Chapter 84 -  Rainbow Person: Hard Pass

Rainbow Person:Gengar Addicted to Gaming — Real Footage.mp4

Breeding Person: ?

Breeding Person: Shouldn't it be Haunter? How did it evolve straight into Gengar?

Rainbow Person: It evolved consecutively. And there was no simulated communication field involved—meaning no external trigger conditions.

It went directly from Gastly to Gengar.

Healing Person: Th-that's… amazing…

Battle Person: Rea—really amazing.

Healing Person: !!!

Evolution Person: Oh no, Yellow's system crashed! You idiot, Red!

Battle Person: ???

Evolution Person: @Rainbow Person Where did you buy that black head accessory on Gengar? Such great taste. Can you give me one? Love you~

Rainbow Person: Hard pass. You're ugly.

Rei Akagi twitched slightly and glanced at Rayquaza.

To be fair… it really did look stylish.

Breeding Person: From the video, Gengar looks extremely healthy—its energy even seems a bit excessive. Pay attention to its diet.

Breeding Person: Over the next few days, monitor its energy fluctuations and behavioral changes. As long as there are no abnormal energy spikes, it should be fine.

Rainbow Person: OK. I'll treat you to a meal next time we meet. Logging off now—good night, everyone.

Rei Akagi put down his phone and looked toward the mini Rayquaza perched on Gengar's head.

It was time to begin a new research topic.

On one hand, as a researcher under Professor Oak, the incident involving the Ghost-type energy tide had ended, leaving him temporarily without a research project.

On the other hand, he wanted to test whether scientific methods—or more precisely, Professor Oak's wisdom—could help Rayquaza recover its original form without spending precious Battle Points.

Research on Divine-Authority Pokémon Forms

When Rei Akagi had an idea, he never delayed acting on it.

First, he searched online for existing research—papers, reports, or any academic material related to form changes in Legendary Pokémon.

To ensure accuracy, he even logged into the Pokémon League Academic Forum and carefully browsed through archived research.

One hour later, he closed every page.

The conclusion:

There were indeed many speculations and eyewitness reports regarding changes in the size of Legendary Pokémon.

However, the evidence chains were extremely weak.

The core problem was simple—Legendary Pokémon themselves were already as elusive as myths, let alone researching their transformation mechanisms.

Almost every related study had ultimately stalled due to a lack of decisive proof.

Yet strangely enough, this result actually excited Rei Akagi.

Because others might not know—

But he did.

Legendary Pokémon with divine authority generally possessed two forms.

One was the normal state, typically around ten meters in size.

The other appeared when they invoked their source authority, transforming into colossal beings that resembled walking natural disasters.

The most obvious example?

The two idiots of Hoenn.

When Primal Reversion occurs and their authority returns—

Groudon, vast as a mountain range.

Kyogre, overwhelming like a world-consuming tsunami.

At that point, they truly become living catastrophes.

Without hesitation, Rei Akagi organized the information he had gathered along with his own ideas.

Tomorrow, he would consult Professor Oak.

Yawning, he walked into the living room, scooped up the game-addicted Gengar, along with the Rayquaza sitting on its head, and slowly returned to the bedroom.

The Next MorningProfessor Oak's Office

Inside the office, Professor Oak was currently in a video call with Blue.

"Blue, you can't keep leaving Pokémon alone to guard the Gym. You're handing out so few Gym Badges that complaint calls from the Pokémon League have reached me."

"Don't worry about that kind of thing, old man—"

Blue started replying impatiently, but halfway through he noticed Rei Akagi entering the camera frame. He gave a quick hand gesture as a greeting.

Professor Oak turned around and smiled warmly when he saw Rei Akagi.

"You're here early today. Give me a moment—I just need to say a few more things to this kid—"

Before he could finish, the screen went black.

Blue had already hung up the call without hesitation.

"That child…"

Professor Oak sighed helplessly at the blank screen before turning back to Rei Akagi.

"Alright then. What brings you here?"

"It's about a new research topic I've been considering."

Rei Akagi looked serious as he placed a prepared folder on the desk.

"I'd like you to evaluate its feasibility. If it's viable, I'd really hope you'd participate as well."

"A new research topic?"

Professor Oak immediately became interested. He sat behind the desk and picked up a notebook and pen.

"Go ahead. Explain."

"Professor, while organizing the foundational data used for the Pokédex you compiled, I noticed some minor inaccuracies in the early datasets. But that's not a major issue—those can simply be corrected with updates."

Rei Akagi opened the folder and pointed to a page.

"The key issue lies in the body size records of Legendary Pokémon. That's also the direction of my research."

"The sizes recorded in the Pokédex contradict many verified academic papers and eyewitness reports."

"For example—Ho-Oh."

"Many documents describe its appearance as 'wings blotting out the sky' or 'a majestic body impossible to measure.'"

"But the Pokédex provides very precise size measurements."

"As a tool meant to spread Pokémon knowledge, isn't that somewhat questionable?"

Hearing this, Professor Oak suddenly paused.

He stood up, carefully closed the office door, and returned to his seat before speaking with some hesitation.

"I'm naturally aware of that issue. The continuous updating of the Pokédex has always been entrusted to special Pokédex holders."

"But Legendary Pokémon…"

He opened a drawer and pulled out several old internal research reports, handing them to Rei Akagi.

"In my long-term studies, I've speculated that they may possess dual forms."

"The conflicting records about the same Legendary Pokémon actually support this theory."

After Rei Akagi finished reading the materials, Professor Oak sighed and took the files back.

"But speculation is still speculation."

"Without core evidence, it's nothing more than a castle in the air."

Standing beside him, Rei Akagi felt secretly shocked.

At this point in time, the Hoenn disasters hadn't even happened yet.

And yet, based only on scattered clues, Professor Oak had already inferred form transformations and special states.

That level of insight was simply incredible.

"Professor, the mechanism behind Legendary Pokémon form transformations is exactly the topic I want to study."

Rei Akagi continued smoothly.

"I have some ideas based on… past experience. I'd like to hear your opinion."

Professor Oak looked at him with mild surprise before smiling encouragingly.

"I may be old, but I'm not senile. A few vague words won't fool me."

Rei Akagi nodded.

"I believe the core of Legendary Pokémon form changes lies in the world authority they control."

He paused briefly, then spoke with certainty.

"In their normal state, their size matches what the Pokédex records."

"But once they invoke their authority…"

"They reveal the true majesty of gods."
