Chapter 16 - Kidnapping

Hunting meaningful treasures allowed Sora Yukihara to exchange them with the system in return for rewards.

The genetically engineered spider created by Oscorp was a treasure.

Naturally, the Lizard serum and its antidote were also treasures.

But what shocked Sora Yukihara wasn't how valuable they were—

It was how little they were worth.

The bio-engineered spider that turned Peter into Spider-Man was worth a Silver Treasure Chest.

But the Lizard serum and its antidote together were only worth a Bronze Treasure Chest.

The Pirate System currently had three tiers of treasure chests:

Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

Each tier corresponded to items of matching value.

Simple and straightforward.

For example—

The String-String Fruit Sora Yukihara had obtained could only come from a Gold Treasure Chest.

Bronze chests likely contained lower-tier items—

Ordinary weapons, Skypiea dials, or even weak Zoan-type Devil Fruits.

Fortunately—

Three unopened Bronze chests could be exchanged for one Silver chest.

And three unopened Silver chests could be exchanged for one Gold chest.

That meant—

With nine Bronze chests, Sora Yukihara could guarantee a high-tier reward.

If not for the system's restriction that the same type of treasure couldn't be submitted repeatedly—

He could've farmed Devil Fruits endlessly just from spiders and serums.

"Not bad."

Sora Yukihara stored the Bronze chest in the system space and didn't bother opening it.

The Lizard serum was just an extra gain—nothing more.

"Time to move."

He looked toward a distant elite academy, a cold smile forming.

That was where Norman Osborn's only son—

Harry Osborn—

Was studying.

The future "Green Goblin."

This information had come from Dr. Connors.

And Connors had already proven to be a very useful pawn.

Night had fallen.

Harry walked alone across the academy lawn, his expression heavy.

Land in New York was worth its weight in gold—

Yet this so-called noble academy occupied an enormous area.

Even larger than some universities.

Multiple football fields, countless basketball courts—

All meticulously maintained.

Even the grass was so soft you could walk barefoot without discomfort.

This—

Was what defined true "nobility."

And in this place—

Harry was nobility among nobles.

Oscorp wasn't just wealthy—

It had terrifying influence.

Otherwise, in The Amazing Spider-Man, how could they suppress an incident as severe as the Lizard's rampage so easily?

Cold, distant, and hard to approach—

Harry was utterly alone.

He wandered aimlessly, kicking at the grass.

He knew his father was dying.

But he felt no sadness.

If anything—

He wished the old man would die sooner.

"Lonely, aren't you?"

A voice suddenly appeared in front of him.

Harry was startled and quickly stepped back.

There had been no sound. No presence.

Sora Yukihara had appeared out of nowhere.

"Who are you?"

Harry stared at him cautiously, his hand moving toward his pocket.

Even in such a secure place, he always carried a small defensive weapon.

An Oscorp invention—

Compact, discreet, but capable of instantly incapacitating an adult.

"Don't bother, Harry."

Sora Yukihara spoke lazily. "I just need your cooperation for something. Once it's done, you'll be free to leave."

Harry sneered. "So, kidnapping."

Sora Yukihara shook his head. "I'm not asking for your opinion. I'm informing you."

"Damn it—"

Harry moved—

Flick!

A thin thread shot out instantly, piercing through his hand.

Clang!

The weapon dropped to the ground.

With a pull of Sora Yukihara's fingers, it flew into his hand.

Examining it briefly, Sora Yukihara nodded. "Nice. Compact, concealed, and effective."

Only then did Harry realize—

This man wasn't normal.

"A mutant…?"

His eyes filled with caution.

Sora Yukihara didn't answer.

Instead, he glanced at Harry's injured hand. "Let's go. Unless you want your head pierced next."

The injury wasn't severe.

The thread was as thin as silk—just enough to pierce the hand.

The pain was sharp but fleeting.

Harry hesitated—

Then followed.

But he still wasn't willing to give up.

"You're kidnapping me for money, right? Name your price. I have plenty of allowance—you don't need to trouble that old man."

"Who said I want money?"

Sora Yukihara looked at him with interest. "Though… you really hate your father, don't you?"

He quickly pieced it together. "Your mother died early. And since childhood, your father ignored you. You have wealth—but no family. No wonder you resent him."

Harry's fists clenched.

Like a wound being ripped open.

Sora Yukihara suddenly asked, "If I use you to exchange for someone… and you get to go back to your father—would that make you happy?"

"What exactly are you planning?"

Harry could barely hold back his anger.

Sora Yukihara stopped walking.

His eyes turned cold.

"If I told you the person I'm trading for… is your only friend—Peter Parker…"

"Would you still be willing?"
