Back at Anita's house
Mrs. Angela was busy attending to her canteen business when she spotted Mr. Edrado from a distance. Wondering what he was looking for, she decided to ignore him and continued working, though she kept an eye and an ear out.
As he approached her, he spoke. "Good morning. I come in peace."
"Of what use is 'good morning' to me?" she retorted sharply. "And besides, who cares if you come in pieces or in peace? Anyway, just tell me what you want."
"I want to speak to my daughter. I want her to know me as her father."
"As what? For what? You abandoned me! Even when I was pregnant, you left me for that rich lady. You told me we were over! So what daughter are you bragging about? Anyway, I have told my daughter everything she needs to know about you, and she despises you for it. So, Mr. Peace, goodbye. Leave."
"Yes, I know I did abandon you," Edrado admitted, "but that is no reason to keep my daughter away from me."
"Oh, I see now," Angela sneered. "So your new wife cannot bear children, right? Is that why you are here? Well, for your information, you have missed your way. The last time I checked, you were as good as dead to us. So please, we don't welcome ghosts here. Leave!"
"Fine, yes, I accept the fact that I did all those things. But all I ask is just to have a look at my daughter, just to recognize her. Please, Angela."
"Okay, as you can see, she is not home yet. Now what do you want me to do? Just leave here now, please! Leave! Go and meet your rich wife! Go away!" she screamed at him.
He reluctantly got into his car and drove away. As soon as he left, she calmed down.
Meanwhile, someone had been spying on them the whole time. The spy left unnoticed. He had been assigned to follow Mr. Edrado and watch his every move by his boss, Jago—who was actually the father of Edrado's new wife.
The spy, Markus, returned before Edrado and reported everything he had seen and heard.
"So I saw him with a woman, who turned out to be his first wife," Markus reported. "And I heard them both talking about his daughter. That means the first wife did have a child for him, and she is all grown up now. The woman mentioned that her daughter is working."
Jago stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Hmm, Edrado... Edrado. You dare to play games with me." He turned to his spy. "Did you get photos of that woman?"
"Yes, Sir. I took pictures. Here." Markus handed over the phone.
"Good job. You may go."
"Thank you, Boss."
As Markus walked out, Edrado himself walked in.
"Morning, Boss. I have prepared the goods across the border. Everything is safe, Sir."
"But I told you never to see that woman again!" Jago roared. "So you even have a daughter, my dear? You tried to keep it from me, but no longer. You dare, Edrado! You dare defy me knowing fully well what I am capable of! You know what I can do, yet you still dare to cross me."
"I am sorry, Sir! I just... I just wanted to confirm if I truly have a daughter. I am sorry!"
"Well, your disobedience will lead to her death. As we speak, I have sent my boys to eliminate her."
Edrado fell to his knees, trembling. "Please! Spare the life of Angela! Please!"
But it was too late. Before Jago could even call his men to stop, news came that Angela had been shot twice and died instantly.
"I am sorry, Edrado," Jago said coldly, standing up. "But she is dead already." He walked away, leaving Edrado alone to weep.
"I am sorry, my dear Angela," Edrado whispered, tears streaming down his face. "I wish I could have seen you earlier. I wanted to explain... to tell you that leaving you wasn't my choice. I left to save you and our unborn daughter. I was going to explain everything to you. I am so sorry. Please, rest in peace."
"I promise you that no harm will come to our daughter," he vowed. "Even if it means killing myself to protect her, I will do it. Rest in peace, my dear wife."
Just as he was about to leave, Juliana—Jago's daughter—entered the place where he was.
"Oh, so Edrado," she said with a mocking smile. "You think you can just have your cake and eat it too? So you took my love for granted. Anyway, she is gone now. And if you dare refuse to love me back... your daughter will be next."
Edrado stood up, his eyes burning with fury. "If any of you dare harm my daughter, it will not end well for any of us. So leave my daughter alone!" He turned and walked out.
"Edrado!! Edrado!!!" Juliana screamed his name. "You dare walk out on me? Fine! No problem! Let's wait and see!"
She watched him leave, noticing that he did not turn back. She screamed in pure rage. "Ahhhhh!".
