Chapter 73 - Trust and Punishment

Juna stood at the second-floor window with her arms folded, her tail sweeping the floor in sharp arcs while mana lamps traced bright streets between the capital's dark rooftops.

The bond in her chest stretched far beyond the capital walls toward the forest.

'He left the city.'

She pressed two fingers against the window, hoping the contact would sharpen what she felt through him.

Hajin was distant, moving quickly, and the trace of demonic mana still trapped inside her nose smelled like sulfur mixed with spoiled meat.

'He took that disgusting thing outside the city.'

Every instinct urged her to tear through the window and race after him.

She had gained a second wing and evolved into a Lunar Vanguard so she could protect him, yet he had sent her away from the first enemy that made her fur rise.

The order felt worse than any wound.

Juna pushed away from the frame and crossed half the room before her claws slid free.

She reached for the door with her jaw clenched.
