I don't remember answering eye defect being a hereditary issue in high school, but now I'm pretty sure it is, siting my family as an example.
All five of us wear glasses, although my sister wears it much less, and was probably the first to realize we all looked like a group of nerds in our family photos, which is partly why she removes hers. The rest of us simply didn't care about it, at least till it hit me.
My brother wore glasses much later than I did, but he's probably the most dependent on them beside my parents. Maybe it seems that way because he's not pretending to not have a defect unlike my sister and I.
But also, his lens is simply just tick as hell. But to be fair, I haven't gone for a retest in about five years. my sister and I are scared to go for a retest, so ours don't get any ticker and worse, because it seems we're the most conscious about the use of our glasses... But we're okay with it being a mystery.
A while ago, I also realized the people who could not tell Superman from Clark were right, since I was definitely among those whose face would totally change into someone else each time they removed their glasses and laid their naked eyes out.
The reactions from those around me back in school were always mixed, but the ones that amused me the most were the people who genuinely reacted like it was a bone I had pulled off my body, probably because I had worn them so often that they felt like an extension of me.
I would not even remember I had them on, since I would have my bath wearing them, sleep with them, and play sports with them.
There would be a noticeable difference in my sight and in the reactions I received when I removed them, which was a little irritating to me, so I would put them back on. It also didn't help my frame covered my entire face, it felt like a ski mask, so maybe... I brought that on myself.
Let us say five years ago, I wore them for about ninety percent of my active life, but now? probably under ten percent, a ridiculous difference from a glass addict such as myself.
It started when they broke, I simply had no choice, and my laziness was at its peak in a new environment, both situations I am grateful for now, because I decided not to do anything about it, using my free will once again, and before I realized it, I felt no need to use them anymore.
My sight is not exactly perfect, but now I know I am no blind man, since I can live very comfortably and actively without them.
Think about it this way, if the world is in 4k, seeing it in 360p is not bad at all, especially since I have never really shown concern for the extra detail I cannot see without them.
It is like that argument people have about some fps being unnecessary after a certain point, since the human brain cannot find much difference anymore.
But a new discovery that pushed my 360p vision up to a cheeky 480p was the use of regular lenses rather than medicated ones, I cannot tell if it is an illusion or if they genuinely improve my sight, but it works, lately I find myself using them like they are medicated.
🙎🏽♂️: Hold on, let me get my non medicated glasses to read it.
I do not fully understand how it works, but I do have a theory, lately people point out that when I am lying down, one of my eyes is focused elsewhere.
Maybe it has always been difficult for both of my eyes to fully focus on one point, so when I consciously force them to, I see better, around 480p, so even without medicated lenses, glasses in general help by giving my eyes a point to focus on, keeping them aligned and improving my vision as a result.
And should a situation arise where I needed a higher resolution, I would use the forbidden techniques of the anti glass monks passed onto me.
The Eye Squint (720p)
Observe closer(1060p)
Ask someone (4k)
All these just not to wear a prescribed lens... Not bad.
