Chapter 1 - Murphy's law

'Damn it... what was that saying again? Whatever could go wrong, would go wrong. I think it was Murphy. But I am not sure.'

Luka thought to himself as he sprinted through the dark forest under the ambient moonlight. Following close behind him was an angel of sort. Although she could not be purely described as an angel.

She did indeed have the wings of an angel. However, appearance-wise, she looked more like a six or seven-year-old girl with styled pink hair in a ponytail braid.

Luka, on the other hand, was not much bigger than Stella. He had sleek brown hair brushed back in soft waves and a naturally handsome face. Both of his eyelids had been sewn shut with fine black thread in neat X-shaped stitches. He was wearing an old leather jacket, boots, and a small cloth that he was holding to prevent liquids from spilling out the side of his stomach.

A kind of multi-colored gooey substance was leaking out of his insides. It looked like a sort of fancy paint that contained all sorts of colors mixed together to give it a glossy look.

However, in reality, this was actually his blood.

Technically not blood per se, but in order to describe it, if you could call it that, his blood took the form of a sort of encrypted code-like substance. But now that same code-like substance was being converted in real time into this glossy, multi-colored liquid.

And if you saw him, you would instantly understand the predicament he was in just by looking at him.

And all this was because he allowed himself to get shot by that gun a while back.

'Meh... So tight. I think I am going to die.'

The pain was unbearable for Luka. Luke Kovaršić that was his name as he hopped through the woods, almost tripping countless times.

"Master, are you okay?" said the angel following behind him. Her name was Stella.

"It's okay, I'm fine," said Luka as he almost stumbled to his feet yet again.

"Don't worry, Master. We will get you somewhere safe," Stella said with all the confidence in the world.

Luka only smiled as he continued to move forward, applying pressure to the expanding wound by the side of his gut.

He at last could not bear it any longer as he fell to his knees before painfully flipping himself over to rest with his back leaning against a large tree.

"St-Star Master, are you alright?" Stella asked innocently as she hovered above him.

"I can't... I can't move any further," Luka said as he began to cough out the multi-colored liquid.

"Oh Master, you look awful," Stella said with a worried tone, to which Luka only replied with a quiet hum.

"I know. Stella will bring Master something that will help him with the pain. Master, please stay put for Stella. I will bring you something that will make you feel good," she said happily before turning around.

"Wai-"

Luka stretched out his hand, but before he could even stop her, she had already disappeared into the distance.

It was things like this that made him think that perhaps transmigration to this world was a huge mistake.

Luka was tired as he brought down his hand in exhaustion, breathing out ragged breaths.

And it was not even five seconds later when a shadow loomed over him.

Luka opened his eyes and, upon seeing the figure in front of him, his face went pale.

There was a tall girl in front of him with bloodlusted and a hysterical look on her face. In her hand was a huge axe, as well as lots of blood on her clothing.

'Ah... not now of all times," Luka cried to himself.

"Stella!" he screamed.

"You... I am going to kill you," the girl said as she raised her axe, about to split him in two.

"Wait, wait, wait, wait... let me tell you something, let me tell you something," Luka cried.

"What is it?" the girl said, not lowering her axe, her eyes still bloodshot.

"Please, please don't kill me... Stella!!!" He continued to beg also screaming out for Stella.

"And why shouldn't I?" She said devouring him with her hungry gaze.

"Look, I understand sexual preferences are different for everyone. Take me for example - Although I'm more into milfs and lolis, I can totally understand you having a relationship with your father," Luka said, waving his arm around.

"That said an argument could be made on whether he consents or not. Never mind you raping the old man," Luka muttered under his breath.

"What was that?" an angry voice reverberated in his ear.

"Nothing, nothing," Luka quickly replied. "Like I said, totally normal."

"Did you see it?" Her voice cut through his parade.

"Did I see what?" He replied feigning a look of ignorance.

"The body. I am asking you if you saw it." She reduced the distance between them by an inch whilst leaning in.

"Body, body, body... what body are we talking about here? You know there are different kinds of body. Is it like a dead body? You know, a body of wate—"

Slam!

Luka's heart jumped as the axe was slammed just above his ear, causing a line of blood to leak out.

"Oh, oh, oh... body. You mean like a human body. A physical body. Your body, right? The one you are in now... umm, I see, I see."

However, in reality, the only thing he was seeing was the scary expression on her face, with the retina in her eyes glowing crimson.

Realizing he could no longer prolong the situation, he answered with the solemn truth.

"Yes."

Immediately following up with a line of continuous words, he said, "But you don't have to worry. I'm not going to report you. In fact, if you let me escape, I promise you will never see my face again. I can swear on it with my life."

The girl thought for a moment before looking him dead in the eye and asking,

"How do I know I can trust you?" She clicked her tongue, a sharp tsk escaping her lips.

For a moment Luka was silent.

But almost immediately, he regained his composure and despite the worsening pain in his gut, he managed to squeeze out a smile.

"Well, luckily for you, I am a very trustworthy person." He feigned a trustworthy smile - naturally.

"Umm... is that so?" She tapped the wooden handle of the Axe against her palm.

"Absolutely," he adjusted his tone. "After all, you would not know unless you gave me the chance, right?" He said, delivering it with the execution and precision of a seasoned salesman.

"Ummm, I guess you are right." She said with a contemplative look on her face.

Luka let out a sigh of relief.

"Does that mean you are going to spare me?"

"Ummmmm... no."

"Whew, I assure you, you made the rig-- wait, what?"

"I said no."

"Wai-- whyyyyy?" Luka raised his hand which at this point had become numb due to excessive blood loss.

"Goodbye." She said, her face wide with a smile that wasn't a smile.

In that moment, the axe came down, splitting him in two from the head to the gut.

There was a surprised and disbelieving look on his face, now divided into two equal halves.

The girl wiped the axe clean on his clothes as she left.

A while later, Stella appeared from thin air.

"Master, look what I got here," she said, holding a small decorative cube with many dazzling embroidery patterns.

She got to the tree and, upon seeing Luka's decapitated body, she pouted her lips.

There was an upset look on her face.

"Oh Master, you have gone and died without me... this makes Stella really sad," she said, lowering her head.

"I know!" she said abruptly with a jolly demeanor. "I'll revive Master and then we can start all over... don't worry, Master, this time I'll fix it for sure."

Stella said as she disappeared.
