Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The "Undispossessed Native" on the Platform

The Douluo Multiverse Commission Platform?

Now, this was an interesting system.

Suppressing the wild excitement in his heart, Liu Yuan sent the command through his thoughts. In the next heartbeat, a transparent interface flickered into existence before his eyes. Five primary rules materialized first:

Rule 1: The platform encompasses the Douluo Multiverse.

Rule 2: Users of the platform are strictly prohibited from harming one another.

Rule 3: Tasks can be reserved or refreshed, subject to specific daily limits.

Rule 4: Remuneration follows the principle of equivalent value. Transactions are monitored by the platform to ensure fairness and fulfillment.

Rule 5: Upon completion, the platform will erase all traces of the transaction. All gains will be integrated through logical, compliant means to avoid suspicion.

Liu Yuan scanned the text carefully. This time, unlike the games in his previous life, he didn't hit "skip." He tapped on Rule 1, and a flood of information regarding the multiverse filled the screen.

The Douluo Multiverse was a web of branching timelines. A single minute change in the primary timeline could trigger a butterfly effect, leading to the birth of countless parallel realities.

He skipped Rule 2 and focused his gaze on the final three, particularly the fifth.

"Rule 5 is quite the lifesaver," he murmured.

It meant that whatever rewards he gained, the world would perceive them through a lens of perfect logic. If someone saw him with a rare treasure, their mind would automatically conjure a plausible explanation for how he acquired it.

Perfect.

After digesting the mechanics, Liu Yuan tapped Continue. The main interface appeared, divided into two clean modules: [Commission Zone] and [Message Center]. In the top corner sat his assigned nickname:

[Son of Nature]

"Hah, that's quite the title."

Liu Yuan raised an eyebrow. From his memories of the novels, the title "Son of Nature" was usually tied to Tang Wulin or the Golden Ancient Tree. Why had it been slapped onto him? He tried to tap the name to edit it, but three giant red exclamation marks popped up in protest.

A notification blinked in the Message Center: Conditions for name modification have not been met.

He didn't push the issue. Shifting his focus to the Commission Zone, two large options sat in the center of the blank screen:

[Begin accepting commissions?][Yes / No]

As soon as he tapped Yes, a series of rapid pings filled his head. Ten tasks exploded onto the screen. At the bottom, a refresh icon marked with a "1" and a "Reserved Task" slot appeared.

Liu Yuan skimmed the list.

Task 1 (A Rabbit is Born): Help me escape from two Titled Douluo and one Spirit Douluo. (Time Limit: 30 minutes). Reward: One 100,000-year Soft-Boned Rabbit Spirit Bone (Negotiable).

Task 2 (XXX)...

Liu Yuan went silent. The rewards were staggering, especially the first one. But his strength was non-existent. He was a mere child who had just awakened his soul. He could only stare at the treasures with a sigh of longing.

He didn't close the window. Instead, he hit the refresh button. The screen blurred and reset with ten entirely new tasks. Most were still far beyond the reach of a Spirit Trainee without a single ring.

Except for one.

Liu Yuan's eyes suddenly ignited.

Task 10 (The Undispossessed Native): I think I'm going to starve to death. Can anyone give me something to eat? (Time Limit: 3 days). Reward: Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record (Non-negotiable).

Good heavens!

He knew exactly who this was and exactly what that reward meant. The Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record was the foundation of Tang San's power: the Mysterious Heaven Skill, Jade Sky Hand, Purple Demon Eye, Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Step, and the Hundred Separations of Armor-Piercing Needles. In the world of Douluo, the Mysterious Heaven Skill was arguably the premier cultivation method for internal energy.

For someone like Liu Yuan with Rank 7 Innate Spirit Power, this was the ultimate shortcut.

But why was the reward "Non-negotiable"? He tapped the term for clarification.

The Message Center explained: Negotiable meant the requester had other things to offer. Non-negotiable meant this was literally the only thing of value the requester had left.

Without a second thought, Liu Yuan accepted Task 10.

An image flickered onto the panel. Outside a small village called Holy Spirit Village, a scrawny, black-haired boy sat curled against a rock. He was little more than skin and bones, his face so pale it lacked even a hint of color. He looked like a stiff breeze would snap him in half.

Contextual information about this parallel universe filled Liu Yuan's mind.

In this reality, the "Transmigrator Tang San" had lost the mental battle for control against the "Native Tang San." The native child had retained his body, and the memories of the Tang Sect techniques had become his. However, as a mere child with no guidance, he had no idea how to use them effectively. Between the crushing labor and Tang Hao's neglect, the poor kid was literally starving to death.

"Damn it, Tang Hao," Liu Yuan hissed. "How could anyone treat their own son like this?"

The boy was dying. Liu Yuan couldn't stand the sight of it.

He quickly grabbed his storage soul tool and a large bag of his saved allowance and bolted out the door. He bought everything he could find: prepared meals, dried rations, fresh fruits, vegetables, and cured meats. He even tucked ten Gold Spirit Coins into the bag for good measure.

Returning to his room, he scribbled a quick note explaining how to eat safely after a long fast, how to use the storage tool, and a stern warning to hide the tool from everyone—especially his father.

The task only required "some food," but Liu Yuan's conscience wouldn't let him do the bare minimum.

Once everything was packed, he thrust the storage tool and the note toward the interface. The screen rippled like water, and the items vanished.

A second later, a beam of light shot directly into Liu Yuan's forehead. When he opened his eyes, Task 10 had turned gray, stamped with the label [Completed].

The contents of the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record began to flow through his consciousness, every meridian path and technique carved into his memory with crystalline clarity.

The reward had arrived.

Liu Yuan's heart leaped. He immediately discarded the basic meditation method his father had given him and turned all his attention to the Mysterious Heaven Skill. Since the knowledge was etched into his brain, he didn't need to struggle with the complexities of the meridians.

He sat cross-legged on his bed, closed his eyes, and began his first cycle of the Mysterious Heaven Skill.
