Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Preview of the Dragon Gate Convention

Within the ecologically rich forest, numerous Pet Beasts were busily engaged in construction work.

Among them were the one-meter-tall Logging Raccoons, equipped with large incisors and sharp claws, wearing safety helmets; and their evolved forms, the Settlement Raccoons, who stood taller than humans, dressed in safety helmets and work uniforms, with small toolboxes hanging from their bodies…

There were also undead-type Pet Beasts like the Scrap Monster, resembling piles of construction waste, along with its evolved form, the Cement Monster, which looked like flowing liquid concrete, and the Rebar Monster, composed of gray stone with iron rods embedded all over its body…

With the combined efforts of these numerous Pet Beasts, a forest research institute of modest size rapidly took shape before the naked eye.

Not far from the institute, many earth-type Pet Beasts were also working. They quickly excavated a massive pit and dug out water channels, connecting it to a nearby river.

As water flowed in and the water level rose, it didn't take long before a clear blue lake was born.

Watching as the workers moved equipment and resources into the research institute and warehouse, and released schools of Golden-Patterned Koi into the artificial lake, Jiang Xing couldn't help but sigh in amazement for what felt like the hundredth time.

Too strong!

From the approval of funding to the completion of the research institute, it had taken less than a single day!

This was the terrifying productivity of the Beast Taming world?

"Mr. Jiang, we have completed the construction of the research institute according to the architectural blueprint. Please inspect and accept it."

Jiang Xing made a full round of inspection and, finding no issues, signed his name on the acceptance form.

Afterward, he took out a large box of energy cubes, distributing them to the Pet Beasts who had worked hard all day, and also gave each worker a small packet.

The workers initially wanted to refuse, but after seeing the Pet Beasts devouring the food enthusiastically and sensing how much they loved it, they ultimately accepted with gratitude this precious Pet Beast food.

Once they departed by vehicle, Jiang Xing stood before the brand-new research institute, his emotions difficult to calm.

Although this research institute had been applied for under the justification of "needing sufficient space to breed large numbers of Golden-Patterned Koi and their evolution forms," the state, considering that he had already evolved the Rainbow Dragon Hatchling and achieved phased research results, had been extremely generous—not only fulfilling his need for space, but also granting him ownership of the research institute as a reward.

In other words, this research institute fully belonged to Jiang Xing personally. Even after completing the research project, it would not be reclaimed.

Standing on someone else's land versus standing on one's own land were clearly two entirely different experiences—

Even though the scale of this new research institute was far inferior to Dr. Xu's, it was more than enough to fill Jiang Xing with excitement.

He took a large number of photos with his phone—of the research institute, the forest garden, the artificial lake, and also a photo of himself together with the Rainbow Dragon Hatchling—and first sent them to his parents—

In this timeline, although Jiang Xing's identity was still that of a university student, he was a top-tier student in a top-tier major, a doctoral student under a Beast Taming professor, and a well-known figure in his hometown—a classic "other people's child."

His value was comparable to that of a national college entrance exam top scorer.

His parents knew he was promising and were proud of him. After receiving the message, they were not overly surprised, responding more with encouragement and relief.

After sharing his joy with his parents, Jiang Xing transferred to them the two million scholarship that had come along with the funding, allowing them to improve their living conditions.

After all, Jiang Xing had just received his funding and was financially very comfortable. Even selling a bit of qilin wool could bring in a large amount of cash—he didn't lack this scholarship money.

He couldn't possibly let his parents live worse lives than the Pet Beasts he raised.

After sharing his happiness with his parents, Jiang Xing then remembered his social media account, which he hadn't logged into for a week.

Sure enough, people only remember their account passwords when they feel like showing off.

When Jiang Xing opened his account, he found that the comment section of his last post was already filled with wails.

[Boss, haven't you finished your thesis yet?]

[I'm asking on behalf of my Golden-Patterned Koi—if it doesn't see the evolution method soon, it's going to throw a tantrum!]

