In the Burdwan district of West Bengal, there is a small village named Daudpur. Surrounded by green paddy fields, old ponds, and at the edge of the village stood a dense bamboo grove. Beside that grove was a broken, abandoned zamindar house, about which many stories were told in the village. Some said it was haunted, others claimed strange noises could be heard at night. But during the day, everything seemed completely normal.In this village lived two friends—Rahul and Sourav. They had grown up together since childhood. Both of them considered themselves very brave. Whenever villagers talked about the haunted house, they would just laugh it off.
One evening, while sitting by the pond, Sourav said,"Hey, shall we go to that zamindar house tonight?"Rahul smiled and replied,To see a ghost? Let's go—let's see who scares whom!"They decided to go that very night.Part OneIt was around 10:30 PM. The surroundings were silent, with only the sound of crickets and distant barking dogs. Carrying a torch and their phones, the two set out.As they stood in front of the zamindar house, their hearts began to pound. The door was broken, the windows dark, and there was a strange smell in the air.Let's go inside," Rahul whispered.
Inside, the floor was covered with dust, cobwebs hung everywhere, and old furniture lay scattered. As the torchlight moved around, suddenly a shadow shifted.
Sourav froze.Did you see that?"
Rahul replied, "Probably a cat… don't be scared."But after a while, they heard a sound—Tok… Tok… Tok…
It felt like someone was slowly coming down the stairs.They looked at each other.
Part TwoWhen they pointed the torch toward the stairs, there was no one there. But the sound didn't stop.Suddenly, a whisper came from above—Why have you come…"
Sourav began to tremble.
"Rahul, let's go… this isn't right."
But Rahul still tried to act brave.
"Who's there? Come out!"
A cold wind blew. The torch flickered and went out. The entire house sank into darkness.
In that darkness, they saw a pale face, long hair, and a figure in white standing at the top of the stairs.
Sourav screamed,
"A ghost!"Rahul was scared too, but suddenly he thought maybe Sourav was trying to prank him.
"You're acting, right? Trying to scare me?"
Sourav replied in shock,
"I didn't do anything!"
An argument started between them.
