Vincent arrived at his company, and the moment he stepped inside, All of the staff around were shocked to see him.
Normally, Vincent was never late to the office, but today they hadn't seen him since morning. Some had already assumed he wasn't coming or that he had gone on one of his usual business trips. So seeing him suddenly walk in now, with that cold, unreadable expression on his face, made the entire atmosphere tense instantly.
Those who had been gossiping immediately went silent and greeted him. The air turned stiff, and a few of them began to sweat, thinking he might have caught them slacking off.
Not long after, someone rushed to Leon's office to inform him that the boss had arrived.
Leon had been on a call with his girlfriend, but the moment he heard the news, he dropped his phone on the table without even ending the call and dashed out of his office. The girl on the other end kept shouting, "Hello? Hello? Are you there?" but he didn't bother to go back.
Leon met Vincent on his way to his office and quickly collected the briefcase from him. As he did, most of the staff sighed in relief. They had all been wondering where Leon was, because none of them wanted to be holding his briefcase and standing close to Vincent.
"Boss, I thought you weren't coming today," Leon said, breathing heavily from the run.
Vincent didn't respond.
They both stopped at the presidential elevator. While waiting, Vincent kept checking the time on his wristwatch and tapping his shoe lightly against the floor.
Leon noticed it immediately.
Something was off.
Very off.
He studied his boss carefully. Vincent looked… restless. Nervous, even. And that alone was enough to confuse him. This was a man who never lost composure, no matter the situation.
Leon's mind immediately went back to the strange woman from yesterday.
His boss had been acting different ever since she appeared.
The elevator doors opened, and Vincent stepped in immediately. Leon followed behind without saying a word.
Soon, they arrived at the top floor.
Vincent placed his thumb on the fingerprint lock, and the door opened, revealing a large, luxurious office with a dark interior. He walked in and sat on his chair, leaning back slightly as it turned slowly from side to side.
Leon quietly placed the briefcase on the desk and turned to leave.
"Leon"
Vincent's deep voice stopped him.
Leon turned back immediately.
"Gather five bodyguards and go to Café Falls. Do it secretly. You'll go with them and make sure to protect Rose until I tell you to leave"
Leon's expression shifted slightly at the mention of her name, he guessed it must be that woman from yesterday.
"Make sure to report everything happening there." Vincent continued. "And while you're at it, I need you to run a full background check on her and bring me the report today"
"Yes, boss." Leon said, though his teeth were slightly clenched.
He turned and walked out, already mumbling to himself.
"Why must I waste today protecting some unknown woman…"
He let out a quiet scoff.
"This woman will surely be the death of both me and boss. She already made that robot man distracted and nervous for the first time. Does she even know what kind of danger she's entering into by being with him?"
Leon shook his head as he walked away.
He already felt a growing dislike for Rose.
But at the same time, there was a hint of pity.
Because she had no idea what she had just stepped into.
