Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: She Was Homeless

Rose gently opened her room door, and everything inside was exactly the same as it had been six years ago. Tears brimmed in her eyes as she let out a small chuckle of happiness, moving around the room and touching the items like she hadn't seen them in years.

Vincent stood by the door, watching her quietly. His gaze followed her as she moved from one spot to another, touching things with excitement. Somehow… he found himself enjoying the sight.

Rose suddenly remembered he was there.

She quickly composed herself and recalled why she came.

Walking to the bed, she picked up a travelling bag and dropped it on top. She opened the wardrobe and began taking out her clothes, not bothering to fold them as she stuffed them inside.

"So, where are you packing to?" Vincent asked.

Rose paused and looked up at him. Only then did it hit her she had nowhere to go.

She was… homeless.

"U-uhm… I… don't know" she stammered. "I'm kinda homeless, as you heard what happened downstairs"

"You're moving to my house now" Vincent said simply, already stepping forward to help her pack.

He picked up some of her clothes, including her underwear, without hesitation.

Rose's face turned bright red, almost like a tomato. The fact that he was casually holding her bras and panties without any reaction made her even more flustered.

"Um… I won't pack all my clothes" she said quickly. "This is still my home. I grew up here… and I have a feeling I'll come back"

After packing, Rose went into the bathroom to change out of her wedding gown into a casual outfit, a baggy pair of jeans and a top. She carefully placed the wedding gown back inside her wardrobe.

Standing in front of the mirror, she noticed her hair was still styled, filled with countless pins. She tried reaching the ones at the back but couldn't.

Vincent noticed her struggle and walked up behind her.

Without a word, he began removing the pins one by one.

Rose froze, surprised, standing still as she watched him through the mirror. His expression was serious and focused.

Back then, the first time she saw him, she had been completely stunned.

This man was… dangerously handsome.

Tall, muscular, perfectly sculpted like he had been carved by God himself. She never blamed the women who flocked around him.

But she had pushed those thoughts away immediately.

She was married then. Admiring another man felt like betrayal.

And now… This same man was her husband. Who would have thought?

As Vincent removed the last pin, her long brown wavy hair cascaded down her back like soft waves, reaching her waist.

He paused for a second… silently admiring it.

"Does it hurt so much?" Vincent asked, pointing at her cheek.

"A little… but it's fine" Rose replied.

After everything, Vincent picked up her travelling bag and helped her carry it. Just as they were about to leave, Rose suddenly remembered something.

Her phone. She had left it behind before going to the wedding.

She quickly walked to the stool beside her bed and picked it up. The moment she held it, her hand trembled slightly.

It had been years since she last held a phone.

Emotion almost overwhelmed her again, but she held it back, remembering Vincent was waiting. She gestured to him, signaling they should go.

As they stepped out, they met a middle-aged woman in a maid's uniform standing outside.

"Young Miss… are you really leaving forever?" the woman asked emotionally.

Rose's expression softened immediately.

"Mrs Jane…"

This woman had practically raised her, treating her like her own daughter.

She had missed her so much.

"Of course not, Mrs Jane. I'll be back. This is still my home" Rose said with a gentle smile.

"Please take good care of Rose for me"

Mrs Jane said, turning to Vincent. "She might be a little stubborn and wayward, but please tolerate her"

Vincent only gave a slight nod.

Mrs Jane didn't know exactly what had happened, but she could tell something serious had gone wrong, for her father to hit her, and now she was leaving with another man.

"Don't say that, Mrs Jane" Rose said, faking a hurt expression.

After their brief farewell, Rose and Vincent went downstairs. The entire family was still there.

The moment Mark saw her, anger surged through him.

"Leave! I regret the day you were born. You're just like your mother!" he shouted.

Damn, Father… it's not that deep, Rose muttered in her mind, even though his words still hurt.

Before she could react further, Vincent reached out, grabbed her hand, and pulled her away from the villa.
