Chapter 3 - Necromancer of the Forbidden Academy

He used only ordinary paint to draw this magic circle.

Of course, he didn't just scribble.

That's what it says in the book.

Simply draw the approximate shape with colored materials.

Next, Morris picked up the black cat's corpse from the table and placed it in the center of the magic circle.

He stepped back, examining his work, a hint of fervor involuntarily appearing on his face.

Even he himself didn't realize it.

  An indescribable excitement seized him.

My heart was pounding rapidly in my chest, and the sound of blood rushing through my ears was deafening.

  Fear? Or excitement?

The intense urge to explore the mysterious has overwhelmed everything else.

Now we're just one step away.

  That is—activating the magic circle.

Morris then sang an obscure chant.

"The world of the living has not forgotten you, and the peaceful rest of death is not the end of your story."

He didn't know what language it was, but he could pronounce every syllable fluently.

What's strange is that he was able to understand the general content of what he was chanting.

As the last syllable fell, the air in the warehouse seemed to freeze.

Immediately afterwards, the scarlet lines on the magic circle seemed to come alive, writhing and contracting on the floor, eventually forming a vortex centered on the black cat.

Almost instantly, they all burrowed into the black cat's corpse.

  Then.

  Under Maurice's watchful gaze.

The black cat—the once cold and stiff corpse—sat up gently and steadily.

It shook its slightly messy fur, looked at Maurice, tilted its head, and opened its mouth.

  "Meow--?"

  So the black cat said.

At the same time, Morris felt an unprecedented weakness, accompanied by a sharp headache.

Something inside him seemed to have been hollowed out.

It goes without saying that it must be the so-called "magic".

But it's still bearable, albeit barely.

"Good cat, come here," Morris called softly.

The black cat leaped lightly and landed precisely in Maurice's arms.

It nuzzled Morris's cheek affectionately with its head, purring contentedly, behaving just like any other cat.

However, Maurice could clearly sense that the fur and body he touched still carried a lingering chill.

After all, this is a ghost cat; it is ultimately an inanimate object.

However, Morris didn't care about that.

He stroked the black cat's thin body and said with some heartache, "Good cat, you should eat more."

Chapter 3 is great, he's not mentally ill.

After tidying up the warehouse, Maurice carried his cat back to his dorm.

Scott's bed was empty; he'd probably gone out for a stroll.

That's fine, Morris casually put the black cat on his roommate's bed.

The magnanimous Scott certainly wouldn't mind the extra black cat paw prints on the sheets.

Watching the black cat frolicking on the bed, Maurice closed his eyes and silently thought to himself:

"The Book of the Dharma Master".

The next second, the phantom of a book slowly appeared in his mind.

The book cover is dark, made of an indescribable material, and covered with interwoven starlight.

  But that's not important.

With a thought, Maurice turned a page in the book.

  "Undead Creature Conversion Magic Circle"

This is the title of this page, and also the magic circle that Morris just successfully practiced in the warehouse.

"As expected, this thing was not just my wishful thinking."

Morris opened his eyes and finally faced reality.

That's great, he's not mentally ill.

Upon learning this, Maurice breathed a huge sigh of relief.

This strange book of magic had suddenly appeared in his mind a few days ago.

Just like a real book, he could access and peruse the book of the mage in his mind at any time.

However, much of the book's content seems to be sealed off by some force.

At first, Morris could only see the first few pages, but as time went on, he was able to see more and more content.

For example, the undead creature transformation magic circle appeared last night.

However, what's strange is that although the book is called "The Book of Mages," the content that has been unlocked so far seems to be all about the undead and curses.

Generally speaking, if a normal person suddenly gains such an ominous ability, they will definitely feel some unease and resentment.

  However, Morris didn't care.

Now that you've acquired this special ability, just accept it.

Moreover, given his current level of understanding, it's simply a pipe dream for him to find out the origin of this book.

Having sorted everything out, Maurice climbed into Scott's bed and happily rolled around with his ghost cat.

The familiar cool touch emanating from the cat was still there.

  ...

  The last day of July.

A week has passed since Maurice received the letter from Hogwarts.

In the afternoon, Maurice was weeding in the orphanage yard.

Because it hadn't been maintained for a long time, the yard was overgrown with weeds, which had even submerged the path, making it impossible to walk.

The government, of course, would not waste its precious funds on such trivial matters.

Naturally, the children in the orphanages served as cheap labor.

  Morris wouldn't refuse.

However, almost half of the children slipped away when the caregivers weren't looking, and most of the rest either dawdled or played around.

The personalities of the children in this orphanage can also be glimpsed from this.

  That's really awful.

As he said before, the children who entered this orphanage all had some personality problems.

This is not him gossiping about others behind their backs.

The environment is the biggest dyeing vat, and the children here are helpless.

Fortunately, Maurice was an adult in his previous life, and his personality was not distorted by such an environment.

The two caregivers didn't seem to care, and just strolled around the yard lazily.

Judging from this efficiency, they may not be able to finish tidying up the yard until the end of the summer vacation.

Seeing this, Morris naturally joined the group of people slacking off.

Of course, he wasn't idle while slacking off.

He could also peruse the mage's book in his mind and study its contents.

To others, he just looked like he was in a daze.

  That's one of the advantages.

Being able to slack off without making a sound is a skill that every working person dreams of.

For the past week, he has been trying to learn the magic in the mage's book.
