Chapter 110: The Little Spider is Set Free

"Leest, go!"

At Shirazawa's command, the little goblin girl laboriously lifted a massive greatsword, let out a squeaky battle cry, and charged forward.

*Pfff-thunk!*

The sharp blade dug deep into an Elroe Snail, and she gave it a fierce twist. Infused with a dark aura, the greatsword instantly deleted the Snail's remaining HP.

A baseline goblin completely lacked any natural means of attack, so they had to rely entirely on external items to make up for their lack of damage output. To speed things up, Shirazawa had handed over the Dark Blade–one of his own dual swords–for her to use. And honestly, she was cutting through those kids like butter, leveling up at an absolute blistering pace.

[Experience threshold reached. Individual: Lesser Goblin has reached Lv10. Evolution is now available.]

"Master~ It looks like Leest can evolve now," the slightly ditzy little girl said, dragging the heavy greatsword behind her as she stood atop a pile of snail carcasses, looking adorably clueless.

"Mm. Tell me your evolution options."

Leest gathered her thoughts and spoke up. "There's Goblin, Hobgoblin, and Lesser Ogre."

Based on the evolution tree she described, Shirazawa deduced that the first and third options would eventually lead back to the Ogre race, which was the high-tier evolutionary branch of goblins. The middle path would likely lead toward a giant Goblin King. This classification system was pretty similar to how spider monsters branched out.

He told her to choose the first path. Although she would still technically be a low-tier monster, her race would upgrade from a standard "Goblin" to a proper "Goblin" variant with significantly higher growth caps. This path would boost her potential without drastically changing her physical size. If she went down the Ogre route and Shiro came back to find her cute little house pet turned into a hideous monster, she would absolutely lose her mind. He really didn't feel like sleeping on the floor.

Leest obediently followed Shirazawa's instructions and selected the first option. As the light of evolution enveloped her, the little creature drifted into a deep slumber.

When she woke up again, her previously chubby build had leaned out quite a bit, and her height had stretched from 70 centimeters to a grand total of 71 centimeters. Her overall appearance hadn't changed much; her face was still round, squishy, and incredibly cute.

However, as a newfound surge of power flooded her system, Leest's naturally timid personality began to quietly shift. The fear melted away, replaced by a fierce fighting spirit as a tiny fire ignited in her eyes.

*So I can actually become strong too... Leest isn't a useless burden. Leest is going to become just as strong as Master.*

*That way, I can help big brother and the tribe beat up the bad guys!*

"Congratulations, Leest," Shirazawa said, reaching out to gently stroke her soft, smooth fur, a warm and gentle look in his eyes.

"Chuu-jee! Chuu-jee!"

Leest narrowed her eyes happily, basking in the headpats with an expression of absolute bliss.

"Hehehe..."

Well, she was still a total goofball. Shirazawa shook his head slightly and continued guiding her through the labyrinth. He wanted to get the little girl's stats up as quickly as possible so she could finally be left to free-roam on her own.

Meanwhile, back on Earth, inside the two-story Western-style house.

When morning arrived, Moe-Wife had already dutifully gotten out of bed to prepare breakfast. It was quite obvious that D had trained her exceptionally well.

At the dining table, Shiro silently munched on a fried egg sandwich. Watching D dine with absolute elegance across from her, she realized that the biggest difference between the two of them was probably the fact that she herself was a genuine glutton.

Ever since her reincarnation, her and Shirazawa's absolute life motto for survival had been to never let a single scrap of food go to waste. Later on, once she acquired the skill, her inner foodie had fully awakened and completely spiraled out of control. Since she could eat as much as she wanted without ever gaining a single pound, life had been nothing short of pure bliss.

Unfortunately, after her apotheosis, her stomach had betrayed her; she could now only consume a finite amount of food, which honestly made her feel incredibly tragic.

"Don't you have any questions you want to ask me?"

