Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Mastering the Reverse Cursed Technique

Chapter 13: Mastering the Reverse Cursed Technique

Consciousness sank into an abyss of boundless darkness and excruciating pain.

Toho Hiroshi felt like a fragile leaf, struggling in vain within a violent vortex of energy.

Every breath pulled at the burning pain in his eyes; his vision was a constant distortion, fragmentation, and reassembly of color blocks and light spots, accompanied by a nauseating dizziness.

The side effects of the Mangekyo Sharingan were like a persistent gangrene, relentlessly gnawing at his spirit and eyesight.

Amidst this extreme pain and chaos, a clear and calm narration, like a lighthouse piercing through the fog, repeatedly echoed in the depths of his mind—

"The Reverse Cursed Technique achieves healing by multiplying negative Cursed Energy, converting it into positive energy..."

It was Shoko's voice.

"Its core lies in the extreme refinement of Cursed Energy and the transformation formula..."

Delicate fingers traced complex and graceful Cursed Energy trajectories in the air; every turn, every subtle fluctuation of energy, was perfectly replicated and imprinted under the powerful insight of the Sharingan.

"Imagine them not for destruction, but for construction and repair..."

"Precision, the key is precise control over Cursed Energy..."

Countless nights in the medical room, filled with faint smells of smoke and disinfectant, countless failures, countless sweaty attempts, those painful explorations and Shoko's occasional sharp-tongued guidance, all transformed into the most precious nourishment at this moment.

His body instinctively followed the guidance of that memory.

The remaining Cursed Energy, almost depleted by Susanoo, began to circulate within him in an unprecedented, extremely clumsy yet exceptionally determined manner.

Negative Cursed Energy multiplying, transforming, constructing, repairing, precision control... It was like fumbling for a tiny yet crucial keyhole in an endless dark quagmire; his entire spirit was concentrated on this extremely subtle operation.

The pain still existed, but it felt as if it were behind frosted glass, distant and blurred.

After an unknown amount of time, in the depths of that chaotic sea of consciousness, a faint, trembling, yet incredibly pure white light, like a newborn star, stubbornly lit up.

It was so weak, seeming as if it could be swallowed by the surrounding darkness and pain at any moment.

But it truly existed, emitting a gentle and firm vitality... Inside the temporary base, the atmosphere was heavy.

Toho Hiroshi lay on a makeshift bed, his breathing faint, his face terrifyingly pale, with alarming dark circles under his eyelids, and even un-dried blood seeping from the corners of his eyes.

Ieiri Shoko had just completed another round of basic treatment; as the green light faded, she shook her head, her voice tinged with powerlessness: "The external injuries and fatigue are basically stable, but the damage to his eyes and spirit... my application of the Reverse Cursed Technique is limited. He can only endure this himself."

Gojo Satoru, unusually quiet, leaned against the wall, his small sunglasses pushed up on his forehead, his azure Rikugan fixed on Toho Hiroshi, his fingers unconsciously tapping his arm.

The usual flippancy on his face had significantly receded, replaced by a deep scrutiny and a faint trace of worry, imperceptible even to himself.

Geto Suguru sat beside him, also deeply frowning, seemingly processing the immense amount of information from this evening.

A Special Grade Cursed Spirit, a Domain Expansion, and Toho Hiroshi's final burst of terrifying power called "Susanoo."

All of this far exceeded expectations.

Suddenly—

Gojo Satoru's fingers, tapping his arm, abruptly stopped.

His Rikugan caught an extremely faint, yet absolutely unusual energy fluctuation emanating from the unconscious Toho Hiroshi.

It was not the agitation of Cursed Energy, nor the worsening of his injuries.

It was a warm, vibrant, positive energy.

"Huh?"

Gojo Satoru straightened up, an incredulous expression on his face, "You've got to be kidding me!"

Almost simultaneously, Geto Suguru and Shoko also sensed something, abruptly turning their gaze towards Toho Hiroshi.

They saw that on the surface of the unconscious Toho Hiroshi's body, especially around his eyes, an extremely faint but real milky-white soft light began to emanate.

That light was completely different from the destructive purple-black Cursed Energy he had previously released, filled with an aura of tranquility and healing.

"This is..."

Shoko's pupils constricted sharply, her cigarette nearly falling from her mouth, "The positive energy of the Reverse Cursed Technique! How is this possible? He's activating the Reverse Cursed Technique unconsciously?"

Moreover, although this energy was weak, it was exceptionally pure and stable, slowly and specifically flowing towards his most severely damaged optic nerves and depleted spirit.

The stubborn, deep-seated damage caused by the Mangekyo Sharingan, which even her Reverse Cursed Technique struggled to affect, began to be repaired and smoothed out at a visible rate under the nourishment of this gentle and resilient white light.

Toho Hiroshi's tightly furrowed brows relaxed slightly, the painful expression on his face lessened considerably, and his breathing became more stable and prolonged.

This scene completely overturned the understanding of the three people present.

Geto Suguru was utterly shocked, looking from Toho Hiroshi to Shoko, seemingly seeking an explanation.

Shoko was completely astounded; as a user of the Reverse Cursed Technique, she knew better than anyone the stringent conditions and long practice required to master this technique.

This young man, who couldn't even grasp the basics three months ago, had actually accomplished it on his own while on the verge of collapse in a coma?

And the effect seemed to be specifically targeted at his strange eyes.

The most impacted was Gojo Satoru.

The expression on his face had completely frozen; his Rikugan, which saw through all phenomena, was locked onto that faint white light emanating from Toho Hiroshi, as if to analyze every single particle of it.

He, Gojo Satoru, widely recognized as the strongest in the Jujutsu World, a once-in-a-century Rikugan user, had studied the Reverse Cursed Technique for so long without fully mastering it.

Yet, this guy of unknown origin, whose Cursed Energy control was usually terrible and who only relied on those eyes... had actually achieved it before him!

In an extreme silence, Toho Hiroshi's eyelids fluttered a few times and slowly opened.

Those eyes, once streaming with bloody tears and bloodshot, were now much clearer, though still showing fatigue, and the deep burning sensation had almost disappeared.

He blinked a few times in confusion, seemingly not yet fully grasping the situation, and instinctively raised his hand.

A pure and stable white light, like a docile little sprite, quietly danced and flickered at his fingertips.

He looked at the white light and subconsciously murmured, his voice still hoarse from just waking up from a coma: "It seems... I succeeded?"

No sooner had he spoken than he met three pairs of eyes filled with extremely complex emotions.

Gojo Satoru darted to his bedside, his face almost touching Toho Hiroshi's, his azure eyes burning with disbelief, intense curiosity, and a hint of frustration that almost broke his composure.

"You!"

Gojo Satoru's voice was even slightly off-key; he pointed at the faint but incredibly dazzling white light at Toho Hiroshi's fingertip, "You brat! You just conjured the Reverse Cursed Technique? And in your sleep!"

Toho Hiroshi was startled by him, the white light at his fingertip almost dissipating, and he nodded blankly: "It seems... so?"

"Crack."

A floor tile under Gojo Satoru's foot was crushed to powder by the Cursed Energy he unconsciously leaked.

Ieiri Shoko silently extinguished her cigarette butt, looking at Toho Hiroshi with an expression as if she were watching a monster who had suddenly blown up a laboratory and still looked innocent.

Geto Suguru took a deep breath, slowly exhaled, and finally let out a sigh of complex meaning, shaking his head with a bitter smile.

This Toho Hiroshi, the "surprises" he brought were truly more exaggerated each time.
