Chapter 10 - Before Tomorrow

Rachel's brows furrowed ever so slightly after hearing the word Queen.

The conversation had moved on, yet that single word lingered in the corners of her mind like an unfinished riddle.

She wasn't wondering whether Addie had called.

No!

What puzzled her was something else entirely.

What exactly had Addie meant by it?

The way he had said it carried a strange certainty, as if the word held a meaning known only to him ,a meaning hidden beneath the surface.

For a fleeting moment, she considered asking him.

But before she could,

Addie interrupted the silence.

"You should get some sleep now,"

he said, glancing toward the darkened window.

"It's already late, and you're probably tired. We can continue talking tomorrow morning."

Rachel looked outside.

The night had indeed grown old.

A weary smile appeared on her face.

"Yep. I think I should sleep."

Addie nodded.

"You can sleep in that room."

He pointed toward the room where she was lied down before.

"I'll sleep here on the sofa. It's comfortable enough and big enough for me."

There was no hesitation in his voice, only calm assurance.

Rachel thanked him quietly before heading toward the room. As she walked away, the mystery of that word still followed her.

Not a title.

At least, that's not how Addie had intended it.

To him, a queen was something else entirely.

A symbol.

A person whose arrival changes the direction of fate.Someone who brings fortune, growth, and unexpected light into life or maybe the destruction a what normal human can't even think of.

But the thought had crossed his mind more than once.

Rachel disappeared behind the door, and soon the room fell silent.

The night outside deepened.

Moonlight slipped through the curtains, painting silver patterns across the floor.

Within minutes, exhaustion pulled Rachel into sleep.Meanwhile, Addie remained alone in the living room.He settled onto the sofa and stared at the ceiling.Sleep refused to come.

His thoughts wandered through strange paths, revisiting conversations, memories, and possibilities.

The house was silent.

The clock ticked steadily.

Outside, the wind whispered through the darkness.

And somewhere within the maze of his thoughts lingered the idea of a queen , not a ruler, not a crown-bearing figure, but a rare presence capable of bringing fortune into a person's life when they least expect it.

Eventually, the night grew darker still.

The house slept.

Rachel slept.

But Addie remained awake a little longer, accompanied only by the shadows, the silence, and thoughts he wasn't yet ready to put into words.

Meanwhile, Addie lay on the sofa, staring into the fire.

His thoughts wandered through strange paths

Fortune, Queen, and Destruction.

Three words.

Three mysteries.

A blessing.

A presence.

An ending.

He didn't know why they felt connected, only that they did.

Outside, the wind whispered against the windows as shadows danced silently across the room.

A faint smile crossed his face.

Or perhaps it was concern.

Even he wasn't sure. With those thoughts lingering in the depths of his mind, his eyes slowly closed.

And soon, he too fell asleep, unaware that some thoughts are not born without a reason.
