Chapter 1 - The red night

Part I - The grand ball

Lovely as the flowers, the nobles danced,

Blooming crinoline and the stolen glance.

For every click of the glass a petal falls,

A step that echoes through the grand ball.

A maiden, pale, and shining with golden light,

A mask so red it hides her from the night.

Her voice, as sweet as the reddening wine,

Dance along with the prince, in cover of nine.

She wore a glass slipper, too big it might,

As the clock hit twelve, ran through the midnight.

To the garden of secret, quickly she fled,

Left the prince with her slipper, questions unsaid.

Part II - Rumours

And as dawn broke, she shed her mask,

Hiding among those who dared not ask.

The prince, meanwhile, sulked in his quarters,

For a maiden had captured his heart but left no answers.

"She, who wears a bloody cloak,

She, who left me a man evoke."

Said the prince who stared straight ahead,

So plain and blank his expression read.

This mysterious woman, so dazzling she seemed,

Left this cold hearted prince staring in a daydream.

Rumours quickly fled from north to south in every direction,

From the servants of the palace to the nobles of connection.

Maidens whispered, whether low or high,

For status did matter for a story this ply.

And so mothers and daughters came about,

On their tables they plan to water the sprout.

But where has that maiden come to go?

And this secret garden, does anyone know?
