Aria didn't move.
The door was gone.
Just seconds ago, she had entered through it. The old wooden frame. The silver handle. The faint creak. Now there was nothing behind her except towering shelves filled with endless books.
Her fingers slowly loosened from the air where the doorknob had been.
"This… isn't possible," she whispered.
The spiral library stretched upward into darkness. The lights above flickered, dimmer than before. Shadows moved between the shelves, even though nothing seemed to be there.
Then a soft sound echoed.
A book slid out from somewhere above.
It didn't fall fast. It drifted. Almost like something invisible was guiding it. It landed gently on the floor a few feet away from her.
Aria stared at it.
She didn't want to move.
But she did.
Slowly, carefully, she stepped forward.
The moment her foot touched the ground near the book, faint lines appeared beneath her shoe.
She froze.
Letters.
They were forming on the floor.
Aria stepped closer.
Her breath caught in her throat.
"I didn't… say that."
More words appeared.
She doesn't understand yet.
But she will.
The air felt colder.
Aria looked around. The shelves stood silent. Endless. Watching.
Her arms tingled.
She looked down.
Words were appearing on her wrist again. Thin, dark letters, forming slowly like ink rising from under her skin.
She wants to leave.
But there is no exit now.
"No," Aria said softly, pulling her sleeve down. "Stop."
The letters didn't stop.
The story has started.
The lights flickered again.
This time, the darkness above seemed deeper. Like the spiral had grown taller.
Then she heard it.
Footsteps.
Soft. Slow. Above her.
Aria looked up.
The spiral of shelves curved around and around. On the level above, something moved. A shadow passed behind the books.
Her heart began to race.
"Hello?" she called.
No answer.
But a book slid out from a shelf beside her. It floated gently toward her, stopping at eye level. Then it opened.
The pages were blank.
Aria leaned closer.
Words slowly appeared.
You opened the door.
Now the story continues.
She swallowed.
"What story?"
The page turned.
Yours.
Aria stepped back.
The book stayed in front of her.
Find the writer.
Before the writer changes the ending.
Her hands felt cold.
"Where is the writer?"
The book didn't respond.
Instead, it snapped shut.
At the same moment, something shifted above her.
Aria looked up again.
This time, she saw it clearly.
Someone was standing on the level above.
Still.
Watching her.
The figure looked… familiar.
Same height.
Same posture.
Aria's chest tightened.
"Hey!" she called.
The figure slowly turned.
But before she could see its face, it stepped behind a shelf and disappeared.
"No— wait!"
Aria moved forward quickly, but the shelves around her suddenly shifted. The rows seemed longer now. The path she thought she saw was gone.
Then a scratching sound filled the air.
Like something writing.
Not in one place.
Everywhere.
Aria looked around as giant words slowly appeared across the curved walls of books.
She is searching.
Another line formed.
But the library is searching too.
Her breath became uneven.
The floor beneath her changed again.
Do not trust reflections.
She frowned.
"Reflections?"
A faint glow appeared to her left.
Aria turned.
Between two tall shelves stood a tall mirror. She was sure it hadn't been there before.
The glass looked old. Slightly foggy. The frame was carved with symbols she didn't understand.
Slowly, she stepped closer.
Her reflection stared back at her.
Same face.
Same expression.
But something felt wrong.
Her reflection wasn't breathing at the same speed.
Aria froze.
The reflection tilted its head.
Aria hadn't moved.
Her heart slammed against her chest.
The reflection slowly raised its hand.
Aria's hand stayed at her side.
"No…" she whispered.
The reflection placed its palm against the glass.
Then words appeared across the mirror surface.
You are late.
Aria stepped back quickly.
The reflection smiled.
But Aria wasn't smiling.
The lights flickered violently.
The mirror cracked.
Not loudly.
Just one thin line spreading across the glass.
The reflection leaned closer from the other side.
And then it whispered — though Aria heard it clearly beside her ear.
"Run."
The mirror shattered.
The lights went out.
And somewhere in the darkness…
footsteps began coming down the spiral toward her.
