Chapter 8 - Kill… Before It Kills You

Noah suddenly halted mid-step, his senses flaring sharply as he detected a massive presence approaching from ahead. Each of its steps caused the ground beneath him to tremble faintly, even from nearly twenty meters away, carrying a heavy, oppressive weight that pressed against his chest.

He narrowed his eyes slightly, focusing on the aura radiating from the approaching creature. It was overwhelming—far denser and more violent than his own. Yet instead of fear, a strange thrill coursed through him, spreading warmth through his veins like fire.

He didn't move.

He stood still, letting it come closer, allowing the predator to step into his range rather than wasting energy chasing it. His mind had already begun forming strategies, cold and efficient, calculating the fastest possible way to bring it down.

'It's about ten meters in size… and every step carries immense weight. Its physical strength alone is monstrous,' Noah analyzed silently, his gaze unwavering as the presence drew nearer. 'And if it carries this much aura… its intelligence might not be low either.'

Seconds passed slowly, stretching under the pressure of the incoming threat. Then, finally, the tiger-shaped monster emerged into view, its towering figure casting a shadow over Noah. He lifted his head slightly, realizing just how high its massive form stood above him.

His body shifted subtly into a combat stance.

'I need to end this quickly… or this will turn into another drawn-out fight like the Orc leader,' he thought, tightening his focus, every muscle in his body prepared for an explosive response.

But then—

The monster stopped.

Its massive eyes locked onto him, studying him carefully before it suddenly spoke in a deep, resonant voice, "You...You are quite strong Human."

For the first time, Noah froze.

His eyebrow lifted slightly, a rare crack in his composure as his thoughts flickered in confusion. 'What?... It can talk? And in human language?'

The tiger-shaped creature observed his reaction and spoke again, its tone calm yet heavy, "…Are you shocked because I can speak? Or is it because I can speak Human language?"

A drop of sweat traced down Noah's chin, though his face remained expressionless. "…Both," he replied simply, his voice steady despite the unexpected situation.

"…Oh? That's quite an amusing answer," the monster said, its tone shifting slightly as if entertained. Then its gaze sharpened, turning cold and merciless as killing intent began leaking from its body. "…Anyways, I have a clear message for you…"

It paused briefly, letting the tension settle before continuing, its voice heavier than before.

"…Do not go any further than this. Change your route, and I won't stand in your way."

Noah didn't react to the killing intent pressing against him. Instead, his mind moved rapidly, analyzing the situation from every possible angle. 'Why is it warning me? I've been heading in this direction for hours… If I turn back now, I might never leave this forest.'

So he asked calmly, "Why? Why can't I go further?"

The monster frowned slightly, its expression carrying a hint of confusion before it responded, "Hmm… looks like you don't know what lies ahead, heh? That's better. Just change your direction… and I won't have to kill you."

That answer irritated him.

Not because of the threat—but because of the lack of clarity.

Noah exhaled slowly, and then his entire demeanor shifted. His aura surged outward, unrestrained, as his killing intent flooded the surroundings, sharp and suffocating.

"Now you listen to me carefully, you overgrown monster," he said coldly. "Get out of my way… so I don't have to kill you."

The tiger's eyes widened instantly.

The sheer density of Noah's killing intent shook it more than it expected. 'Wh-What?... A mere human is releasing this much killing intent?' it thought, instinctively adjusting its stance as tension filled its massive frame.

Even so, it didn't retreat.

"You won't listen, huh?" it said, lowering its body slightly into a combat stance. "Then I guess I really have to kill you."

Noah ignored its words entirely.

His mind had already moved ahead.

'I can't use basic swordsmanship… I don't have a weapon. And I'm not skilled enough to rely on that "Intent Sword"…' His thoughts sharpened. 'Then there's only one option left… my ability.'

A faint memory surfaced—of slicing through the Orcs with nothing but a single motion of his finger. He didn't fully understand it, but his instincts did.

And he trusted them.

He focused all his aura into his right hand.

The process was immediate—and exhausting.

His face paled as the energy drained rapidly from his body. 'This… this ability consumes too much…' he thought, his breathing growing heavier as his entire aura gathered into his palm.

Then he compressed it.

Further.

Sharper.

Until it formed a thin, concentrated layer of deadly energy coating his hand like a blade.

The moment it stabilized, the monster's instincts screamed in warning. Its pupils shrank as it sensed the danger contained within that thin layer of aura.

Noah moved.

In one smooth motion, he drew his arm to the side and swung it horizontally, like a swordsman executing a clean, precise slash.

The attack was released instantly.

A curved wave of compressed aura shot forward, tearing through the air with terrifying force.

The monster reacted immediately, releasing half of its aura to form a dome-shaped shield around its body.

Then—

Impact.

"CRASHHHHHH—BOOOOOOOM!!"

The collision exploded with violent intensity, shockwaves ripping through the forest as energy scattered wildly in every direction. The ground cracked beneath the force, and the air itself trembled under the clash.

Noah groaned, his body trembling under the strain. "Ughhhh…"

But the monster was suffering more.

"Khughhh… UGH… damn Human!" it roared, struggling to maintain its shield as the attack pressed against it relentlessly.

For a brief moment, everything froze.

Then the shield shattered.

The aura slash tore through it and slammed directly into the monster's body.

"GAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!"

A deep, horrific wound split open across its stomach, blood pouring out violently as the creature staggered. Yet, even then, its flesh began regenerating almost instantly.

But not fast enough.

'Damn it… this will take time…' the monster thought, panic flickering in its mind.

Noah sensed it.

His body felt unbearably heavy, exhaustion threatening to drag him down. Yet he forced himself forward, his will refusing to let him collapse.

'Tch… it's still alive after that? Then I'll kill it while it's vulnerable.'

The monster saw him approaching—and fear finally took hold.

'That human… he's really going to kill me…?! I underestimated him!'

"Looks like I underestimated you, Human…" it said weakly. "Not anymore… I'll kill you with my last resort."

Noah didn't respond.

He simply moved faster.

The monster gathered its remaining aura into its mouth, forming a dense sphere of energy that rapidly compressed into a concentrated point.

Noah understood instantly.

So he rushed forward.

Closing the distance in seconds.

At the exact moment the sphere stabilized—

He stepped in.

And punched.

His fist slammed directly into the monster's wound with everything he had left.

At the same time, the monster released its attack.

The beam struck Noah's chest head-on.

The impact was catastrophic.

The monster's massive body was launched backward like a ragdoll, crashing violently through the forest.

And Noah—

Was sent flying.

His body slammed into a tree with brutal force.

"AGHHHH… Khukkk—!"

Blood burst from his mouth as pain flooded his entire body, threatening to drag him into darkness.

But this time—

He refused to lose consciousness.

Far ahead, the monster let out one final, broken scream.

"KRRUUKKK—GAHHHHHHHH!!"

Its body twitched once… then fell still.

Dead.

Silence fell over the battlefield.

Only the sound of Noah's uneven breathing remained.

He lay there, barely conscious, his vision blurred as the weight of exhaustion crushed him completely.

And then—

The system flared again.

Not softly.

Not gently.

But with a presence far heavier than before… as if something had acknowledged him.