Seeing the thick dark circles under Shiro's eyes, D guessed that she hadn't slept well at all last night, so she took the initiative to break the ice.

To her surprise, Shiro simply shook her head and went right back to enjoying her breakfast.

"Aren't you even a little curious about your true identity?" D pressed further.

"I am. But I've already figured most of it out." Shiro swallowed the bite of bread in her mouth, picked up a napkin to elegantly wipe her lips, and finally raised her gaze to look at D. "Whether I'm just your body-double or a total fake doesn't matter. Every single thing I've experienced up until now is what made me who I am today."

"Therefore, I am unique. No one can replace me."

"My name is Shiro. I am Shiro, who happens to hold Hiiro Wakaba's memories. That's all there is to it."

Hearing this, a sharp gleam of interest flashed across D's eyes. The little spider lady always managed to deliver the most unexpected answers. This was... truly entertaining.

Shiro, meanwhile, was thinking: *The ancients said it best: the more you know, the faster you die. An existential entity like D couldn't have casually created me without some sort of grand, world-ending conspiracy hiding underneath. I'm not listening. If I listen, I'll get locked into a contract. I'm not that stupid.*

But reality had a funny way of derailing expectations. D decided it was absolutely necessary to tell her the truth. She was genuinely looking forward to seeing what kind of hilarious reaction Shiro would give once she had the full truth.

As Moe-Wife quietly sat to the side eating her food and enjoying the drama, D began her narrative:

The previous Demon Lord and Hero had been manipulated by a certain individual into believing that the Administrators of their world were purely evil entities. They then plotted to unleash a massive dimensional rift, hoping the catastrophic explosive force would permanently eliminate the Administrator, Güliedistodiez.

However, due to the direct intervention of the Goddess Sariel, the runaway dimensional energy was forcefully warped away from its intended target and dropped right next to D instead, triggering a localized disaster.

Feeling a tiny bit bad for the random bystanders who got caught in the crossfire, D chose to reincarnate the entire classroom into the alternate world as a form of compensation. Of course, her main goal was simply to make the alternate world's story a whole lot more entertaining to satisfy her own twisted amusement.

And that was how the entire story had kicked off.

"Okay... but what does any of that have to do with me?" Shiro still didn't understand the exact purpose behind her own creation.

"The souls of every regular world are strictly logged and monitored by various mysterious gods. My subordinates are all exceptionally competent, so if even a single soul from that classroom had gone missing, it would have instantly raised red flags across the network."

"If that happened, my hard-earned vacation plan to slack off... uh, I mean, my plan to experience the life of an ordinary human for my studies would have been completely ruined."

At that exact moment, Shiro's brain went completely numb.

*Are you freaking kidding me?! The entire meaning behind my existence was just so you could continue being a lazy slacker?!*

*What happened to the epic, world-ending conspiracy?!*

*I was literally brought into this universe for such a completely ridiculous reason?! I am so incredibly mad right now!*

She glared at D with absolute fury, her eyes practically shooting flames. She had honestly braced herself for some grand, terrifying cosmic mystery. She had spent the entire trip worrying that D would silence her permanently once she uncovered the dark truth. Or at the very least, she figured D had engineered her to accomplish some legendary, impossible task, and out of respect for her creator, she might have reluctantly agreed to help.

But the actual truth was so incredibly casual that she felt completely played.

She immediately made up her mind: she was going to completely slack off too. Unless D literally forced her hand by brute strength–in which case she wouldn't have a choice–she was going to do whatever the hell she wanted from now on.

Seeing her take a stance of absolute defiance, D calmly sipped her coffee and offered a relaxed, leisurely explanation. "That's perfectly fine."

"Huh?"

"Only absolute freedom allows you to truly shine. I respect your choices."

"Wait, what?" Shiro froze on the spot, her brain completely stalling out for a long time before she finally snapped back to reality.

*Does this mean... I've officially been set free into the wild?*
