Chapter 8 - Followers and Gifts (2)

Jaeyi blinked his eyes. He narrowed his eyes before returning them to normal. Huh? Was his eyesight getting better? Why did he think that he could see the comments much better?

While he did not need to wear prescription glasses yet, Jaeyi had long noticed that his eyesight was getting blurry if he stared at the screen for too long and had to squint to read it better.

But now, suddenly, he could see much better. Jaeyi looked at the side and felt the same. Was there a difference or not? He could not tell for sure.

Jaeyi was unable to dwell on that for now as he continued on his stream. He answered some comments, while with other comments, he played along with his character.

"Do you have talent? Huh?" Jaeyi paused. Was he alright for the Demon Lord to sing to his audience?

Of course, he was not just talking about the authenticity of his character. But in a sense, he was here as a real Demon Lord, gathering followers.

If he were just an ordinary Vtuber, then he might, but he was here for some purpose, however fantastical that might be.

Of course, talent was not just about dancing or singing either.

He then thought of a response, his chin propped on his hand as his lips hooked up amusingly. His demon avatar enhanced that; his crimson eyes flickered at the light.

"Are you asking me whether I can entertain you...? Heh. How bold of you. To expect a Demon Lord to perform for your amusement, how interesting."

Jaeyi was getting better at this. He then leaned slightly forward, chin resting over his clasped hand. His smile widened, the demon lord avatar's eyes shimmered like a ruby.

"Hmm... I suppose I can spare a moment to indulge you. Go on, entertain me with your suggestions. But I should make one thing clear. Do not expect trivial human amusements like singing or dancing. Such things are beneath me."

Jaeyi glanced at the comments beginning to flood again.

genubaby: can you stay in this position longer, my lord?

kickbanurguts: you have so many excuses, bet you can't sing or dance

realitychuni: STOP BEING SO CHUNIIII

genubaby: can we kick these bastards here? I VOLUNTEER AS YOUR MOD, my lord! ACCEPT ME!!!!

lckmyas: @realitychuni weirdo look at your name?

haremseeker: play a game to understand us humans, my lord

damian4anya: LMAOOOO haremseeker being influenced by the simp

haremseeker: I'm not?

He read the chats, most of them mocking him, simping, and also some just there to suggest nonsense. His brows shot up slightly when he looked at haremseeker's name. Why suddenly did he have a symbol above his username?

"Haremseeker..." he called this weird username again. His hands went to the mouse and browsed and looked to see if the other usernames had the same symbol.

Jaeyi only thought it was intriguing as it looked conspicuous among the other usernames, prompting him to quickly pick up on it. Since the others did not have it.

Was this some kind of platform benefit to users? Like badges perhaps?

Haremseeker's comments popped up again; this time, he noticed that it also looked bigger than the others.

haremseeker: yes, my lord?

damian4anya: @haremseeker change your name to demonlordsimp

"Mm, understanding humans doesn't sound particularly interesting. However, since my first human follower has suggested it... Very well. We'll try this little game."

Jaeyi was adapting so well to this bullshitting; he also realised that he could now easily filter the nasty and nonsensical comments from the rest of the comments and could focus on those usernames he had already seen, like genubaby.

This was not noticeable at first, but as the comments flooded, considering there were now 400 people in the stream, Jaeyi finally realized this.

When he glanced at Virel at his side, he saw the cat sleeping soundly. Perhaps, when he ended his stream and talk with it, he could confirm if this was the effect of abyssal power becoming replenished.

Just thinking about that noticeable effect was enough for him to be enthusiastic about this stream.

They began with the little game. In fact, it was only about them asking him about what he thought of humans, and vice versa. Somehow, the comments flooded as they became engaged with this segment.

While most knew they were just listening to bullshit, a lot were playing along. Although the nasty comments and nonsense ones who were only there just to simp on his avatar still took the other half.

It hardly bothered him, since he knew it was the case. However, one particular commenter had been nasty the whole stream. In fact, he was mostly only borderline disrespectful, so he still ignored it, but one particular comment of his got his attention.

realitychuni: This is so cringe. Just another edgy Vtuber acting mysterious.

This Jaeyi was not even offended, because he admitted that he was. So what? There were a few similar ones and some emojis here and there.

Some avatar simps were calling him out, but the account enjoyed arguing with them, too. Obviously, he was here to troll. And he was disturbing the stream.

It was not a nasty comment, but it triggered a challenge inside Jaeyi. He could not even understand this feeling. It was as though something inside him had been awakened, or perhaps he was just being influenced by his character.

realitychunni: If you're really a demon lord, then make me leave. Go on, demon shit.

He focused on that commenter and called out the name.

"...Realitychuni." His voice was unusually deep; Jaeyi did not even notice it, but those viewers sensed the shift. The avatar demon lord's crimson eyes seemed darker.

Virel's ears twitched, and slowly, the cat woke up, its eyes widening. Huh? Its eyes abruptly look at Jaeyi and are startled.

Huh? What was happening?

"I've allowed your presence long enough. Leave."

The moment that Jaeyi said that command, realitychuni's comment seemed to flicker, but no one noticed it. Yet, Virel saw it: the abyssal power around Jaeyi seeped into it, and he could feel that Jaeyi could subtly influence reality!

Its eyes flashed in excitement! This was working so much! What the... even it was so astonished by this sudden turn of events!

Jaeyi and the viewers actually did not think it would work; after all, trolls could not just leave like that, even if the streamer called them out in the stream.

Most of them deliberately did it to be mentioned out loud, like perverts.

The comments, especially the avatar simpers, began scolding realitychuni but soon they moved on. And Jaeyi, too. However, some noticed realitychuni seemed to... really leave?

Wow. What a coincidence. None of them thought it was a big deal.

In reality, realitychuni, chuckled at annoying a new Vtuber too. He was not jobless, but he did amuse himself trolling at night after his stressful job.

It just so happened that this night, a stream just popped up on his screen, and so he clicked on it out of curiosity and targeted Jaeyi's stream.

His hands went to his keyboard and began typing, but suddenly everything blacked out.

"Fuck? A power blackout?" Realitychuni cursed out loud and slammed his hand at the keyboard.

Just as things were getting entertaining too! Now, that streamer would probably get cocky when he did not reply. Realitychuni clenched his teeth.

What shit luck. He stood up, looked for the flashlight and asked the other homes. Then, he found out he was the only home with power lines cut off.

"What? Why am I the only one?"

The landlord looked confused, too.

"Don't worry, we already called for someone to repair the lines, but they might check it tomorrow."

Realitychuni could not possibly crash out to his landlord over this and nodded frustratingly.

Damn it. When he looked at his phone, there was no signal.

What the hell?

That demon lord's words were a curse. Seriously.

He did not think too much about it either and continued cursing Jaeyi. When he entered his house, he could not see much, and his pinky toe stubbed on the corner of the door. Realitychuni hurled a scream as he bent over to touch his foot, but the door was in the way, and so his head slammed hard on it.

Realitychuni held his head from the pain.

He almost cried. What the hell was this misfortune?
