Chapter 25 - CHAPTER 25:THE SYSTEM THAT CALLED HIM BACK

The school computers turned on by themselves.

One after another.

No one touched them.

No one commanded them.

Yet every screen in the building flickered to life at the exact same second.

Kelvin

He stopped walking.

The corridor lights dimmed slightly.

Not out.

Not broken.

Just… responsive.

Like the building had noticed him.

"That's not normal…" he whispered.

His phone vibrated.

But this time—

It didn't show a message.

It showed a black screen.

With one line in the center:

ACCESSING… KELVIN

Aisha

She felt it too.

Not through sight.

Through memory.

Her head tilted slightly.

Like something inside her had been pulled.

"Kelvin…" she said softly.

But this time, her voice wasn't calm.

It was uncertain.

Like she was remembering something she didn't want to remember.

Flash — Shared memory (Kelvin & Aisha)

White room.

Machines.

A voice speaking clearly:

"Their connection must remain stable."

Kelvin stood in the middle of it.

Younger.

Confused.

And Aisha—standing opposite him.

Watching.

Not as a stranger.

But as someone tied to him.

A hand reached out between them.

Then—

Alarm sounds.

Back to reality

Both of them gasped at the same time.

Same moment.

Same breath.

Same fear.

Aisha grabbed her wrist.

"That wasn't just me," she whispered.

Kelvin nodded slowly.

"I saw it too."

Laura

She was already moving.

Fast.

Not emotionally now.

Purposefully.

She had accessed a restricted admin hallway she wasn't supposed to enter.

Her phone lit up with a file transfer.

FILE DOWNLOADING: AISHA RECORDS

Laura didn't hesitate.

"This is the only way to understand her," she whispered.

Not jealousy anymore.

Something sharper.

Determination.

Nancy

From the library corridor, Nancy stopped walking.

Every screen nearby flickered once.

Then showed the same message:

KELVIN HAS BEEN LOCATED

Nancy frowned.

"…located?"

She stepped closer to one screen.

And saw something else appear beneath it:

SECOND SUBJECT: AISHA — ACTIVE RECALL STAGE

Nancy's expression changed slightly.

"So it's not just memory…" she murmured.

"It's tracking."

Aisha & Kelvin — outside staircase

They had left the main building without realizing it.

Their feet moved on instinct.

Like something was pulling them to the same place.

Aisha broke the silence first.

"If I'm remembering correctly…" she said slowly…

"…then they didn't just erase my past."

Kelvin looked at her.

"They built something around it."

Aisha nodded.

"And you were inside it."

Kelvin

That line hit deeper than everything before it.

"I was inside what?" he asked.

Aisha looked at him carefully.

"I don't know yet," she admitted.

A pause.

Then softer:

"But I think you were important."

Kelvin let out a slow breath.

"That doesn't sound like a good thing."

Aisha didn't disagree.

Laura's move

Somewhere in the system room—

A file finished downloading.

Laura opened it immediately.

Her eyes scanned fast.

Then stopped.

Her expression changed.

"…No," she whispered.

Because on the screen—

was Kelvin's name.

Not as a student.

Not as a subject.

But as:

ORIGIN LINK: ACTIVE

Laura stepped back slightly.

"What does that mean…" she muttered.

Nancy gets closer to truth

Nancy watched the system messages on multiple screens.

Then quietly said:

"Kelvin isn't just connected to her…"

A pause.

"He's connected to everything."

Final scene — The pull

Kelvin suddenly stopped walking.

Aisha stopped too.

They both felt it.

The same pressure.

Like the air had tightened.

Like something had opened somewhere nearby.

A voice—soft, digital, everywhere at once:

WELCOME BACK, KELVIN.

Kelvin froze.

Aisha turned sharply.

"Did you hear that?"

Kelvin didn't answer.

Because the screen in the distance had already changed again.

Now showing one file.

Unopened.

Waiting.

Labelled:

PROJECT: ECHOES OF ME

Aisha whispered:

"…That's not possible."

Kelvin took one step forward.

The system responded instantly.

ACCESS GRANTED

The screen opened by itself.

And before either of them could react—

The entire school went dark.
