Chapter 27 - part 25

The hospital no longer felt like a place of recovery.

It felt like a place where time had been quietly rewritten.

Every hallway was too silent.

Every staff movement too careful.

And every decision somehow... no longer needed her approval.

[Morning – Private Hospital Room | Anxin POV]

Light filtered through the curtains softly.

Not harsh.

Controlled.

Like even sunlight had been adjusted.

Anxin sat at the edge of the bed, bare feet touching the floor.

Her hospital file lay open on the tablet beside her.

Still marked:

"Return: Pending Review"

She stared at it longer than necessary.

Then frowned.

"...this is not normal."

She reached for her phone.

Hospital admin access.

Shift schedule.

Case assignments.

Everything she normally controlled.

Frozen.

Not denied.

Not removed.

Just... paused.

As if someone had placed her life on hold without telling her.

She exhaled slowly.

"...who is doing this?"

And before she even finished the thought—

she already knew the answer.

[Hedi POV – Corridor Outside Room]

Wang Hedi stood still near the glass wall.

Hands in his pockets.

Expression unreadable.

But not calm.

Never calm when it came to her.

A subordinate approached carefully.

"Her medical clearance is stable. She could resume light duty."

Hedi didn't turn.

"No."

A pause.

"Sir, she is recovering well—"

"I said no."

That silence ended it.

A second later, quieter:

"She does not need permission to work."

Hedi finally looked at him.

Cold.

Controlled.

"But she will not work yet."

[Anxin POV – Door Opens]

The door opened without warning.

No knock.

No delay.

Just presence.

Hedi.

Standing there.

As if he had always been there.

Anxin narrowed her eyes slightly.

"...you're blocking my return again."

He didn't deny it.

"Yes."

That single word made her sit straighter.

"You can't keep doing this."

"I already am."

"That's not an argument."

"It is reality."

She stood.

Slowly.

Not angry.

But awake now.

Fully aware of him.

Fully aware of what he was doing.

"You are interfering with my career."

"I am preventing strain."

"That's not your decision."

"It is."

A pause.

Then softer—

"You're not listening."

"I am listening perfectly."

"You're controlling."

"Yes."

That honesty made her pause slightly.

[Hair Drying Scene – Extended Intimacy]

Anxin turned away slightly.

"...I just showered."

"I know."

"How?"

"I was waiting."

That stopped her.

She looked at him over her shoulder.

"...you were waiting for that?"

"Yes."

A pause.

"...that's creepy."

"It is efficient."

Before she could respond—

he had already taken the towel.

And placed it over her hair.

Not rough.

Not soft.

Just natural.

Familiar.

Like it had been done a hundred times before.

The sound of the dryer filled the room again.

Warm air.

Low hum.

Close distance.

Anxin stayed still.

But her shoulders... slowly relaxed.

Almost without permission.

"You're getting used to doing everything yourself," she said softly.

"I do not trust delegation."

"That includes me?"

Silence.

Then—

"No."

That answer made her pause slightly.

Hedi's hands moved through her hair slowly.

More careful than before.

Almost unnoticeably gentler.

[Hedi POV – Internal Shift]

Her hair felt lighter in his hands than before.

Not physically.

Emotionally.

Like every time she survived something, his need to ensure she never reached that state again doubled.

She was here.

Safe.

Present.

That should have been enough.

But it wasn't.

Because "enough" implied possibility of loss.

And he no longer accepted that variable.

His hand slowed slightly.

Not because of hesitation.

Because of awareness.

Too close.

Too quiet.

Too human.

[Jealous Nurse Moment – Sharper Version]

A nurse entered with files.

Stopped.

Saw them.

Anxin sitting.

Hedi standing behind her.

Drying her hair.

Too close.

Too controlled.

Too intimate in silence.

The nurse's eyes lingered for one second longer.

Just curiosity.

Nothing more.

That was enough.

Hedi didn't turn.

But his voice dropped instantly.

"Leave."

The nurse froze.

"I need to—"

"Now."

Not louder.

But final.

She left immediately.

Anxin blinked slightly.

"...you didn't have to scare her like that."

"She stayed too long."

"It was one second."

"It was enough."

"...you're impossible."

"Yes."

[Missed Kiss – Slower, Heavier Tension]

The dryer stopped.

Silence returned.

But not empty.

Dense.

Hedi lowered the towel.

Did not move away.

Anxin also did not move.

Too close.

Closer than before.

Closer than necessary.

She looked up slightly.

He looked down.

Neither spoke.

Because speaking would break something neither wanted defined.

For a second—

the world reduced to a fraction of distance.

Breath.

Presence.

Timing.

Then—

a monitor beeped outside.

Sharp.

Interrupting.

Reality returning too early.

Anxin blinked.

"...that was—"

"Interrupted."

"...yeah."

Silence.

Longer this time.

[Anxin POV – Silent Realization]

Something about this space was changing.

Not the hospital.

Not her body.

Him.

He was no longer just protecting her.

He was... adjusting her world.

Without asking.

Without resistance allowed.

And the strangest part?

She wasn't rejecting it anymore.

[Return Attempt – Stronger Resistance]

Later.

Anxin fully dressed.

Coat on.

Hair still slightly warm from drying.

Bag ready.

Walking toward the door.

Hedi appeared instantly.

Not blocking.

Just present.

Already there.

"I'm going to work," she said.

"No."

"I didn't ask."

"I answered."

She sighed.

"...you can't keep freezing my life."

"I already restarted parts of it."

"Parts?"

"Yes."

She frowned.

"...what does that mean?"

He didn't answer.

And that silence was the answer.

[Hedi POV – Full Silent Control]

He had already done it.

case reassignmentshift redistributionadmin restrictionclearance hold under "medical recovery review"security advisory locking external approvals

All silent.

All invisible.

All irreversible without him.

She would only notice one thing:

her life was still moving...

just no longer through her decisions.

[Final Scene – Seo Jisung Clue Intensifies]

Night.

She asleep.

Soft breathing.

Finally resting.

Hedi stood outside the room.

Watching monitors.

Silent.

Still.

A subordinate approached.

"Sir... we decoded another fragment from London relay."

Hedi didn't move.

"Show me."

Audio distortion.

Same voice as before.

Calm.

Too calm.

"She is stabilizing him unintentionally."

Pause.

"But she is also becoming dependent on the stability."

Static.

Then—

"Remove her again, and he will stop being predictable entirely."

Silence.

Hedi's eyes darkened slightly.

Not anger.

Recognition of strategy depth.

Because this wasn't random anymore.

It was observation.

Someone wasn't just attacking.

Someone was studying them both.

And Hedi finally said quietly:

"...so you're watching us."

A pause.

Then colder:

"Good."

Because now—

he would watch back.

Harder.

Deeper.

Until the watcher became visible.
