Elise's scream made every applicant in the hall look over at once.
The man with the scar across his chin pushed away from the wall, one hand settling on his sword while he judged the distance to Hajin.
"Hey, what is going on over there?" he called, starting toward the group with his mouth already pulled into a sneer.
Juna stepped into his path before he reached the first bench.
Her ears flattened while her tail went straight behind her, though she did not bare her claws because that would have made the point too loudly.
"Move it, beastkin," the man said, trying to look past her, "mind your own business and let me see what that noble brat is doing to those girls."
"You have seen enough," Juna said, keeping both hands loose at her sides, "go back to your chair before you make this worse for yourself."
The man laughed once, though the sound went thin when Juna let a fraction of her pressure touch the air between them, then he stopped moving.
