Chapter 4: Ayusha couldn't ignore it anymore.
The feeling, the visions, the shadow—everything was becoming too real, too frequent, and too connected to be dismissed as coincidence. Even as she sat in her classroom the next day, trying to focus on her studies, her mind remained alert, almost waiting for something to happen again.
"This isn't going to stop…" she thought quietly.
Her fingers rested on her notebook, but she wasn't writing anything. Her eyes drifted toward the window again, watching the movement outside. Students walking, teachers passing by, everything normal—yet her instincts told her that normal wouldn't last.
It never did anymore.
Her heart beat steadily, but there was a tension beneath it, like a quiet storm building.
"I need to be ready this time," she whispered under her breath.
The shadow appeared faintly near the edge of her vision, barely noticeable, but present. It didn't disturb her like before. Instead, it felt… familiar.
Ayusha didn't look directly at it, but she acknowledged it.
"If something happens…" she thought, "you'll show me, right?"
The shadow flickered once.
A subtle response.
Enough.
Ayusha took a slow breath, her focus sharpening.
"I won't hesitate this time."
Minutes passed.
Nothing happened.
The class continued as usual, the teacher explaining lessons, students listening, writing, occasionally whispering to each other.
But then—
The stillness came.
Sudden.
Sharp.
Stronger than before.
Ayusha's body tensed immediately as the world around her froze once again. The sound disappeared, movement stopped, and silence filled everything.
But this time—
It didn't feel calm.
It felt urgent.
Her breath became slightly uneven.
"This is different…" she realized.
The shadow appeared clearly beside her now, its form flickering more intensely than before. It wasn't calm either.
It felt… alert.
Ayusha's chest tightened.
"What is it?" she asked quickly.
No direct answer.
But the vision came immediately.
Not slowly.
Not gently.
But forcefully.
A sharp image flooded her mind.
A road.
Crowded.
People moving quickly.
And then—
A loud sound.
A vehicle losing control.
Screams.
Chaos.
Ayusha gasped, her body reacting instantly.
"This is going to happen…" she whispered.
The image became clearer.
A turn in the road.
A speeding car.
A group of students crossing.
And then—
Impact.
The vision shattered.
Ayusha's heart pounded loudly.
"This is worse than before…" she realized.
This wasn't a small accident.
This was something serious.
Something dangerous.
Her breathing became faster as she tried to think.
"Where is this?" she asked.
Her voice filled with urgency.
The shadow flickered rapidly, and another image flashed.
A signboard.
A familiar street.
Ayusha's eyes widened.
"That's near the school…"
The realization hit her immediately.
"It's close."
She didn't wait.
She stood up suddenly, her chair making a slight sound even in the frozen world.
"I have to go now," she said.
Her voice firm.
Focused.
She moved quickly, her steps fast and determined.
The stillness didn't stop her.
It never did.
But this time—
It felt like she was racing against something she couldn't see.
Her heart pounded louder with every step.
"I won't be late…" she thought.
"I can't be late."
As she reached the exit, the stillness broke.
Time returned instantly.
Sounds rushed back.
Voices.
Movement.
Everything normal again.
But Ayusha didn't stop.
She ran.
Ignoring the confused looks around her, ignoring the calls of her teacher, ignoring everything except the urgency inside her.
She reached the road within minutes, her breath slightly uneven but her focus clear.
"This is the place…" she whispered.
Her eyes scanned quickly.
People were there.
Students.
Cars moving normally.
Nothing looked dangerous.
Yet.
Her chest tightened.
"It's going to happen…"
She moved closer to the crossing, her eyes searching for anything unusual.
And then—
She saw it.
A car approaching from a distance.
Too fast.
Her heartbeat spiked.
"That's it…"
Her mind reacted instantly.
The group of students began crossing the road, unaware. Laughing. Talking.
They didn't see the danger.
But Ayusha did.
"STOP!" she shouted loudly.
Her voice cut through the noise.
The students looked at her, confused.
"What?"
"Don't cross!" she shouted again.
Her voice urgent.
But hesitation slowed them.
They didn't move fast enough.
The car got closer.
Faster.
Ayusha's mind raced.
"No time…"
She ran forward without thinking, her body moving on instinct.
She reached them and pushed them back with all her strength.
"Move!"
They stumbled backward, shocked.
And in the next second—
The car sped past.
Too close.
Dangerously close.
The sound of tires screeching filled the air.
People gasped.
Voices rose.
But no one was hit.
No one was hurt.
Ayusha stood there, breathing heavily, her heart racing uncontrollably.
"I… stopped it…" she whispered.
Her voice filled with disbelief.
Again.
She did it again.
The students looked at her, shocked but safe.
"Thank you…" one of them said softly.
But Ayusha barely heard it.
Because she felt it.
That presence.
Stronger than before.
Her eyes shifted slightly.
The shadow flickered beside her, calm again.
But something else—
Something unseen—
Felt like it was watching.
Not from nearby.
But from somewhere deeper.
Ayusha's expression changed.
"This isn't just about me anymore…" she realized.
Her voice quiet.
Because now—
The visions were stronger.
The danger was bigger.
And whatever was connected to her—
Was becoming more active.
Ayusha took a slow breath, trying to steady herself.
"I can't just react anymore," she whispered.
Her voice firm.
"I need to understand this."
Because stopping accidents wasn't enough anymore.
Not when the future was becoming more dangerous.
Not when the unknown was getting closer.
And not when she could feel—
That something bigger was waiting.
