Chapter 5 - The Door That Should Never Opened

The night was colder than usual. Silence wrapped the mansion like a curse, and even the wind outside seemed afraid to move.

Aarav stood alone in the hallway, holding the old silver key he had found hidden inside his father's study table. The same key that had a strange symbol carved on it. The same symbol he had seen in his nightmares for years.

His hands trembled.

At the end of the hallway was a locked wooden door. A door no one in the family had ever talked about. A door that was always there... yet somehow invisible.

He stepped closer.

Each footstep echoed like a warning.

When the key touched the lock, the lights of the mansion flickered violently. Somewhere upstairs, a woman screamed.

Aarav froze.

Then silence again.

He slowly turned the key.

Click.

The door opened on its own.

A rotten smell escaped from inside. Dust. Darkness. Secrets.

He switched on his phone flashlight and entered.

The room was filled with old photographs hanging on the walls. But every face in those photos had been scratched out... except one.

His mother.

Aarav's breath stopped.

In every photo, she was standing beside a man Aarav had never seen before. A man wearing a black coat... his face burned away with fire.

Suddenly, a whisper came from behind him.

"You were never supposed to find this room."

Aarav turned sharply.

Standing at the door was Meera.

Her eyes were cold. Different. Dangerous.

"You?" Aarav said. "What is all this?"

Meera stepped forward slowly.

"The truth your family buried alive."

She picked up one photograph and handed it to him. On the back, written in blood-red ink, were four words:

He is not yours.

Aarav's body went numb.

"What does this mean?"

Before Meera could answer, footsteps thundered outside the room. Someone was coming fast.

Meera grabbed Aarav's hand tightly.

"If you want to live... run."

The hallway lights went out.

And in the darkness, a deep voice echoed through the mansion—

"You opened the door."

To be continued...
