Chapter 48 - Summertime

Summer—that time of year when you're a student and the planet's heat plays a pleasant role, because for almost two months you can completely forget about school.

However, in love, summer is that season when you're living the best moments of romance with your partner. For Takashi, summer had arrived in two groups.

A summer with six beautiful mature women whom he had won over with his heart and plenty of stamina, and a second summer where three gorgeous girls from his academy were his girlfriends.

However, the summer that the planet would bring for Takashi would be even hotter.

But summer was still yet to arrive. Two and a half months remained before summer's arrival.

Everything was happiness and tranquility for Komuro, having each day a moment to give his love to the ladies of his harem of mature women. He slept with great pleasure beside Hayashi Kyoko after a school day, having brought her to his house. But that night, a peculiar dream invaded Takashi.

"What?" the dark-haired boy asked, finding himself in such an unknown place—some kind of main hall of a church or cult he didn't recognize. In front of him, on what seemed to be the altar, a maiden with a black veil over her face and a dress of black and red colors smiled at Komuro, laughing as if with malice.

"Who are you? What is this place?"

"Knowing where you are and my identity is not what matters now, son of Adam," said the sinister dark maiden. "I can see you have grown well, and the women you have chosen for the new world are good candidates to be the next Eves for that new genesis."

"What are you talking about?" What was this dream—an omen or a warning? "What do you mean by Adam and Eve? What new world?"

"Even so, I must tell you they are not enough. You must seek more to ensure the survival of your blood," said this mysterious woman. "Your destiny is greater than you think, son of the great serpent. You were born to create a new world."

"This is worrying me! What new world!" Takashi shouted, but the maiden only began to cackle, creating mystery around Komuro and his question. No matter how much Takashi yelled for her to explain, she drifted away until he woke up.

Like a bad dream, Komuro woke up without remembering anything he had dreamed, and no matter how much he racked his brain, he would remember nothing, like many people. Even if he lay back down and tried to return, he couldn't.

With sleep lost and it being close to six in the morning, Takashi didn't try any longer and got up from his bed, gently waking Hayashi, who slept comfortably with him.

"Takashi-kun, it's still early to get up," Kyoko said, who slept naked, covering her body only with her boyfriend's sheet. She just watched the boy's strong back as he got out of bed.

"Kyoko needs to get to school first. You always tell me it would be a problem if we were seen arriving together, so I'm going to make Sensei breakfast and a bath," he declared with a smile to his teacher girlfriend, then gave his woman a kiss on the lips. "Good morning, by the way."

"Good morning to you too," she replied cheerfully.

While her young man made breakfast in the kitchen of Takashi's house, she sighed, filled with joy at having such a good man as a boyfriend, despite him being much younger than Hayashi.

"Takashi-kun is so attentive to me," she spoke to herself as she sat on the same bed, covering her cleavage with the sheet.

Looking around the boy's house, she saw on the nightstand beside her a semi-worn, thick-covered notebook. It caught the attention of Fujimi's science teacher, and when she read it, she didn't think she'd go beyond the first page.

Thirty minutes later, with Takashi having served breakfast, Kyoko came downstairs wearing a white shirt of his size and a pair of Komuro's boxers. But what she wore most was that notebook of her boyfriend's, which she couldn't stop reading.

"I made pancakes. I hope you li—" Takashi saw that his teacher had one of his storybooks in her hands.

"Wh-where did you get that!" With his face full of embarrassment, he went toward Hayashi and tried to take the notebook away, but she wouldn't let him. "Please, give me that!"

Like a little child, he tried to take the notebook from the redheaded teacher, but he couldn't.

"You told me you wrote stories, but I never imagined you had written a novel," Kyoko said, drawn to the novel Komuro had written.

"No one was supposed to read it." He was dying of embarrassment. Kyoko handed him his book.

"Why not? It's a very good story," Hayashi commented. "I only read the first two chapters, and I already like it. You're a good writer. Have you thought about publishing it?"

"No, I don't plan to," he said, clutching his old notebook jealously.

"I wrote this story two years after losing my parents. I was a kid. And every time I read it, I feel embarrassed about myself."

"It's a very good story. Sure, there are spelling mistakes, but that's the least of it. The protagonists are very interesting, and the adventures they face are too," the woman praised.

"I know a friend who works at an international publishing house. They might be interested in publishing your story or another one."

"Well, this is the saga of my stories that I've put the most effort into," he said, handing Hayashi his book.

"Saga? You've made more books of this novel of yours?" Hayashi asked.

"About 17 books over all these years." He led her back to his room and showed all the books he had written to Hayashi, who didn't hesitate any longer.

"What do you say then?" Kyoko asked.

"If you say my story has potential," he said, swallowing the embarrassment of having his secret discovered, "only because Kyoko-chan asks."

That was how Takashi's career as a published author began. Within a week, his book was accepted and published by the person Kyoko Hayashi mentioned, as was hers. He managed to go unnoticed as a published author, without glory or trouble. Glory would end up being what he'd worry about the most.

In the span of a month, our protagonist's book became a sensation, and his name began to be a phenomenon among both young people and adults. In that second month, the second consecutive book by Komuro Takashi would be released, or as he asked to be rebranded for the second batch of his first novel, Dead Man. I said glory would be what he should worry about, because on this afternoon, at the humble Takagi household, all dressed up, the protagonist of his own life was here to celebrate the birthday of Saya's father. In the company of important guests, each member of the Takagi family was surrounded and showered with compliments.

"Congratulations, Souichirou-san!" They heaped praise on the man for his family, old and new friends. "A toast to Takagi Souichirou-san!"

That was how the 41st birthday of the man of the Takagi family was celebrated. Beyond the toast, Saya was beside Takashi, watching the lord of Tokonosu enjoying himself. At that moment, the sons and daughters of Souichirou's guests surrounded these sweethearts with compliments.

"Takagi-san is so fortunate to have a daughter as lovely as you, Saya-san," the boys said, without wasting the beauty the pink-haired girl displayed, wearing an elegant dress for the first time like her mother.

"Th-thanks." That discomforted and irritated Saya. There was only one person from whom she wanted to hear that.

"Isn't that right? I told Saya the same thing earlier," Komuro commented to make her blush.

"Hey!" It went just as he planned.

"You haven't introduced him to us yet, Takagi-san. Who is your companion?" the young ladies asked with elegance, because despite his face, he was a captivating boy for the ladies. The connection he had with the Takagi heiress was dazzling.

"Right." She cleared her throat. Telling the truth would make the ill-intentioned males her age... "I want to introduce you to my boyfriend, Komuro Takashi."

"Your boyfriend! / Seriously!" They were taken aback by the revelation. However, there was more than one surprise at that moment. "Komuro Takashi? Aren't you Deadman-sensei?"

"You've mistaken someone else for me," he said, scratching the back of his head, showing humility.

"The very creator of Lament for Soldier's Glory. Really?" That astonished even the young people.

"Is it true you wrote the story when you were ten?!"

The bustle of those surrounding his daughter and the boy he tried to raise as a son drew the attention of both the man and the woman of the Takagi household. Yuriko watched with a smile as her daughter grew jealous over her young boyfriend.

Meanwhile, Souichirou was happy because his little girl had a man to whom he could entrust her safety.

To be continued…