[If nothing else, at least post a few photos of the Rainbow Dragon Hatchling so we can feast our eyes!]

[Not seeing the Rainbow Dragon Hatchling feels like countless needle ants crawling all over my body. Please update, I'll do anything, I'm begging you…]

Seeing the Beast Tamers' passionate comments, Jiang Xing broke into a cold sweat and quickly posted the photo of himself with the Rainbow Dragon Hatchling—

After thinking for a moment, he also added a caption.

[Recently busy breeding new Golden-Patterned Koi and verifying evolution conditions… now that I have sufficient space, progress should speed up significantly. Everyone, please don't worry… once the breeding process is complete, I will head to Yuzhong Waterfall to hold a grand Dragon Gate Convention. Stay tuned!]

[PS: Thanks to the state for helping build the research institute—very happy!]

As soon as the post was sent, it caused a huge uproar!

After all, although research papers on evolution forms were constantly emerging and many researchers had produced results during their university years… most were fairly ordinary achievements.

A scholar who could gain national recognition and establish a research institute during university was exceedingly rare.

A university student obtaining a dedicated research institute with just a single unfinished paper was unprecedented—even Su Muli had only passed her research institute application after completing multiple projects and achieving several results.

The state's level of importance toward the Rainbow Dragon Hatchling project—or rather, toward Jiang Xing as a newcomer researcher—was astonishingly high.

Many people had previously been joking, but now they genuinely felt that Jiang Xing might become the next "Su Muli"!

In addition, the "Dragon Gate Convention" Jiang Xing mentioned also attracted widespread attention—

It was already known that for Golden-Patterned Koi to evolve into Rainbow Dragon Hatchlings, they needed to "leap over the Dragon Gate."

Thus, if Jiang Xing wanted more Golden-Patterned Koi to evolve and truly complete his thesis, he would clearly need to recreate the Dragon Gate leap process.

This time, it would not be just a single koi transforming into a dragon.

There might be dozens—or even hundreds—of Golden-Patterned Koi simultaneously transforming into true dragons!

Just imagining it made people feel that the scene would be immensely spectacular. No wonder Jiang Xing called it a "Dragon Gate Convention."

This was a truly mythical grand event!

If one could witness that moment with their own eyes, they might become part of history—it would be worth dying for!

Many Beast Tamers left comments, asking for the exact time of the Dragon Gate Convention.

Among the comments, even Su Muli herself appeared.

[Congratulations, junior, on obtaining your own research institute. I look forward to the Dragon Gate Convention in the near future. "Smile emoji"]

Su Muli was just the beginning. Soon, many top Beast Tamers appeared in the comment section, congratulating Jiang Xing and expressing their anticipation for the Dragon Gate Convention.

Among them were even several Champion Beast Tamers from Dragon Taming families, specializing in dragon-type Pet Beasts!

Many ordinary comments were squeezed between these big figures, trembling in fear.

Was Jiang Xing really this popular?

"Rainbow Dragon Hatchling, you're really popular."

Seeing these comments, Jiang Xing couldn't help but sigh.

He was completely unfamiliar with these top Beast Tamers, yet he still received their congratulations—clearly, it had everything to do with the Rainbow Dragon Hatchling.

They had all set their sights on this light-and-dragon dual-attribute true dragon Pet Beast with immense potential.

'If it's already like this with just a basic entry, what would happen if I revealed the effect of Unceasing Heart? They'd go insane, wouldn't they?'

In the Beast Taming world, there existed an item called the Inheritance Stone.

When a Pet Beast wore it, its talent would not change along with its species during evolution.

An exceptionally strong talent could accompany a Pet Beast throughout all its evolutions.

And the Unceasing Heart talent—even among Overlord Tier Pet Beast talents—belonged to the stronger tier, yet it could be obtained at the Extraordinary Level…

That alone was enough to drive Beast Tamers into madness.
