Was he a rebel among the Knights of the Round Table?
Was he?
Gawain's vision was filled with the figures of Lancelot and the Purification Knights.
And by his side stood the youth holding Gareth's spirit core, and the girl with Sir Galahad's spirit core.
And who else?
Bedivere followed closely behind.
These few were undoubtedly the three purest and most innocent among the Knights of the Round Table.
Lancelot was a sinner.
He had seduced the Queen and, while rescuing her from the execution grounds, had killed... Gareth.
This was the prelude to the collapse of the Round Table and the beginning of his own distortion.
And then?
Out of personal selfishness, he had intercepted Lancelot, who was coming to reinforce the King, outside Calamity Hill... and then, everything was destroyed.
His beloved King, the Camelot he had sacrificed everything for.
Now... everything was a cycle again.
Only, he had gone from being the King's knight and the King's protector to... a rebel just like Lancelot.
Because the one he now obeyed and protected was not that King Arthur, but... the Lion King!
His green pupils gradually emitted an ominous red light.
"Lancelot, only you, only you, must absolutely not be allowed to enter the Holy City!" The 'Blessing' of the eternal night triggered a rampage, and the rampage caused Gawain's will to fall into chaos once more.
Everything was just as it had been in life, outside Calamity Hill.
Clang, clang, clang—!
The crisp and pleasant sound of clashing blades rang out before the gates of the Holy City.
Two highly skilled Knights of the Round Table began a life-and-death struggle.
The sword edges sliced through everything around them, whipping up clouds of dust.
Gawain firmly guarded the gate behind him; no one could break through the gate under his watch.
"What should we do? We can't break through the aftershocks of those two fighting at all." Da Vinci frowned and retreated dozens of meters, then looked at the others and asked.
"Sun King! If you don't display the radiance of the Sun King now, then when!" Daniel roared loudly toward a certain direction.
"Don't shout so loudly!" Nitocris's voice suddenly came from behind them.
From within a continuously spinning dark purple vortex, Nitocris jumped out, holding a scepter in one hand and a Holy Grail wrapped in red silk in the other, glaring displeasedly at Daniel.
"This is for you, by order of the Pharaoh King." Nitocris handed the Holy Grail to Fujimaru Ritsuka, then looked at Daniel. "For an amateur, the team you organized and the plan you implemented are decent, but before the King's radiance, they are too insignificant."
"Now, have everyone retreat another few hundred meters and wait for the King's radiance. You're too close right now; you're in the way."
After saying that, Nitocris turned and jumped back into the vortex behind her without even an explanation.
"Is this the'spatial transfer' ability Mr. Daniel mentioned?" Someone's focus was a bit off.
"Everyone! Retreat! Retreat!" Daniel shouted at the top of his lungs.
As the temporary commander, Daniel's words were very effective.
The Mountain People and the Sun King's army began to retreat in an orderly fashion.
The next moment, a pyramid emitting golden light suddenly appeared in the sky, and its base opened, revealing... a light bulb underneath?
A massive light cannon first destroyed the outer magical barrier in the form of a shockwave, and then, in the form of a cutting beam, ruthlessly carved a narrow, long passage through the thick walls of the Holy City.
"Now is the time!" Daniel waved his hand. "Sphinxes in the lead! Vanguard, move out! Archers, be ready at all times! The siege battle begins!"
Taking one last look at the battle between Gawain and Lancelot, Daniel broke into the Holy City along with the others.
"Ah? What's going on? I just took a nap, and when I woke up, the city walls were torn down? Hey, hey, hey! Gawain! What the hell are you doing! You even let these pieces of trash in!"
A crimson sword light suddenly slashed down, and the lead Sphinx was sliced in half from top to bottom.
The spray of blood turned the faces of the surrounding siege army pale with fright.
A Knight of the Round Table in full armor stepped out from the rain of blood.
"Sir Mordred." Bedivere looked at his former colleague and enemy with a heavy face.
"Tsk, coward. I didn't expect you'd actually have the guts to break in here." Her helmet was removed, revealing Mordred's disdainful expression. "And... you've all come."
"Mordred, your opponent is me!" Holding her staff, Sanzang jumped out from the crowd and attacked Mordred.
"Leave this to me and the monk according to the plan." Arash pulled his bowstring taut and said while looking at Mordred, "The rest of you, keep moving forward along the path!"
The vanguard units had already engaged the Purification Knights.
But the weak locals were no match for the Purification Knights composed of spiritrons; the casualty ratio was extremely lopsided.
The casualties among the Purification Knights were almost non-existent.
If not for the remaining Sphinxes using their final strength, the soldiers would have lost a third of their numbers before Daniel and the others could organize a counterattack.
"It's no good, the soldiers are no match for the Purification Knights. Senpai, Mr. Daniel, what should we do?" Mash looked at Daniel and Fujimaru Ritsuka in a panic, seeking advice.
There still isn't enough combat power!
Daniel gritted his teeth and used his lance to thrust aside a Purification Knight charging at him.
"Sorry, it seems the plan needs a slight adjustment." Daniel shouted unwillingly, "Da Vinci, can I leave the organization of the battle here to you!"
"Of course, no problem! Leave it to the universal person!" Da Vinci, on the other hand, looked full of zeal.
"Da Vinci-chan!" Mash looked at her reluctantly.
"Leave it to me. The path of the universal person won't end here." Da Vinci punched a Purification Knight away and gave Mash a thumbs-up. "I'll leave Bedivere to you all."
"Yes!" Fujimaru Ritsuka made a decision.
Fighting as they advanced, the group soon approached the palace where the Lion King resided, led by Daniel.
And at the palace gates, Agravain stood guard with five berserk Purification Knights.
"I will absolutely not allow you to pass through here!"
"According to the plan, please leave this place to us." Hassan-i-Sabbah and Serenity suddenly appeared behind the Purification Knights, decapitated them, and then vanished back into the shadows.
"Fujimaru! You and Mash take Bedivere and go ahead. I'll stall Agravain for a bit and catch up soon!" Daniel took a deep breath and fully activated Gareth's spirit core; the scorching spirit core wrapped around Daniel's form like fire.
"We won't wait for you!" Fujimaru Ritsuka nodded and rushed toward the palace gates.
"Don't even think about it!" Agravain charged toward Fujimaru Ritsuka with his sword.
"You're the one who shouldn't think about it!" Daniel's lance intercepted Agravain midway.
The three figures disappeared into the palace gates.
