Chapter 16 - The game she started

Aarohi left for shopping.

Then,The call came when Veer wasn't expecting it.

Unknown number.

He almost ignored it.

Almost.

Something told him not to.

"Hello."

Silence.

Then—

"You should really keep a closer eye on what's yours."

His expression changed instantly.

"Naina."

A soft laugh echoed through the line. "Good. You still recognize my voice."

"Where is she?"

Straight to the point.

No games.

But Naina didn't answer.

Not yet.

"Do you know what I always hated about you?" she said calmly. "You never lost control. Not once."

Veer's grip tightened around the phone. "This isn't a game."

"No," she replied softly. "This is exactly that."

A pause.

Then—

"She's with me."

The words landed cold.

Dangerous.

Veer didn't react outwardly.

But something inside him shifted.

"Touch her," he said quietly, "and this ends badly for you."

Naina laughed again—but this time, there was something unstable beneath it.

"You still think this is about hurting her?"

A pause.

"It's about hurting you."

---

Across the city, Aarohi sat tied to a chair—not struggling, not panicking.

Watching.

Listening.

Learning.

Because this time—

She wasn't the same girl anymore.

---

"You took something from me," Naina continued.

"And now I'm taking something from you."

Veer's voice dropped. "You already left."

"Exactly," she said. "And you didn't come after me."

Silence.

Then—

"But for her?" Naina added. "You will."

That was the truth.

And they both knew it.

---

"Here's how this works," she continued.

"You don't bring your men."

"You don't bring your power."

"You come alone."

A pause.

"Or you lose her."

---

The line went dead.

---

For the first time in a long time—

Veer didn't look calm.

He looked dangerous.

Because this wasn't about control anymore.

This was personal.
