Chapter 7: Jiang Li: I Have a Plan! (1 / 1)
In the courtyard.
Jiang Li stood casually, his expression slightly lazy.
Around him, Wu Feng moved swiftly, twisting and turning as she searched for an opening to attack.
In the next moment, she seemed to find it and rushed toward him decisively.
But just as she was about to land a hit, a large hand pressed onto her shoulder.
"Too slow. You still need training."
Jiang Li yawned, speaking in a teasing tone.
Wu Feng looked frustrated.
"You really don't have soul power? Then why are you so fast?"
"I just have a special physique," Jiang Li waved it off and lay back onto the rattan chair again.
Wu Feng didn't press further—she was already used to that answer.
But after thinking for a moment, she asked curiously,
"What exactly is your special physique?"
"You want to know?"
Jiang Li glanced at her.
Wu Feng nodded eagerly, and even Ning Tian, who had been reading nearby, closed her book and looked over.
Noticing their curiosity, Jiang Li smiled faintly.
Then he pointed at the sky.
"I am actually cursed by the heavens."
Wu Feng immediately scoffed.
"If you're that strong, how could it be a curse? Just say you don't want to explain it."
"Heh," Jiang Li chuckled and said nothing more.
Unlike Wu Feng, Ning Tian thought more deeply.
She didn't think he was lying—such a physique might really exist.
She decided to check ancient texts later after returning to her sect.
At that moment, Jiang Li suddenly spoke again.
"Boss, I might need a few days off later."
Ning Tian immediately came back to attention.
"Jiang Li, what do you need leave for?"
"A friend asked me for a commission. I'll go earn some extra money," he replied casually.
Ning Tian thought for a moment, then asked,
"Is it dangerous?"
"Small job. Not dangerous," Jiang Li said confidently.
Ning Tian nodded.
"If it's small, then go quickly and come back."
"Boss is really kind," Jiang Li smiled and clapped lightly.
After that, he continued guiding Wu Feng for a while.
As evening fell, Ning Tian and Wu Feng returned to Shrek Academy.
—
Three days later.
At the east gate of Shrek City, Ling Luochen had already been waiting for a long time.
Jiang Li did not keep her waiting. Soon, he appeared in front of her.
Seeing him, Ling Luochen went straight to the point.
"Let's go. The mission site is at the border between the Star Luo Empire and the Heavenly Soul Empire."
"Alright, let's move," Jiang Li nodded.
They set off together.
A few days later.
On a cliff.
Jiang Li stood at the edge, holding a telescope as he observed the distance.
Ling Luochen stood beside him in silence.
After Jiang Li lowered the telescope, she asked,
"Did you find anything?"
"There's a bandit stronghold over there. Quite a lot of people—about fifty visible. There are also several two-man patrol teams outside keeping watch," Jiang Li reported.
Ling Luochen frowned slightly.
"This is more troublesome than expected. The evil soul masters must be deep inside the stronghold. We'll have to deal with the outer guards first."
She turned to Jiang Li.
"Do you have a plan?"
"A plan?" Jiang Li pretended to think.
After a moment, he smiled and asked,
"Boss, are you confident in your strength?"
Ling Luochen nodded.
"As long as it's not a Soul Emperor or multiple high-level Soul Kings, I can handle it."
Jiang Li nodded.
"Boss, I do have a good plan. But one of us might be in serious danger."
"Tell me," Ling Luochen said curiously.
Jiang Li didn't waste time.
"A classic diversion tactic. One of us draws away the outer guards, while the other clears out the evil soul masters inside."
Ling Luochen immediately frowned.
"No. That's too dangerous."
She analyzed it seriously.
"There are only two of us. Splitting up increases risk on both sides.
And we don't know how many evil soul masters are inside. Charging in blindly is like walking into a trap."
Jiang Li nodded in agreement.
Ling Luochen continued,
"We should act together for safety."
"Boss is right," Jiang Li said seriously.
Ling Luochen finally relaxed.
But before she could feel relieved for long—
Jiang Li spoke again.
"Then let's change the plan."
"You still have another idea?" Ling Luochen felt uneasy.
Jiang Li smiled.
"Let's wait until night and pick them off one by one."
"Sniping at night? You mean assassination?" she asked.
"More or less."
"And how will you do that without soul power or soul tools?" she asked again.
Jiang Li grinned.
"I have something more convenient than soul tools."
"What is it?" Ling Luochen became interested.
"Secret. You'll see later."
Ling Luochen was slightly annoyed but didn't press further.
After thinking, she said,
"But how do you guarantee we get all of them? Most of them will be asleep at night."
"That's why we still need someone to lure them out," Jiang Li said, looking at her.
Ling Luochen felt a chill.
"…So I'm the bait?"
Jiang Li smiled.
"Don't worry, boss. With me here, you won't get hurt."
Ling Luochen sighed helplessly.
"You really treat your employer like this?"
"This is my recognition of your strength," Jiang Li said seriously.
Ling Luochen said nothing more.
