THE ROLE BREAKER

Chapter 1: The Bet of Science and Soul

The Ambition

In the sweltering heat of a Delhi afternoon, Diya was completely lost in her own world. Her room resembled a junkyard more than a bedroom—wires, electronic components, and physics textbooks were strewn everywhere. She was the kind of girl who placed her faith solely in science and technology; to her, ghosts and magic were nothing more than archaic superstitions.

Exhausted, she walked up to her mother. "Mom! I've worked really hard today. I'm starting a new experiment tomorrow, so please let me sleep in. Don't let anyone disturb me."

Her mother gave a supportive smile and nodded. As Diya drifted off to sleep, only one thought occupied her mind: Who are these fools who believe in ghosts? There's no logical basis for it. Just then, a notification popped up on her phone. Her friends were planning a trip to a notorious haunted location. Diya didn't hesitate to type back: "I'm not going. I have a rocket project to finish."

The next day, Diya poured her heart and soul into her rocket. She launched it, dreaming of seeing it pierce the atmosphere, but fate had other plans. The rocket ascended a short distance before disappearing in a violent, mid-air explosion. Watching her dreams turn into debris, Diya felt utterly crushed.

The College Clash & The Secret Message

The scene shifts to college. Diya was known as the "nerdy loner"—quiet, introverted, and always tucked away in a corner. While she sat in the library, Ketero, a student from another class, walked in. He was in a foul mood following a recent breakup and was looking for a place to vent.

When Diya tried to strike up a conversation, Ketero snapped, unleashing his pent-up frustration on her. Amidst his outburst, Diya noticed a "Book of Mantras" in his hand. She couldn't help herself—she burst out laughing.

Infuriated, Ketero glared at her. "You think this is a joke? You can't mock things just because you don't understand them. Spirits and magic are real!"

Diya smirked. "It's the 21st century. Who actually believes in this stuff?"

"And what about you?" Ketero countered. "You failed your science project, didn't you? Does that mean science doesn't exist? You believe in aliens even though no one has seen them. Why is that different?"

"Aliens are a mathematical probability!" Diya argued, her own temper rising.

"And my world is a spiritual reality!" Ketero shot back.

In the middle of their heated argument, Diya dropped her phone. The screen lit up, revealing the message from her friends about the haunted house. Ketero saw it and a smirk played on his lips.

"Let's settle this with a bet," Ketero challenged. "We go to that haunted house. If we don't see any spirits, I'll admit you're right. But if we do..."

Diya crossed her arms. "Fine. And I've heard rumors that alien signals were once tracked there. If we see aliens, you admit science is supreme. If it's ghosts, I'll give in."

The bet was on.

The Haunted Night & Metal Men

That night, an eerie chill hung in the air as they approached the abandoned house. Despite their bravado, both felt a prickle of fear. The moment they stepped inside, the atmosphere shifted. This wasn't just an old building; it was the lair of the Organ Man—a malevolent spirit known for harvesting the organs of the living.

Suddenly, the entity lunged. Before she could scream, the spirit began to merge with Diya's body. At that exact moment, the room was bathed in a clinical, metallic light.

Strange extraterrestrial beings—known as Metal Men—materialized from thin air.

"We require biological samples," the Metal Men droned in a synthesized tone. "Human experimentation is necessary for our progress."

Ketero screamed in horror, "Who invited these guys?!"

As they scrambled to escape, a memory flashed in Diya's mind. "I remember now! This place was a secret space station in 1987. They used it to send signals to deep space. My theory was right... they actually came!"

"You're an idiot!" Ketero yelled as they ran for their lives. "These things want to kill us, and you're celebrating a successful hypothesis?!"

The Battle and The Aftermath

In the face of death, something dormant within Ketero snapped wide awake. His Psychic Power ignited. Recalling the ancient chants his grandmother had taught him, he began to see the spirits clearly. He channeled his spiritual energy into raw power, blasting the entities with shimmering bursts of force.

A chaotic battle erupted—a clash of ancient mantras against alien technology and vengeful souls. With a final, desperate surge of energy, Ketero managed to repel the attackers, and the two of them tumbled out of the house into the cool night air.

They were bruised, battered, and their clothes were torn to shreds. Diya stood up, trembling with a mix of shock and anger, and promptly slapped Ketero across the face.

Ketero didn't say a word. He looked at her, saw her state, and silently took off his coat, draping it over her shoulders to cover her.
