One year later, y/n is attending a lecture at POSTECH University. She is focused, sitting in the front row and taking notes on her laptop. The professor informed the class that their final exam is approaching in a few days, so they should prepare.
The class was dismissed.
Y/n packed her laptop and notebook into her backpack and left to get lunch. She decided to buy kimbap from a nearby shop and enjoyed it in the open area.
"Hey y/n, how are you?" Ju-won asked. "Oh hey, Ju-won. It's great to see you again. I really appreciate the tour and all the resources you provided. As a thank you, I brought you a snack," y/n said, giving him the snack. Ju-won expressed his gratitude as he enjoyed the snack. "Final exams are just around the corner. This week is going to be tough. Everyone will look like zombies," Ju-won chuckled. "Not me, well maybe. More like a dead battery," y/n joked.
"I never got a chance to ask how Jimin is doing. I tried reaching out to him, but I just got his voicemail. Do you have any information regarding his whereabouts?" "The last time I spoke to him was when he was occupied with his tour featuring several special guests. He should be finished by now. I can tell you this, if you wish to reach out to him, I can provide you with his number so you two can meet up.
Y/n gave Jimin's contact to Ju-won via KakaoTalk before getting a call from Jin.
Jin was waiting patiently in front of the university with his cool vehicle for his girlfriend. He noticed y/n running towards him at full speed before they accidentally bumped heads.
"Ouch. That hurt. Do you remember what the doctor said?" "Not to do silly things that hurt my head?" "No, silly. To protect your head from what just happened. Our heads collided."
Jin opened the door for y/n; she set her backpack on the floor, climbed in, and buckled her seatbelt before he closed the door. Jin quickly got in on his side, did the same, and drove off.
They reached Taehyung's welcoming new home, eager for a surprise inside.
"Guys, shhh, Jin and y/n are here. Quick, hide," Jimin whispered. Jin and y/n walked into the house, which was completely dark, until J-Hope suddenly appeared in a flower costume and shouted, "SURPRISE."
Y/n dashed over to J-Hope, and they began jumping up and down and doing a goofy dance.
"I've never seen this side of y/n before," Taehyung remarked while sipping his wine. "You don't see this every day. She acts like this whenever she's happy," Jin responded. "Alright everyone, let's calm down and raise a toast to Taehyung's new home and everyone else's achievements," Jungkook suggested.
They all raised their glasses, drank the wine, and started eating. After they finished their meal, they gathered on the floor, unaware of the surprise y/n was about to share.
"I have 2 wonderful news to share with everyone. I got an internship opportunity in the States to visit NASA at the end of the year," y/n exclaimed, filled with excitement.
Everyone was taken aback while Jin covered his eyes.
"Why are you covering your eyes, Jin?" Suga asked. "Oh, my mistake, I meant to cover my ears. I already know the second news, so I'll just not listen," Jin replied, covering his ears. "The second good news is: Jin and I are engaged, and we plan to get married next year."
The room went quiet until Jungkook stood up and began jumping on the couches.
"Hey, don't do that here; do it at your own place, not mine," Taehyung shouted. Jungkook ignored the warning and kept going until Taehyung tackled him.
They returned to their places to congratulate both Jin and y/n.
"Before we all head out, I have one question. Did the doctor give you a complete thumbs up that you're cleared to leave after that incident a year ago?" J-Hope asked, looking down. "I'm feeling better now after following the doctor's advice and steering clear of certain things, but I have my final doctor's appointment tomorrow to check the results. I'll keep you all updated; well, Jin will be the one sharing the news with you," y/n replied with a slight smile.
{Flashback to the incident a year ago}
Y/n was lucky to survive after reaching the hospital in time, but her condition was critical. She remained in a coma for two months due to the significant blood loss from a severe head injury. Her two friends visited her and shared all the latest gossip that emerged after the terrible LIVE event. After their visit, each member took turns keeping watch over her, hoping she would awaken from her coma.
Then, after two months, one unexpected night while Jin was by her side, her heart monitor began to beep suddenly. Jin stood up, held her hand, and said, "Baby, I'm here. Please breathe; take small breaths."
Y/n began to breathe slowly as she opened her eyes for the first time in two months. Jin pressed the button to summon the nurse and doctor to let them know y/n was fully awake. The doctor and nurse rushed in with tears of joy.
It took some time for y/n to recover after being released from the hospital months later. Once she was fully healed, she returned to class, graduated from high school, and started living a normal life.
On the other hand, Namjoon was charged with four counts: abuse, stalking, kidnapping, and attempted murder. He received a sentence of about 20 years in prison, but it was later reduced to 10 years. Namjoon's arrest made global headlines. What shocked everyone the most was what the authorities discovered in his apartment.
Breaking news: authorities executed a search warrant at the residence of K-pop idol BTS member Namjoon. They uncovered numerous photos of y/n, along with stolen items belonging to her. They also found a broken mannequin that looked like y/n, and a blueprint that outlined his detailed plan for revenge against y/n. Plus, many other items were found.
The news spread rapidly. In court, a witness spoke out against Namjoon and mentioned Taehyung, but Taehyung was let go because there wasn't enough evidence to convict him. However, with one witness, she realized she had to do something.
"Hi, I'm Ra-hee, and I need to confess something I wasn't meant to reveal because someone was trying to blackmail me. On that day at the convenience store, I secretly recorded the chat between Jin and y/n. Taehyung hired me to pose as a fan of Jin, but it was actually Namjoon who set me up. I had met Namjoon before this incident. He was the one who proposed the idea because I was easy to control and follow his orders. I simply did what Namjoon asked of me: the recording, so he could share it anonymously online for the whole South Korean community to understand what kind of person y/n is. That was his instruction before he shifted the blame onto Taehyung. Taehyung merely handed me the money that Namjoon had given him to pay me, and I won't speak a word about it. I accepted it and never spoke to Taehyung. A few months ago, I ran into Namjoon for the last time, and that's when he warned me that he would blackmail me if I ever revealed anything."
