Though the idea of mermaids living among us is widely believed, one boy never thought he would personally witness something that would challenge his disbelief.
In the city of New York a boy who goes in the name of Max was a very creative and intelligent soul. He attended one of New York greatest schools but doesn't really know his future ambitions. One faithful day, him and his brother Daniel where just coming back from their after school jobs, then suddenly they were ambushed by some men who came out from nowhere, luckily Max and Daniel were very quick and got away swiftly but the men were still chasing them. They didn't want to go home because it will expose where they lived so they ran for the beach hoping they could lose them there.
They got there late at night but the men where far away from them. They finally got time to rest and when they knew the coast was clear they started heading home. Before they left the beach Daniel spotted a shooting star and it caught Max's attention. He didn't really care though but he decided to take a look. The star surprisingly changed course, heading to them quickly. Before they could run away, the star glowed releasing two strange objects. The wristwatches attached to their wrists but couldn't come off. Max panicked and tried to get the watch out of his wrist but he stopped to recognize the strange word on it spelling out "ROY''. Suddenly Max's watch began to talk, he was so frighten to the point that he was about to break it on a rock. On the other hand, Daniel was frighten and happy at the same time to have a new watch that just happen to fall from space.
Max started to calm down as he tried to hear what the watch had to say. The watch introduce itself by saying "I am ROY, a Resonant Osmotic Yttrium-Converter". Max asked the watch why it attached to them. The watch replied saying that they have to understand that Max and Daniel are now Mermaidians. They both laughed because they knew that Mermaidians aren't real but the watch told them that if they want to transform that they have to listen. So Max told it angrily that if they don't transform he will break both watches to the ground. The watch then further said that there is a sentence they both have to recite in order to transform to a Mermaidian and back to a human.
So they went to the seaside and said the phrase, "ROY, To Merman, From Boy". Immediately as they said it, they jumped into the sea and magically a tail was formed and they both got the ability to breath under water. Max was so surprised and took back every bad thing he said about the watch. They enjoyed swimming under water and seeing the amazing sea life nature has to offer like urchins, turtles, mini coral sponges and much more. The watch congratulated them because it was only 20% of humans that could transform first try. It also explained that Mermaidians have special abilities and Max had the gift of speed and invisibility while Daniel had the power to bring plants and animals to life so with the power to control them and also the power to blast fireballs out of the palms but since he is under water, the balls where hot supernatural entities that could destroy or even kill and animal.
The powers where only active when they were mermen but they were okay with it. The next day, after school they were very excited because their exams where coming soon and they decided to get their own apartment at their age because of their new abilities. They didn't tell anybody including their parents because New York was a place for Mermaidian disbelief. A month later they finished their exams, got an apartment and got real jobs to get money. The watch told them about the Mermaidian kingdom and pointed out the directions. When they got to the kingdom realm, what they saw was a mini city and a massive kingdom at the end of the town. The guards guarding the gate of the kingdom where huge but because they were mermen, they kindly allowed Max and Daniel to see the king. The king asked them whether they were from another kingdom but they lied and said they were looking for greener pastures and asked for the king's permission to build or have a house in the kingdom. He agreed and gave them a mini mansion far away from the kingdom. They had to pay him but Max was okay with it. They settled down in their new under water house but had to go back to the surface.
