluntarily, we'll have no choice but to expose everything for the good of the company."

Logan's jaw clenched, but he stayed seated, one hand resting possessively on Elara's knee under the table. She could feel the tension in his muscles, the beast barely leashed.

"You've wanted my seat for years, Victor," Logan said coldly. "This isn't about the company. It's about the lab that made me—and the data you stole to recreate it."

Victor smiled thinly. "Proof is everything. And I have footage from the gala. You healing from a bullet in seconds. Imagine what the press will do with that."

The room erupted in murmurs. Board members shifted uncomfortably. Elara's mind raced. This was the moment—she wasn't just arm candy anymore.

She stood, voice clear and confident. "Before you vote, look at the numbers. Under Logan, Kane Empire grew 47% last quarter despite market dips. Victor's last company lost investors after three failed takeovers. He's not offering stability—he's offering fear."

She slid a prepared tablet across the table. It showed financial projections she'd stayed up half the night analyzing with Logan's team. "My proposal: a new subsidiary focused on advanced biotech—using Logan's… unique insights legally and ethically. It'll turn the 'rumors' into billions in patents. Vote against Logan, and you lose that future."

The room went quiet. Several board members nodded slowly. Victor's face twisted in anger.

Logan looked at Elara with open admiration, the romantic conflict easing for a moment into pure partnership. "She's right. And if anyone leaks what I am, I'll make sure the world knows exactly who funded the original experiments."

The vote was swift. Logan kept control—barely. Victor stormed out, slamming the door.

In the private elevator down, Logan pulled Elara into his arms, kissing her fiercely. "You saved the company today. No one has ever stood with me like that."

She smiled against his lips. "We're in this together now. Fake contract or not."

But as the doors opened to the underground garage, Logan's phone buzzed. A message from an unknown number—clearly from inside the pack:

Aria was right. The beast is waking. If you won't give us the girl, we'll take her ourselves. Tonight.

Logan's claws extended halfway before he forced them back. His eyes met Elara's, filled with love, fear, and the growing certainty that the war was no longer just corporate.

It was personal.