After the trial ended, Namjoon was sent to prison. One member came to see him, but Jin stayed away. Jin avoided visiting because of everything that happened with y/n, until y/n encouraged him to go. Jin took y/n's advice and drove to the prison where Namjoon was.
As usual, Namjoon was in his regular spot waiting.
"It took you a while to come see me," stated Namjoon on the other end. "I didn't want to come, but y/n pushed me to do it." "I heard y/n is doing better now. Jimin mentioned it before he left for tour." "Yeah, she's trying to get back to a normal life after you ruined everything for her." "I really wanted to apologize for the trouble I caused you both. I'm truly sorry." "I think you should apologize to y/n instead."
Jin turned and called y/n to join him, and she sat down beside him.
Y/n appeared radically different from her regular self. Her skin was gradually healing, just like her head bandage.
"Y/n, I really want to apologize to you. I feel terrible for the things I did, even though I never intended to hurt you. I'm sorry about the burning incident. I'm sorry for throwing harmful objects at you. I'm sorry for being abusive in the worst ways possible. And I'm sorry for all the other things I've done that have ruined your life. You can hate me as much as you want. I deserve it. I knew from the start that this was my punishment. I didn't think much until I completely lost who I was."
Namjoon was about to leave when y/n finally spoke after a long silence.
"Namjoon, I appreciate your sincere apology and for admitting everything you did to me. Closure is what I needed. I truly hate you, but I believe that one day, this hate will eventually disappear. I wish for you to become a better person again, like you were before we met."
They would never interact or see each other again after that.
All the members, including y/n, began to leave Taehyung's new house and made their way back to their homes.
Jin and y/n arrived in the Cheongdam-dong area where they were living together in a single-family home. They chose to take a final night walk before big opportunities came their way.
"You know, I never got to hear that special song you mentioned you were working on in the last week of May." "Oh, that song. I thought you had already heard it." "Nope, remember I was in a coma for 2 months, so I missed out on everything." "That special song was written just for you. But since you want to hear it, give me a soft hum beat."
Y/n began to softly hum the song that Jin had written specifically for her.

Y/n began to cry at the gentle tune that Jin sang. The lyrics that touched her heart were why they were destined to be together from the start. "I love you, y/n, and I have always loved you since the very beginning," Jin said before kissing y/n passionately beneath the moonlit sky.
Five years later, in their family home in Cheongdam-dong, Jin is chasing after his little version of himself.
"Joon Woo, come here. You need to take a bath before Mommy gets back from NASA after being away for so long. Look, your sister Min-Seo has already finished her task," Jin surrendered by lying down on the floor. "No, I don't want to. I want to feel dirty," Joon Woo laughed.
"If you smell bad, Mommy won't give you a present," Min-Seo said. "Present? Mommy is bringing a gift?" "No, silly. I just said that to make you take a bath. Plus, we are visiting our uncles today, and I'm sure no one wants to hold a stinky person like you."
Joon Woo approached his dad, who was lying on the floor, tapped his leg, and said he was ready for a bath. Min-Seo stayed close by to prevent his twin brother from escaping, as he had done many times before.
Ten minutes later, the doorbell rang, and Min-Seo hurried to the door to see who it was, patiently sitting in front of it. The door swung open, and y/n was finally back from her trip.
"Mommy!" shouted Min-Seo as he rushed to hug her. "Mommy is back home. Yay!" cheered Joon Woo, running to hug her too, only in his underwear. "Welcome back home, dear. Thank goodness you're back. This little goblin is unbearable. He doesn't listen to me when I tell him something," Jin said with a pout. "Well, he's just like you. A mini version of you, so it's not my fault he behaves this way," y/n replied, setting down her things and lying on the floor.
"Mommy, mommy. When will we see the oppas?" Min-Seo continued to pester her. "Sweetheart, let Mommy have a moment to relax. She needs her own time. Come on, let's allow her to rest, and then we can visit the uncles in about an hour," Jin said, taking Min-Seo's hand and also holding onto Joon Woo.
An hour later, they reached Jimin's house. Min-Seo and Joon Woo exited the car and rushed to hug their oppas.
"Hi, Uncle Mochi, Sunshine, Tae, and Suga," they both greeted simultaneously. "Hello, kiddos. It's been a while. Why don't you head over to that table and check out the surprise?" J-Hope suggested, clearing the way.
They dashed over and discovered a table filled with gifts and treats.
"Hey, y/n. How was NASA?" Jimin asked, offering her a drink and food prepared by Jungkook. "It was both fun and exhausting at the same time. The enjoyable part was interacting with the actual astronauts and viewing the control room; the tiring part was handling an excessive amount of work around the clock. There was a moment when I just dozed off at my desk. Thanks to my leadership abilities, we achieved a successful launch. Now that I'm back in South Korea, I'm planning to start working next week at Hanwha Aerospace for my long-term career," said y/n, sipping her drink and eating her food before it got cold.
"Who would have thought little y/n would become a little marvel in aerospace?" joked Jungkook. They all began eating and took turns sharing what they had been up to.
Y/n got up and sat on the grass with her two children, Min-Seo and Joon Woo, next to her, watching the sunset. The group stood up, sat together, enjoying the atmosphere, reflecting on the hectic months and years they have experienced, and wishing that each new year would bring change.
