"…I'm dying."
It was a simple realization.
One dreaded by any human. Or at least, any human with something to lose.
Not that I believed there could truly exist someone with nothing left to live for.
I still remember vividly how it happened.
A report had been sent to me by my astronomy professor regarding an upcoming astral phenomenon:
Vergo Nerde.
A rare stellar sighting located hundreds of miles beyond Earth's orbit, and supposedly one of the rarest observations in human history.
Being the fanatic astronomy student that I was, I grabbed my telescope and made my way to the top of the university's tallest tower, one that had recently been abandoned for reasons unknown.
After fifteen minutes of waiting, I finally saw it.
But things took a dangerous turn when the star, which should have vaporized within twenty-two seconds of entering Earth's atmosphere, suddenly changed direction midair and shot directly toward me.
I barely managed five steps when the star crashed into it with terrifying force, sending me plummeting from a height of three hundred meters.
Such a fall should have killed any human.
Yet strangely… I felt no pain at all.
Nor did I feel fear at my approaching death.
All I felt was awe toward that blue star.
Even as the world slowly darkened around me, the sound of rushing footsteps fading into the distance.
______________
Darkness.
It stretched on for a time, longer than my mind could comprehend, but ultimately, something else...
A piercing ray of light that forced my shut eyes snapping right open.
I looked around me in fear of the unknown but what I saw was beyond anything.
It was a space, that contained every colour I have ever seen, and dispersing into the farthest distance of it was an object that was at first impossible to grasp.
One word came to mind:
An Octopus.
They looked like tentacles and all the light from this world seemed to come from the tiny pores covering them.
But all of this made no sense.
There shouldn't be a tentacle this big and long, unless somehow those fictional Eldritch Creatures with extra long tentacles were now a thing.
I found it ridiculous, yet my curiousity trailed the better of me as I tried to find the end of the tentacle in the space.
My eyes led me to slowly turning my back and there was something that sent both horror and fear straight through me as if I had stepped on a pin.
It was a singular eye that was beyond ginormous, focused unmistakably at me.
It didn't blink, simply stared, coldly accessing before all at once, something...
A vortex of sort suddenly appeared in the center of its ginormous eyes and in the next moment, something came out that drew my attention.
'Is that...'
My thought had yet to be completed when all of a sudden, the world around me was suddenly enveloped in cracks as if it was all nothing but a glassy illusion and once more, the world darkening.
_______________
"Err Vernerie! Awakening Type: Summoner!"
"Awakening Grade: F-Class!"
"Summon Awakened : Ordinary Egg!"
"...someone get his unconscious ass of the podium."
The visibly annoyed words of the announcer echoed out as Err felt his eyes opening slowly registering the light but all of sudden, he felt a hand gripping his neck and then.
VROOOOOOOM!
Bang!
The air flapped and hies eyes widened in time to see the ground coming closer and closer and he slammed Into it... Nose first.
"Talk of good riddance. With the bad luck out the way, let the awakening ceremony continue."
____
"Ow!"
Err winced in pain forcing her s face out from the ground.
His hands tried to grab at his bleeding nose but he stopped halfway feeling the sharp pain before his hands could even touch it.
The murmurs were echoing behind him and all at once he froze up, as he remembered.
"Wait, Didn't I..."
He didn't complete the words when the memories all came rushing in all of sudden.
It see t a stinging headache forcing him to grip his head tight from the pain but it was a fleeting sensation that stopped just moments later.
'I... reincarnated!?'
The memory that had came to him was the memory of the body he had taken over.
An orphan boy named Err Vernerie from the renowned Vernerie Clan, a prestigious clan known for their Unqiue and High ranking Summoners.
Err true to his name had awakened as a Summoner, but seeing himself being an F-grade Awakener whxuh was the lowest of the low and awakening only AN ordinary egg, he had collapsex and died right then and there giving him a chance for him to occupy his body.
"Tsk, poor guy, but still, I'm alive!"
Err shouted clenching he's so fist from excitement.
"Tsk, you're alive for now."
A mocking scoff echoed behind him as Err turned his head to the side watching a pal of scrawny looking boys walk past him lead by a lanky scrawny young man.
"Once the Clan tests begin, you and your dumb egg will be the first thing that gets eating by Nightmarish creatures."
"Might as well crack open your egg and eat it yourself, now. .. HAHAHAHA"
They continued into the distance laughing but Err didn't let it get to him.
Instead, he rose up from the ground dusting his clothes but he had been thrown into the mud.
"First, I return home and watch off."
He mused, getting his first plan in before he took on a random direction.
