I opened the window and let the bird in. The little creature settled on the table and looked up at me with its tiny red eyes.
"You came here just to say that in the middle of the night?" I asked.
"A gift?"
A moonbird’s wedding gift was something so unexpected that I was in awe at how thoughtful this bird was. Just then, the moonbird started squirming.
"Blaargh."
It spat out a red gemstone onto the table and puffed up his chest proudly.
"The thing you just threw up?"
When I asked back with a disgusted face, the moonbird was struck dumb and kept quacking.
<... What kind of person are you, for god's sake?>
A bird giving me a puked item as a wedding gift was now questioning my identity. I stared at the gemstone piece on the table and nodded. After all, a gift was a gift.
"Anyway, thank you. Does dropping blood here make you appear?"
