Chapter 1 - Cursed Fate

"Inherited Technique- Grade D!"

When this was announced, the entire clan showed no reaction. Though some people couldn't help but whisper.

"Hey, that guy is too miserable, isn't he? First, he lost his parents early on, and now his Inherited Technique is only D Grade. That's only one grade higher than the lowest."

"Shh! He might not have awakened a powerful technique, but he is still from the Main Branch. Don't talk about him!"

"Tsk! I will definitely awaken a better Inherited Technique than him. How can I not?"

At this moment, the young man standing beside an elderly man showed no reaction to this revelation.

Seeing this, the elder couldn't help but show disappointment.

"Tyler, you are a part of the main branch, but your talent is too low."

"I'm sorry, elder!"

The young man named Tyler immediately apologized.

The elder shook his head and waved his hand.

"It's okay. Inherent techniques are inherent for a reason. Nobody can predict what grade they will be."

"But considering your talent, you will not be a part of the Seed Plan. Do you accept?"

Although it was a question, it was also a statement for Tyler.

With his talent, he truly didn't deserve to be a part of Seed Plan. This plan was to boost the speed of the genius cultivators.

Since he wasn't a genius, he couldn't be a part of it.

"I accept!"

Tyler nodded his head, showing no resentment in his eyes.

Seeing this, the elder nodded his head with satisfaction. Although Tyler didn't awaken a highly potent technique, his attitude was still good.

Since he was a part of the Main Branch and his parents sacrificed themselves for the clan, they would give him something.

And that's exactly what Tyler was waiting for.

"Then, have you decided where you want to go?"

"Elder, I would like to accept Yellowstone Mine."

Tyler's choice was simple.

Every clan had a considerable number of mines that produced different resources for the clan.

These mines needed someone from the Main Family to manage. Thus, he had to choose a Mine that wasn't good but wasn't completely bad.

While his talent was low, his parents did sacrifice their lives for the clan.

So, when he made this request, the elder thought for a moment and took out a silver token from a ring on his index finger.

"Here is your Silver Badge! With this, you can register Yellowstone Mine under your name. You can leave now!"

"Next!"

After saying that, Tyler bowed to show his gratitude, holding the silver badge as he walked away.

"Hey, Tyler, it's such a pity that you didn't awaken a good talent. Why don't you come and work under me?"

A boy of Tyler's age spoke as he approached him from the side.

This boy was almost as tall as Tyler, had two bronze teeth on the front, and short hair.

Tyler gave him a look before walking away.

Seeing his attitude, the boy clenched his fist and thought.

'Damn it, Tyler! Even now, you think you are superior to me. I will show you the result of offending me.'

Unfortunately, Tyler didn't care about his resentment. He left the main compound and went straight to his house.

His house had three floors, was painted yellow, and was just next to the Grant Clan compound.

When he entered the house, a butler greeted him.

"Welcome back, Young Master! How was your awakening?"

Tyler bitterly smiled and said.

"Didn't I tell you before? I will awaken the lowest talent. Well, it was a little better. My Technique is Grade D."

Hearing that, the butler sighed before putting on a smile as he said.

"Young Master, you do not need to worry about anything. With my power, I will be able to protect you."

"Should we proceed with your plan and sell all of your properties in Lodestar City?"

At this moment, another person walked out of the room. She wore a long black frock that covered her lower body and a matching top.

Her face was smooth and pale, and her pupils were deep red. She bowed her head and said.

"Young Master, do not forget me! I will also protect you."

After saying that, she turned towards the butler and snorted. She regretted not being here in the first place.

Otherwise, she could've said that sentence first.

The butler didn't care about her attitude. Unlike her, he was saved by Tyler's parents and had been taking care of Tyler since his birth.

He was probably the closest person to Tyler.

Hearing her words, Tyler chuckled and said.

"Then, from now on, my life will be in your hands, Erena!"

"Yes, Young Master!"

The maid excitedly replied.

"Alfred, I need to meet the Third Elder and get permission for Yellowstone Mine. While I am gone, you can finish the issue of transferring our properties."

"Erena, once I start my cultivation, don't forget to prepare a lot of food."

Tyler answered.

"Then, Young Master, when will you leave to meet the Third Elder?"

Alfred asked, looking puzzled.

"Of course, I will leave right now!"

He said before he went to his room and returned with three gold coins.

Seeing those gold coins, Alfred's eyes widened as he asked.

"Young Master, those are tokens for the Star Plasma Pavilion. They were collected by your parents with great difficulty."

Hearing his words, Tyler bitterly smiled and said.

"Alfred, these only help us enter the Star Plasma Pavilion. With my talent, I can never earn enough money from the Yellowstone Mine to buy anything from there."

"It's better to give these tokens to Third Elder and receive complete control over the Yellowstone Mine."

His words were frustrating for both Alfred and Erena. They just stared at those coins unwillingly.

Although they knew their Young Master was right about this, they simply didn't want him to give up so easily.

Did Tyler want to do this?

Of course not! He was very unwilling to give these to others. He knew the value of the Star Plasma Pavilion. It was one of the biggest organizations in the world.

It also had a myriad of treasures that could fundamentally change a person's life.

Just like him, if he decided to use all of the money by selling his properties, he might be able to afford something that could speed up his normal cultivation.

But was it really that useful? It would be useful for one time, but what about the second? Even if his cultivation speed improved, how long will that last?

So, instead of this, he might as well give these coins to the Third Elder, receive full ownership of the mine, and use that money to support Erena's cultivation.

She wouldn't betray him, and her talent was far superior to his. She had awakened Grade A Inherited Technique.

This was more than enough for her to reach a very high level.

Even a single average Mine could produce enough resources to support an entire family.

Normally, he would need to send at least eighty percent of the mine's output back to the clan.

Then, he would need to use the remaining twenty percent to pay the workers in the main and finally keep the remaining ones.

But with full control over the Marine, he would only need to send fifty percent. Why did a clan have such a rule?

No, it wasn't a rule. The elders could afford the consequences of not sending back the remaining thirty percent.

But they needed something of equal value, and only these coins could provide such a value.

Alfred took a deep breath and walked in front of Tyler. He seriously stared at Tyler and said.

"Young Master, I must refrain you from giving away these coins. I know you have other plans, but this is not just a property."

He tapped on one of the coins and said.

"To obtain this, Master suffered from a poison that tortured him for five years."

Then, he pointed at another coin and continued.

"To obtain this, Mistress had to be separated from Young Master for three years."

Finally, he pointed at the last coin and said.

"For this, Master and Mistress almost perished, losing a large part of their cultivation in the process."

When Tyler heard that, his hand froze. His eyes widened in disbelief as he gripped those coins.

"Why didn't I know any of that?"

He barely squeezed out those words, suppressing his inner turmoil.

"Because they didn't want to worry you. Everything they have done, every risk they took was to make sure you can live a better life."

"Young Master, when Mistress was pregnant with you, they encountered a strange thing that almost took their lives."

"They were always afraid that you would be born with some defects. Fortunately, that didn't happen, but their worries became true."

"Your Cultivation Talent was affected by that accident. So, you must not give away these coins, Young Master."

"Even if you don't use them, they are something your parents risked their lives for."
