The sword glowed with a blue light, and her silver blue eyes appeared icy cold. Something bad was clearly happening.
As Genise blocked the office door, standing with her back to the desk, Kaleb stood behind her.
I rose from my seat, looking at her tense back, and asked, "What's going on?"
"It seems some of them were left inside the palace. Please step away from the window, Your Majesty," Genise said, turning to look at me, and then gestured toward a corner.
I hid behind the cabinet as she instructed.
The Eastern Imperial Army was supposed to have driven out Pargos and the rebels, but it seemed like some remnants of them were still lurking around.
Their goal might just be this: to kill me. But it was strange. Pargos was already in retreat, and even if the remnants somehow managed to kill me, the chances of Pargos ascending to the throne were virtually nonexistent.
