Chapter 211: The Leaf and the Lattice (1)
The courtyard of the hidden villa did not sleep.
It was midnight. Lyra had moved the entire operation out of the forge, beneath the World Tree. Because it was the source and she refused to work more than twenty feet away from it.
Chalk had covered the ground.
Why the ground you ask? She had run out of paper.
And now a lattice geometry forty feet across sprawled out from the base of the trunk in overlapping white arcs.
SCRAPE.
Cole brought another cart, which contained an anvil, a portable forge, three crates of Star-Iron offcuts, and the prototype housing strapped down under canvas.
"That is the last of it," Cole grunted as he set the handles down.
"Our dear Mr. Halvers wants to know why we are building his tower in a flower bed and not in the place which has the best possible Machinery required to make the Towers."
