This is so awkward...
I can't really blame them it's been 6 years since we've seen each other.
The silence continued for a while. Until it was broken by the person across the table from me.
"W-Well then, while we wait for food, shall we all introduce ourselves, since it's been awhile for all of us haha,,,"
They all looked at each other and nodded, while me in the very corner of the table just nodded along.
"I'll start then. Heyo~, my name is Jessie, 24 years old, I attend at *** University Majored in Psychology, nice to meet you."
""""Ohhh~""""
They started clapping after her introduction, and because I don't want to ruin the mood, I started clapping as well.
Jessie, I remembered her as an outgoing person. Always ready to socialise with someone. Already made friends from other years, like the Seniors and the Juniors. People saw her as energetic and fun to hangout and interact with.
I guess even after all these years, she is still the same outgoing and extroverted as ever.
After her, came another person introducing themselves, "Hi everyone, my name is Marcel, I'm also 24 years old, and I'm attending at *** University and majored in Computer Science."
"Haha, still acting mysterious, even though you act like an open book~"
Jessie commented after Marcel's introduction. The other two started giggling, while Marcel, is laughing from embarrassment as he sat back down.
The next one stood while still giggling, "Hi~ everyone good to see you all again~ I'm Nichole~ 23 years old, attending at *** University, majored in Journalism~"
Seeing her introduce herself, reminded me of something that happened in the past.
While I was reminiscing, the one next to me said something to Nichole, "Hey~ didn't you and John here used to date each other."
Hearing him say that while talking about someone who is right next to them, had me flabbergasted.
I looked at Nichole noticing her staring back at me with a blank face took me aback, after staring at each other, she then said, "Ah, that's right! That did happen huh? Haha~"
Sigh~ I wanna leave and go home.
I mean, I don't blame her. She's now meeting the very person that made her change the way she is now.
Nichole used to be the timid, quiet nerdy type. The two of us started dating because we shared the same hobby and interests. So we dated, but something happened, that we eventually drifted apart.
After graduating our Senior Year, we haven't seen each other since. So meeting again, through a sudden friend group reunion will definitely make things a little awkward.
After everyone heard her comment, they started giggling and laughing saying she couldn't possibly forgotten, and kept teasing her and me. But I didn't pay much attention to it.
"Hehe~ I guess I'm next."
The next after Nichole sat back down, was the very person who made things awkward between me and Nichole.
"Yo, I'm Aaron. 25 years old and I attend at *** University, and I majored in Business Management. Nice to meet you."
Ending his introduction with a thumbs up. Everyone was more impressed, not by his straight forwardness, but he was majored in.
"Alright then. Last but not least.." Aaron said while pointing and staring at me.
I guess I'm the last one.
I stood up and scratched my head trying to think of what to say, "My name is John. 23 years old. Attending at *** University and majored in Psychology and Literature."
My introduction was bland and boring.
I call tell from their faces they were not impressed.
I even noticed that Nichole wasn't even paying attention and continued to talk with Jessie, who was the only one clapping after my introduction.
After my introduction, with perfect timing I saw food being brought to our table from a distance.
As I was about to sit down, I noticed my glass cup shaking and thought it was just a small earthquake.
But then slowly and gradually, the shaking became more intense.
I looked at my group and realising I'm not the only one experiencing this bizarre situation.
"W-What is happening...?! What's with this sudden earthquake..?!"
"E-Everyone, try to stay calm..!"
The shaking continued and gradually began more violent. The other grabbed onto the table to stabilise their balance.
I looked around to see if the other customers are trying to do the same thing. Then I noticed they were doing none of that.
In fact it's almost like we were the only ones experiencing the earthquake. As the realisation hit me, a beam of light began to emerge on the floor.
Thinking the floor is cracking, the other began to packing more and more. Tears forming in their eyes, feelings of despair of the fact that they were about to die.
When the realisation hit me. The thought of death sent shivers down my spine. Instead of crying, screaming or despair.
All I can do is form a smile at the realisation that death is coming.
As the beam of light struck us, the people from the restaurant arrived with our food and noticed we were nowhere to be found. It was almost like the Earthquake, The crying and screaming didn't even happen. There was just silence, and one of the staff noticed a note on the table in cursive saying, "I will be burrowing them for a bit."
